I love that paralyzed look people get when Britt belts it out, so many people can scarcely withstand her power, it's so fun to watch after having the same experience haha
she has the most powerful voice in metal today, it's just amazing

After watching the Awakening reaction where you mentioned the high power soprano vocals I knew this one would knock your socks off.
But yes her high notes are very impressive but let's not forget her deep rich low notes. It was actually those that the choir she was in wanted her for if I remember correctly (Charismatic Voice interview / tea time)
For some straight up epic old school metal from this same record try “Test Your Metal”. You’ll love it. Straight Ronnie James Dio vibes and a killer opening riff.

You definitely hear more of the old-school melodeath on this album than on their last two. Take a look at "The Wind that Shapes the Land" from their last album for some epic power metal.

One thing to note:
If/when you decide to re-listen to this song again, listen to the official audio version from Unleash The Archers' channel, or from any streaming platform.
This is the "Video Edit". There is a short bridge cut out after the first chorus. Also, after the solo, a bass interlude followed by some chanting on top of it is cut out from the Official Video.
While the video is entertaining and goes well with the song, you miss out on the true structure and the intended pacing of the song.

UtA riffs will ALWAYS satisfy. They ALWAYS resolve the way they should. It's their most reliable feature, other than Brittney Slayes obviously. Try Cleanse the Bloodlines or Abyss next.
Pretty sure when you go back to Awakening you will remember why it blew you away, but if you really lean thrash you will probably usually prefer older UtA. A bit more thrashy but everything is top UtA quality. I like their most recent two albums the most, personally.
Dunno if anyone mentioned but they are actually a two album concept story written by Brittney, each song a chapter and it is epic. Their musical storytelling is the best. SO engaging but never too on the nose which always bothers me.
That was a great solo. I love the way they brought the vocal melody in with the technical bits which kept it grounded to the song. I wish more quitar players would do that.

Thanks ! Hope you hop on the U.T.A. train ! Like your picking out things. I was a "close to pro band " guitarist back in the late 80's .. but Man .. these people do it better than we made back in the day. I'm glad they are continuing ,and making true Metal music, with a mix of old school,and a (touch) of new elements,, on top of that,, Brittney can write (and Sings) an amazing tale on these 2 masterpiece albums "Apex" + "Abyss" ..... Both are Stellar Cheers !!
Yeah this is a great track. Starts off at 100 mph and doesn't let up! I'd love to see what you think of "Ghost Prototype 1" by Scar Symmetry!
