  • Finally the weather has picked up and I was able to get out for my first trail run of 2017! I had the WLToys 12428 with me for this trail run. It handled the trail pretty well except for a couple of areas. Subscribe today: bit.ly/1m7duJd

    I find myself wishing this video was a lot longer. But I would imagine it took hours to reposition your camera for all of the angles on those trails, then edit the video. Thank you for those efforts.

      Unfortunately I no longer can. I burnt up both of the diffs running a 3S lipo. Then when working on a dump truck rc project I used part of the chassis from the wltoys 12428 in the build so I no longer have the 12428. Thanks for watching!

    • @VoidXRC
      @VoidXRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree locking the rear makes a big difference, for the front it depends on how I want to run the vehicle, for something like the 12428 I prefer an unlocked front diff so you get a bit better turning radius. Thanks for watching :)

    what'd up void X!! as of now everything seems to be ok with the 12428 build. I found a site selling the fiayue for $59.00, not bad. thinking bout pulling the trigger and picking it up for either parts like diffs and gears for now till I can afford $150 on aftermarket differentials or to put all my electronics from the wl to the fiayue, that's if the fiayue accepts 540 can sizes. my first run last night with the body back on and the led light kit installed yeah it's not powering the roof light bar and headlights as bright and it wouldn't even turn the motor cooling fan at all, idk current output of the led box not enough I imagine. that's for another story lol. but I did get a full hour of bashing thru some thick grass and high speed runs up and down my road all while temperatures staying very very cool. took 30 minutes just to feel warmth from the esc and after an hour the motor and esc barely got luke warm to the touch. it gets up and down my 1/2 mile road real fast let me tell ya while the entire time all I could do was half throttle. as fast as I can get it without feeling unsafe I'd say close to 40 to 50 mph cracking the throttle just for a second at those speeds and I could still get wheelies out of it. plus all the led's really help me out for long distance orientation of the vehicle... I'm also thinking of maybe just finding a 10th scale rolling chassis to put these electronics into than putting the stock motor back into the 12428 getting brushed esc for it and giving it to the boy. if I go that route I'm really hoping to get something that will fit the gmade adjustable piggyback shocks I have, I haven't tried alot but I really really like them. also lovn the losi 8ight-e 4.0 with its ability to adjust motor and trans pitch for different track types....

    • @VoidXRC
      @VoidXRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! The motor should last quite awhile. I really don't know the time frame though, I've only ever burnt out one or two brushed motors. Eventually the brushes on the motor will wear out though.

    • @islandluv1
      @islandluv1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's impressive! I'm beginning to think mine was just a lemon...
      on my maiden voyage, my steering "slider" got jammed up with sand (it was literally just a small sand mound maybe 4 inches high). I had maybe 3 or 4 normal runs after that, and then my front diff wore out. Converted it to rwd (basically just removed the spider gears from the front diff), and got maybe another 4 or 5 runs, then one fateful day after two 1 1/2 ft.- 2 ft. jumps....my rear diff broke, driveshaft wore out, AND both front dogbones bent. Ordered those remo hobby metal diffs, and after about a month and a half they finally arrive...get it all installed....go to run it.....annnnnnnnd my battery is borked, lol.
      I swear I've spent maybe 2 hours driving the thing, and like 8 hours fixing it! lol
      Unfortunately my patience wore out on mine and I sold it. I'm hoping the zd racing zmt-10 that I have on the way won't be as fickle with me, lol

    • @ScottyG117
      @ScottyG117 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      i don't run mine in sand or high grass.Mainly dirt and low grass lands. sand will destroy the servo saver and grass/weeds can spiral around drive shafts and snap things!. I grease all my shafts every 10 runs with white lithium in a spray can.

    question, I plan on goin brushless soon. I'm about to order the fly sky gt3b radio. I need the new radio and 3 wire servo to run the brushless setup. my question is is there anyway to use the new flysky radio with the stock brushed motor and esc till the brushless comes in or is the flysky transmitter just gonna sit in the box till I get the rest of parts, motor esc servo. thanks in advance

    • @VoidXRC
      @VoidXRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The flysky transmitter is just sit in the box till you get the rest of your parts.

    • @detroitrcwurks998
      @detroitrcwurks998 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Void X RC plan on getting the futaba 4pls 4-channel t-fhss computer radio later down the road and keep the flysky as back up. figured it will do its job for now till I can spend $200 on a radio. there's too much other I want for now ya know. also you know anything about the g-force supersonic race level sensored brushless 4.5 t motor. Idk the description says 4.5t but says 17.5 turn on the can in picture. Idk if the pictures just for reference kinda but that's big difference between the 2. what you think about the motor brand itself.

    • @VoidXRC
      @VoidXRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know anything specifically about the g-force supersonic motors as I've not not heard of them before. I can tell you that a 4.5 turn motor is a seriously fast motor though, talking about 9000+ kv. You need a big power full ESC for a motor like that, something like a 100-120am continuous ESC for it. That motor under no load would spin at over 66,000 rpm with a 7.4volt battery.

    • @detroitrcwurks998
      @detroitrcwurks998 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK well I'm going ahead and ordering a sensored brushless motor & esc combo and steering servo while my new radio comes in mail, I needs me some help brother, lol. I just got back into the hobby from early 2000 Era and even than was only running nitro cars so I'm unfamiliar as to how the kv works and which is better? I do know the KV measurement is figured in with the rpms but not sure how the numbers work as far as which is more powerful, seems to me the higher the number KV the more power the motor outputs, is this true? And do you by any chance have a general idea of the size pinion gear I should go with for each motor. I know the 12428 motor mount can't be adjusted but I don't mind modifying it till I get another if need be... thanks for your help my man!!

    • @VoidXRC
      @VoidXRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      KV is how motors are rated for rpm/voltage. You multiply the KV number by how many volts you are going to run(2s battery, 7.4v to 8.4v, 3s around 12v, etc) so a high KV motor say 7000kv running off of a 3s battery would put out 84,000 rpms under no load. a motor like that will heat up fast. you also get less torque with a high KV motor. you are also more limited in the batteries too. So a low KV motor will have a lot more torque and can take a more power full battery. For the 1/12 scale wltoys 12428 I'd recommend a motor somewhere in the range of 3000-4000kv and run on a 2s battery. For the pinion it depends on the KV of the motor, A low kv motor can take a bigger pinion than a high kv motor.

    • @BoyJorgey
      @BoyJorgey 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will hold up well if you avoid bashing it like a toddler and proper throttle discipline. This one for its price has stock plastic gears. If ever you full throttle it from a full stop, expect it to break after 3-4 charges like those youtubers who does it. It's an RC between toy and hobby grade. It can be fixed with metal differrntials though. But that would cost you. In my opinion, its sturdy and will last a few years if you take care of it well without upgrades.

      The camera I used in this video is a canon vixia HF R500. I now have a go pro 4 session that I use too. And I use my phone for slow motion footage

      I used to when I was a lot younger. I've thought about it riding again over the last couple of years but a decent bike is out of my price range right now.

      I'd honestly have a look at the new Wltoys 144001 as it looks really good. I don't have any hands on experience with it but from what I am hearing it is excellent

      But its not as good as the 12428 in of road but its faster and more breaksble

      Ahh ok that makes sense. As for the 12428 it's definitely a good little rig, I bashed it quite a bit on trails like this. I didn't run into any problems until I started running a more powerful battery - 3S, which it isn't really meant to do. I can't really say if you should buy it or not but I don't think you can go wrong getting one

      Whats your opinion about 2s zop power lipos? I'm thinking of buying one with the 12428

    So has yours been a big a peice of cr** mine has been. It definitely sounds rough in your video just like mine and water proof is a funny way of saying plastic case that isn’t. Plz anyone who reads this don’t waste your money. And definitely don’t get upgrades because there worthless. Save your money up and just get a traxxas or tamiya.
