Yes this thing is not a proper rock crawler, even if you lock the diff. But this thing is fun for bashing even slowly "crawl" In rocky road. I have this thing for 5 years and i still play with it. Only minor problem occur within 5 years like servo problem and broken diff gears a week ago so i replace it with metal gears
I totally agree with you. This is not suitable for rock crawlers. Everything you said happened to my RC too. The problem arises with the servo. I also replaced the servo with a metal servo. It can crawl all right ! Nice video. I changed the ESC/receiver stock combo on mine and put in a cheap Chinese 2-3s 60A brushed ESC and a receiver that matches my personal transmitter. To do that I had to change the steering servo as well, coz the stock one is a 5-wire. I can now run it on 2s and even on 3s for more speed if I want to, while using my favourite radio transmitter. I modified the rear battery compartment as well to fit a bigger battery, but not a 5000 mAH because that's overkill. A 2200mAH is just fine and fits nicer. I liked this video because it not all out bashing and full throttle driving like most of the others. Driving this desert truck scale is the best experience. Cheers!

Many TH-cam channels have discussed the comparison between 12428 and 12429, adjust it to your liking. 1. 12428 is faster than 12429. 2. 12429's ground clearance is higher than 12428 due to bigger wheels. 3. the display 12429 is more manly than the 12428. 4. 12429 when starting can wheelie easily. 5. about performance I think it's the same. Sorry if my answer is not satisfactory 😭
I dont know, but so far, I have used the stock battery, it's quite satisfying. It can be used for about 10-15 minutes if used continuously. 🤭 Sorry for my bad english 🤪😳🤪🤔
A higher mah rating will be fine, its basically like a bigger fuel tank, just dont jump up to 3s, the higher voltage is what will kill it. Some can take 3s for a while, some fry instantly.. the electronics arent officially rated for it so its not worth the risk unless u plan to upgrade the electronics anyway.
I agree with you. Wltoys 12428 tends to be suitable for use on broad and flat ground, because wltoys has high speed. If used for crawling, the body often gets stuck. And it's hard to adjust the speed from the remote control.
