I know there has been several Indonesian participate but this girl represented the curiosity of Indonesian. Most Indonesian would be curious with other. I also love the way how she explained there are almost different way Indonesia pronouncing label: the correct way or the Indonesian way.

Indian here! India has many languages and the Indian girl in the video belongs to a certain part of India where 'A' may be pronounced as 'E' and so on but in other parts of India (mainly the Northern part) the letter 'A' is pronounced as it is for foreign brands and not just the brands but in our local languages (in Northern India) we do not pronounce 'A' as 'E'.
Plus we too call McDonald's as McD.
Fun fact: Indonesia has more languages than India.

Thai and Vietnamese words don’t naturally end with an “s” so it makes sense for them to omit the letter in loan words. For example in Thai they would pronounce final “s” in loan words as “t” (for example “sauce” is pronounced as ซอส or “sot” in Thai). But Indonesians just have this really weird relationship with the final “s” in loan words 😅
Because we do have many words that end with the letter “s” like “panas” (hot) or “kapas” (cotton) but somehow when it comes to English loanwords many of us would omit the letter when it’s supposed to be there, and add it when it shouldn’t be there in the first place 😂 For example, many would ignore the letter “s” in brand names like McDonald’s or Popeye’s but on the other hand, many Indonesians would say/type something like “I’m your fans!” instead of “I’m your fan” 🤣

Kalau pake “s” kek gitu kan artinya “Saya adalah kipas-kipas Anda!” atau “Saya adalah penggemar-penggemar Anda!” padahal saya kan cuma satu orang. Itu masalah orang Indonesia sama bentuk jamak dalam Bahasa Inggris.
@@deonbenjamin5650 Kebanyakan kata dalam bahasa Indonesia yang berakhiran s huruf sebelumnya huruf vokal. Tapi. ada kok yang berakhiran dua huruf vokal dengan s di ujungnya, dan ada di KBBI.
Contoh yang berakhiran s dan konsonan lain :
ks => kompleks
rs => pers
Problem di pengucapan kosakata tertentu seperti Mc Donald lebih cenderung disebabkan karena ada pasangan konsonan yang nggak umum dalam bahasa Indonesia seperti "ld" yang susah diucapkan lidah orang Indonesia, kecuali yang belajar bahasa Inggris. Jadinya, pengucapannya berhenti di huruf konsonan pertama, misalnya l untuk kata Mc donal(d's). Apalagi itu ada 3 huruf konsonan berturut-turut.
Same as Thai, we say "sốt" in Vietnamese.
I think that should share more about the chains in their countries instead of just the pronunciation. Like in Vietnam, we only have KFC, Lotteria, Popeyes, Jollibee, McDonald's, Burger King, Dominos, 4P, Pizza Hut, Pizza Company. About drinks, I think only Starbucks, 'cause we have so many local chains like Highland, Trung Nguyen, The Coffee House...
Please always invite Yukta as an Indian representetor coz she has correct knowledge about India. In india people also say MacD instead of Macdonalds.
In india actually, we also shorten up McDonalds to McD which is now more popular name nowadays

Tammie is showing the casual way of speaking in Thailand. A lot of “r” sounds are skipped in casual conversation. Trilled r sounds are standard sounds, but people would commit to it for more formal occasions. The “casual” speech stems from the Thai general behaviour of talking fast. The “s” sounds, especially as final consonant are silent as a habit as the Thai equivalent, in final consonant, “s” would be considered under the “d” sound group.
Back in the old old day, peopl would water down their English pronunciation and use the “tinglish” version to not look stand off-ish since being able to learn English back then was a great privilege. Then it evolved into part of “casual” speech. It’s going away now due to that attitude is considered dated and proper pronunciation of loanwords is getting encouraged.

As 70's born, KFC back in the 70's till 80's were pronounced it "kentucky (kentaki)" in indonesia, but the branding name changed globally in the 90's into "KFC", seeing how today's generation pronounced the same KFC means the changed works since 90's
I'm an early 90s kid and I do say the brand as ayam kentucky 😂
but nowadays I do say it as ka-ef-ce (indo alphabet spelling)
00s kid here and I'd call it kentaki with my parents and older people but kfc (ka-ef-si) with millenials and gen-Zs

The Indonesian lady is confused why Dunkin' is pronounced that way in Vietnamese, well it's the same in English. -in(g) is often pronounced with just a schwa vowel rather than the full vowel.
AFAIK the “i” in “Dunkin’” is not pronounced as a schwa /ə/ like in “drunken” or “sunken” but more like the /ɪ/ sound like in words like “bit” or “sit” or “kick”.
@@kilanspeaks I have a friend from Boston, he's always mentioned it as a schwa. It may very well just be the individual. Also, he often just calls it Dunks or Dunkies, not even Dunkin'.

Hien wrongly spell the Vietnamese Alphabet. 2 ways of spelling: (1) a [ʔaː˧˧], b[ʔɓe˧˧], c[se˧˧].... and (2) a [ʔaː˧˧], b [ʔɓəː˧˧], c[kəː˧˧]. The first (1) is normally used for the short name (KFC, VTV, etc) or order/bullet while the second (2) is used for spelling the single word.

This indonesian girl sometimes explains too much which is unnecessary. Like, every other girl doesn’t really care. But still, she is better than the other indonesian representatives. I found the indonesian girl with hijab (in guessing which country’s video) tries to look fun but often fails. The other indonesian in cheap food’s video, is too quiet and limited in vocabulary and expression.
We indians also shorten to McD. Why that indian girl know that. Infact we shorten everything.
In India , might be only one person pronounce A as e and that would be this girl. Chick fill A as in alphabet A is right every direction ⬇️⬆️. Don't get offended by me. I like epple though.

She didn’t say “barger” at all, she said “bərgər”(with schwa “ə” like in “benar” or “betul”) which is how many Indonesians pronounce the word. “Barger” is not even the correct way to pronounce the word in English.

The Thai and the Vietnamese had a French spirit today, trolling English well by taking letters, creating a silent consonant, in Usonian phonetics they speak the r in a more literal way without the rotated or rolled R, which makes it better to understand.
