Awesome breakdown! There is no video but "The Wind That Shapes the Land" off their latest album is a flat out masterpiece. When I see them live soon I'm certain that song is gonna be incredible to hear.
needs more thumbs, needs needs needs more thumbs....i've been a hardcore UTA fan for 6 years at this point, and am really partial to time stands still but holy good grief "The Wind That Shapes The Land' is worth being in their running for their best song, it's so unbelievable and i can't wait to hear her shriek "nooooow" live!!!
I'm pretty sure the layered harsh vocals is from both guitarists at the same time. It is more common in their older songs. In the newer stuff the harsh vocals are used mostly to represent a different character in the story line. Andrew also does some clean singing in a couple songs for the same reason. To hear more about Brittney's background and singing techniques, a good video to check out in your own time is her interview with The Charismatic Voice. It's kind of a long vid and covers other topics, but definitely interesting.
I LOVED the look on your face during that first high Belt... it's something that only singers do, a look of pain and anxiety and 'ohmygod she's going to go there' Your breakdown is great. I learn more every time I listen to you. And you have the best GuitarFace, ever. Keep being the best. Singer? I barely know her. - - Blind Doc Jones.
If you still want more UTA and you like costumes you could perhaps checkout "Cleanse the Bloodlines". Loved this video, and I also checked out Carmen and thought that was pretty cool
I would really be interested in your take on UTA song "Heartless World" official video it has that classical start slow with the acoustic guitars at the beginning where you can really hear Brittney cleanly. Enjoy your videos and your takes on classical and symphonic metal
I love this song, and I'm so happy you reacted to it. Most reactors who I've watched and listened to Awakening never react to this so they never hear Brittany's full range it's amazing what she can do.
I recommend the Swedish Band Brothers of metal. Its quite a theatrical band singing about norse mythology. Its a band that handles multiple singers very well.
Off of their newest album, my favorite song is Legacies. They dont show them playing or her singing but the song is awesome and so different from the other two songs youve heard from UTA.
Love your reaction, great comments on the voice/growls and the glad you're checking out the guitars. So Awakening was an album behind their latest, Tonight We Ride was even further back, to give you a sense of their progression check out Soulbound from their latest Album - Abyss (it has a cool video too.) In Soulbound you will see another example of how they use growling to tell the story or support the singer rather than as a lead. Another great track w/o a video from the new album would be The Wind that Shapes the Land (best composition off the new album, no vid.)
They do layer her voice a lot, she calls it her Brittney Choir. Someone mentioned her interview with the Charismatic Voice, which was a great video for her technique
There was another reaction to this one where the guy is on a piano and calls out the notes she hits. I believe he also said that the highest note she hits is A5.
Now that you're in UTA, check out their darker video Cleanse the Bloodlines, and Test your Metal which have very old school heavy metal vibes. I don't see similarities with Resident Evil, this is more inspired in Mad Max films (which are way better than all cinematic Resident Evil franchise).
Two 'growl guys' in this one, both of the guitarists. In their older songs they had more of that with different band members. General of the Dark Army is one of their videos where it's clearer there are two guys doing the growls instead of just one. (also a good one for a nice opening guitar solo)
Hey Ana, I see you haven't checked out either The Hu (Mongolian throat singing metal band) or Lzzy Hale (Halestorm-hard rock/metal) and you can experience both together with their track Song of Women, I think you'll love it! Link: th-cam.com/video/mdN1U9NvuIc/w-d-xo.html Love this reaction, BTW!
Great reaction!! I'm not sure if it's been pointed out yet, but it's not a growler overdubbing in 2 different voices, it's actually both guitarists growling.
Hey Anastasia. I absolutely loved your reaction. Unleash The Archers are great. Please react to Faster Than Light. It is definitely my favorite music video. Thanks for your reaction🤘😊🤘
Very "Mad Max" (original Australian film) video! Not quite Resident Evil and Milla Jovovich doesn't sing like Brittney (but I like it!)! Good breakdown and reaction, again!!!
It's all up to interpretation. I sometimes see Resident Evil Extinction in it but not alot. But yes you do see Mad Max. Milla and Brittney to me would be a nice combo.
Resident Evil is the movie series you were thinking of. Mad Max is also mentioned a lot as well as SteamPunk. I think that the screams you heard are just both Andrew and Grant. Both can do false fold and fry screams and growls . Her legs come from Rugby :-) She is a world class rugby player.
I believe she played rugby all through highschool and college, so that's where the muscly legs come from (or what's left of it). Their live performance of "Tonight We Ride" at Montage in Rochester, NY is supergood(!) (2nd last song of the set, 46.51s in ): th-cam.com/video/7KbILQn3yaQ/w-d-xo.html
You said you like costumes in your comment. How about Elize Ryd/Alyssa White-Gluz in Kamelot - Sacrimony live or just Elize in her band Amaranthe - Archangel in the studio. There's also Heidi Parviainen of Dark Sarah - Dance with the Dragon for a steampunk/metal type feel.
Hey Anastasia. \m/ Another cool reaction and break down. And yes. You are in the neighborhood of the post-apocalyptic feel of the video. As another posted before me pointed out, more "Mad Max" than "Resident Evil" with Milla Jovovich, but that is just tomato... tomahto as they say. Also, just wanted to give you two thumbs up and a double metal \m/ \m/ for your rendition of "Carmen." I'd have to say it is my favorite "metal" version of "Carmen" now. Speaking of which in a similar vein, Brittney Slayes does a very fun power metal version of "Brindisi" with the Lords of Trident... think it was last December. Definitely worth checking out. Funny you should mention about recording this "Tonight We Ride" track and then talking about Brittney probably even sounding good on crappy equipment because there is a video floating around of her on TH-cam singing Queensrÿche "Queen of the Reich" at a Karaoke bar in Edinburg after the band finished one of their gigs. The video was recorded on a cell phone too boot.
IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME! I dont know if anybody else has mentioned it yet but Brittney was originally leaning toward perusing opera and actually has a video out of her singing opera just for the fun of it. I will put the link below. th-cam.com/video/Txb0GV9PGl4/w-d-xo.html

Please check out the band LOVEBITES. All Japanese female metal group from Japan. They are an amazing live band. Try the songs Holy War, Edge of the World. Both from 2020 live in Tokyo Zepp DiverCity. 🤘🏻
Awesome reaction !!! May I suggest to you (from UtA) "Cleanse the Bloodlines" (awesome video and song, you'll love the costumes) "Abyss" "Soulbound" (all official). These are just a few more suggestions from the Many this incredible band has to offer! Cheers !!!.... (subscribed !)
Hello from Brazil. Anastasia you're young, that's why you didn't notice the Mad Max movie reference. Congratulations on the Carmen version. I really loved it. Married metal very well with Carmen. My favorite Unleash video is Cleanse The Bloodlines ( th-cam.com/video/PfSL-6YExzk/w-d-xo.html ). But if you like vocals and 80s, this is the right song th-cam.com/video/liOpF1oHhu4/w-d-xo.html . Unleashe reminds me of another female vocal power metal band from Italy called Frozen Crown ( th-cam.com/video/yoKmHAmtopk/w-d-xo.html ). As for the growl, it's not normal in power metal. You don't know Theater Tragedy from Norway, they invented the "beautiful and wild" vocal style where soft female vocals duet with male growls.
A great live version of this song: th-cam.com/video/ip9arlYkw1k/w-d-xo.html both in terms of performance and the sound is great for (what sounds like) a room recording.
Please in the future you will react to Rammstein [Live at Paris) and Till Lindemann (lead-vocal as soloist) [Live at Moscow]; yours alive performances are INSANE!!!

I love test your metal!

Thank YOU!
Awesome breakdown! There is no video but "The Wind That Shapes the Land" off their latest album is a flat out masterpiece. When I see them live soon I'm certain that song is gonna be incredible to hear.
YESSSSS! I'm going to see them too! 'Can't wait! (And "The Wind That Shapes The Land" is my favorite)!
Yes, great song! I'm seeing them in Sept for the first time and am sooo excited!

Very cool reaction!!! gotta hear (the wind that shapes the land) Insane song!!!!! briney Crushes it !!!!!
She is a fantasy gamer and she puts it into the lyrics of her songs.
Great Reaction! FYI, they are on tour now.
My first time i heared that song from them it is Amazing
Listen to her sing TEST YOUR METAL, you will love it
On it!
Hey Anastasia, i'm really getting hooked on your reactions as well as your personal music.
Keep up the Great work and Keep it METAL!!!!!
Great reactions
Thank you so so much!
Another really good UTA song that shows how high she can go is "Abyss" from their newest album of the same name.
I'm pretty sure the layered harsh vocals is from both guitarists at the same time. It is more common in their older songs. In the newer stuff the harsh vocals are used mostly to represent a different character in the story line. Andrew also does some clean singing in a couple songs for the same reason.

Resident Evil is the Mila Jovovich movie. This is very Mad Max like!
They are doing this song on the current tour and yes, she is still hitting those notes....
Gotta do The Wind That Shapes the Land! That song is an epic masterpiece!!
Heartless world is a great cover they do, originally by the band Teaze.
Try Soulbound next, from the latest record
I LOVED the look on your face during that first high Belt... it's something that only singers do, a look of pain and anxiety and 'ohmygod she's going to go there'

Thank you so much! ❤️ I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
General Of The Dark Army would be an excellent choice for the next video.
Wintersun-time. Live rehearsal at sonic pump studio.

I'm LOVING the classical Marylin from Playboy on the wall.
Fantastic reaction and breakdown, love your energy, can't wait for more UTA reactions
I love this song, and I'm so happy you reacted to it. Most reactors who I've watched and listened to Awakening never react to this so they never hear Brittany's full range it's amazing what she can do.
It really is!
Nightwish - Phantom Of The Opera
I recommend the Swedish Band Brothers of metal. Its quite a theatrical band singing about norse mythology. Its a band that handles multiple singers very well.
Really like this song. Has 'Mad Max' movie vibe.
If you want to see a man hit an A5 easily, check out Beast in black, blind and frozen, or berserker. He can sing Ghost love score from Nightwish too !
Great reaction/analysis - love this UTA exploration. I think you should do Cleanse the Bloodlines - just a great song!
Do their latest Abyss album....breathtaking! It was just awarded metal album of the year at Canada's Juno awards. Oh Canada! 🇨🇦
Off of their newest album, my favorite song is Legacies. They dont show them playing or her singing but the song is awesome and so different from the other two songs youve heard from UTA.

Mad max
"I literally understand every single word... there's probably a couple I missed, but..." 😂
Brittney said in an interview that she sang Alto in an choir... But she surely got the height in her voice also.. 😍
More Mad Max than Resident Evil for me, but I get the reference. And YES, Brittany Slayes in that costume.
Elizabeth from Charismatic Voice concurs on the A5; good call.
Death Power Metal.. 🤘😎🔥

❤️❤️❤️ I hope I did her name Justice!
Another legend that belt at A5 and higher is Celine Dion also a great Canadian.

Cleanse the Bloodline… will not disappoint
I once heard that she is a mezzo-soprano with a 4 octave range, I don't even know whether that can be called mezzo-soprano.
Hmmm mixed mezzo with a freaky range:)

TONIGHT WE RIDE
Hold on to this moment for all time, this is the night we ride
I hear them calling our name
Raising the flag and fuelling the flame
I'll find my destination; don't tell me where to go
I won't give in this time, feel the power
Not this time, scream it louder
Voyage o'er the mountains and wastelands
Far beyond the sea lies fortune
No regrets, just live for the fight
Renounce your precious lives and ride
Take hold of your steel chariot; though ours is gone, lives on
Rise to the challenge or fall
Nothing will hinder our rise to the call
We'll find our destination, can't tell us where to go
We won't give in this time, feed the hunger
Not this time, growing stronger
Voyage o'er the mountains and wastelands
Far beyond the sea lies fortune
We'll find our destination; let's go!
Voyage o'er the mountains and wastelands
Far beyond the sea lies fortune
Fly, redeem tonight
Destroy, renounce your precious lives and ride
Ride

Hello from Brazil.
