  • One of a series on shore fishing at Eastbourne, East Sussex (UK). This is part one of a two part episode covering winter fishing at the best known mark in Eastbourne - Langney Point. Here, two daytime sessions, fishing ebbing tides (recorded on 11.12.19 and 23.12.19), focus on targeting dabs and big fish; with mixed success. A new rig is employed for flatfish.
The lessons learned from these sessions are put to good use in part two - the following video.
Other videos in this series cover additional marks in Eastbourne; the tactics and rigs used, in some detail.
You may also be interested in the series I produced on catching fish at Seaford, which has some similarities with fishing at Eastbourne:

Thanks for watching and your kind words. For me, rig selection is 'trial and error' most of the time. It's good to have a few basic set-ups, then adapt and vary things to suit conditions and what fish seem to be interested in feeding.
Generally (unless you are specimen hunting), you can't really go wrong with a three hook, clipped-down rig, with hook size, snood strength and length chosen to accommodate the species you are after, but also taking note of any tidal pull / currents. Beads / other attractors sometimes work and sometimes they don't - hence the 'trial and error'!

Excellent vid and like the style of presentation. I’ve fished this exact spot a few times yet still found this very informative and interesting. 👍

Great channel, I hope it continues to grow. Sharing the marks fished will help although I'm a long way away!

Really appreciate your kind words. Currently I shore fish anywhere between Suffolk and Somerset and will be covering marks throughout his stretch, which might be of some use. However, I should say that it is from the perspective of a semi-informed visiting angler, rather than local expert guide.

Glad to be of help and thanks for watching and your kind comments @polinisuper4. I do all of the filming and editing myself. If there's a film crew about, with nothing better to do and don't want any pay, then please join me - I would lose far fewer fish in the process!
