Hi MMR, a few details about this show and the band, Omega Alive was their pandemic streaming concert, re the keyboards, Coen's keyboard is on a track that runs behind the drummer to each side of the stage,
both guitars are 7 string (check that Les Paul again) and the bass player uses a 5 string, so they all have an extra low B string, which is why their riffs sound so chonky!
The show was done during covid - the best stream show ever, even surpasses Nightwish's that was really something else. The kids were at the 20th anniversary show too. Really cool. Coen the key player has his keyboard mounted on rail, so he constantly move from one side of the scene to the other. So do the other band members. Coen has also a curved keyboard so he does a bit of moving around playing together with Isaac (lead guitar).. Both Isaac and Coen go down from the scene to play and say hi to the audience. Coen even did a crowdsurf still playing his curved keyboard during the 20th anniversary.
That recent NW is not even comparable to this. This is lightyear better than that overpriced and rehearsal-like show on a green screen.

Omega Alive is out on DVD. It was recorded 2021over 5 days and streamed together. They brought the kids back for the 20th anniversary show a few weeks ago in The Netherlands. They did pretty good in front of a crowd, but some looked like they weren't totally at ease.
Yes , this song isn't that complicated, but it's still one of my favorites. For a song that is a little more complex from this same virtual show, try Kingdom of Heaven Pt 3. Both songs are on the latest 8th album ,Omega.
You could probably say Epica gained quite a few young followers with that video ❤️🤘🎸🇦🇺
The other cool part about the kids. This was their live stream recorded during lockdown so can you imagine the experience for those kids during those times.

The kids in the choir probably knew what to expect: Coen (the keyboard player) is the father of two of them.
Edit: Isaac's Gibson is also a 7 string, which is pretty special too.

Epica is way superior than some other bands out there. Orchestral and choir elements has always been an integral part of the band. I think you ought to check out the three hour 10th year anniversary show of Epica where it features full choir amd orchestra.
This band is simply unique. Nuf said 🤘🏻
Oh but I don't have a favourite Epica song, well yes my favourite is their discography just because they only make good songs, amazing songs and masterpieces!
Yup, that is a cobra and it has significance with Epica in Omega era. In the recent albums, they talked about transhumanism (In Holographic Principle album) which is better portrayed by OUROBOROS. It depicts a serpent eating its own tail, it symbolize eternity and endless return. In the next album, Omega (an album which is highly influenced by the spiritual-scientific theory called Omega Point theory that posit a supposed future when everything in the universe spirals toward a final point of unification), the concept of unification, end of times, rebirth and infinity has become prevalent. Hence, the use of cobra motif to represent a full circle event. Epica is just masterful at any conceivable level.

In this same virtual concert those cobra's really spit fire in other songs...You pronounce Coen as it sounds a bit like cool with an n at the end instead of the l.
Both guitarists play 7-string. Mark uses Ibanez, Isaac has fairly rare Gibson LP 7-string guitars.

Great reaction. You should also checkout the music video. Incredible storytelling and video production. The 20th anniversary live stream was just amazing. You could see the kids were digging performing this live in that show. I believe Coen's daughter is one of the singers in the children's choir and his wife was one of the singers in the acapella version of Rivers. This is from the Omega Alive livestream. Recorded live over several days on several different sets and then streamed all at once.
Great reaction again, as I said in my last comment to NightWish, you bring something different to the world of reaction videos, please keep doing that and just be you, I like it a lot. I love the movie video of this song. I was lucky to be at EPICA’s 20 years anniversary concert live last month, and the kids from the choir were having fun. 🫶🤘🇳🇱
That's my problem to having reactions to The Skeleton Key in general. It's a ridiculously good song that's ridiculously unsurprising.

Not my favorite Epica, but I do love it. Some beautiful cleans, some dirty riffs. And a kids choir. Love tracks when most of the music apart from Rob is stripped back for a bit too, I love his tone. I had to laugh with the kids choir and all the pryo too!
Whut? Robb's bassline riffs in this song are outstanding. It's even prominent. Have you listened to the second verse properly in the studio version?

I like Epica ,the only thing i don't like is Marc growling ( i know , i know🤷♂).i would like it so much better if he would just sing normal . but i like them nonetheless
