    If anyone is still considering getting these, I highly recommend them, first thing to realize is that this is a difficult job for those who have never worked on a car before, this is my first time ever doing something like this and it was quite difficult but nothing impossible to do, The first light took me about three hours to do because I had so much trouble getting the inner fender liner out. I would recommend watching a video on how to do this, the second one took me about two hours and was much much easier. the lights are pretty solid, not super bright during a sunny day but the turn signals work well and everything looks great at night. Highly recommend, while you’re installing them they’re not going to fit perfectly because they are aftermarket, and while working to install them if something feels like it’s going to break or you don’t wanna push it too hard don’t worry these jeeps are made tough. Overall nice lights. I have a 4-door 2020 Wrangler JL Willys (sport).

    Just installed these and here's my review.
    Most fender lights are for the Sahara/Rubicon fenders which have wider fender lights, so these lights are one of the few I've found for the JL Unlimited Sport.
    Price: 10/10. I paid about $120 open box, like new condition. Even for $160 new thats about as cheap as youll find so price is good.
    Daytime look: 8/10. I got the smoked ones and they look great on a black car, much better than the old halogen lights. Point missing for fit being not perfect, theres a gap between the lights and the fender on one side, towards the center grill. The other point missing is because you have to buy your own smoked turn signal (for an extra $40). Overall, the gap is forgivable from 5 feet away and i ended up buying the smoked turn signal so overall im happy with the daytime look.
    Night time look: 5/10. The turn signals look good, but the white DRLs are not bright unless you bend down and stare right at them head on. These are not the Sahara/ Rubicon fender lights that are bright from any angle.
    Install difficulty: im mechanically experienced, I have all the tools and good lighting in my garage, and it still took me 3+ hours to install these lights. The fender liner is difficult to get off (not shown in this video so i wrestled with the rivets and broke one before i learned how they come apart). The bracket holding the light has like 9 bolts which you have to keep track what goes where which is increased in difficulty because they use 3 different bolts securing them: 5 longer T25s and 1 shorter one, and four or five 10mm bolts, plus the christmas trees holding the wires which take some care to not mutilate. Also, disconnecting the harness is glossed over in this video and i messed with it for 15 minutes before i figured out how it unclips. Then you gotta put it all back remembering which bolt goes where, couple of them are super tough to reach, and the fender liner will go back on messy since a bunch of your rivets or christmas trees will be broken.
    Overall, even though i wish these more closely resemebled the Sahara/Rubicon DRLs which are super bright from all angles, these fall short but ill keep them because selection is pretty limited for JL Unlimited Sports, short of replacing your fenders and getting the legit fender lights.

    You skipped removal/reinstallation of the fender liner :( I bought this light from you guys and now I'm figuring out how to do this on my own. It seems like the clips that you remove from the liner are a one time use thing and can't be reused. At the very least, in order to reuse them you'd have to remove the entire fender to get access to the back side of the clips, which would make this way more complicated. So, now I'm waiting on a new set of clips I ordered from Amazon before I actually do the install. This information would have been really useful.

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry about that! They should use all the same hardware, but if the plastic clips are beat up from taking it off you may need to replace them.

    • @mrisinger
      @mrisinger ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@extremeterrain I appreciate your response but your comment is wrong and misleading. The clips on the outside edge of the fender are not the same as underneath and the issue is not whether they get beat up during removal. The clips used here are part number 6506007AA. At 4:18 in the video I see one of these clips still inserted in the hole so I know your JL originally had them. If you do a google search for this part number, you'll see that before you install them they have an inch long plastic rod that protrudes from the center. You install them by inserting them into the hole, holding the clip flush against the fender with your clip removal tool, and using pliers to pull the rod out as far as it will go. This squeezes the back end of the clip towards the front which pushes out 4 flanges that lock the liner in place. Then you sheer off the plastic rod with an exacto knife. Because you've now removed a part that was necessary to install the clip, and this has already been done at the factory, there is no way to repeat this process with a clip that has already been installed before. They are 1 time use by design.

      Hi, thank you so much for bringing this up and I can’t believe how they simply decided to leave this very important step out.

    • @mrisinger
      @mrisinger ปีที่แล้ว

      @@waynefu3067 Glad I could help. I realize now that the clips are probably designed to be installed with a rivet tool. The clip remover/pliers/exacto method seems to work if you don't have one, but using a rivet tool is probably the best way.

      ^^100% you have to remove two of those plastic rivets- the front one and the other about 3 back from that. I had some other plastic fasteners that fit so it went back together fine. Also some of the little 'tree' looking ones will break and you'll need some of those on hand also, Hope that helps someone/

      In the middle of the red clip, he pushed the black bar it swings the black flap back. Try it on the new headlights connector to see how the black flap moves and where you have to press to move it back and forth. You'll be pressing on the black bar in the middle of the red clip. That unhinges it.

    Hope they are brighter in person, they seem to be very dim

      @extremeterrain  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The camera doesn't do the best job showing off bright lighting. However in person these are pretty darn bright. Hope this helps.

    • @Marky_Markster
      @Marky_Markster หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I just installed these, and in my opinion the video is pretty accurate. Notice the video is dimmed to show off the lights, and the turn signals look good, but the white DRLs seem only ok. These are not the Sahara and Rubicon replicas as I had hoped to find, which look bright no matter from what angle you're looking at them. These white DRLs are bright only if youre looking directly right at them and youre under 5ft tall. Off angle or if I stand up tall (I'm 5'11") they're dim... So theyll look ok in the rear view mirror of the car in front of you, or if you walk directly in front of them from a decent distance away. A little disappointing, but i'll keep them on because I don't know a better kit than these for the JL Unlimited Sport. I guess the way to do it is to buy Sahara/Rubicon complete fender replacements and then you can retrofit the legit fender lights. ExtremeTerrain team please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't mind spending a bit more for a higher quality kit for my JL Unlimited Sport.

      I struggled here but after 5 minutes learned how it works, then could do it with ease after. In the middle of the red clip, there is a black bar that you have to push down it opens the black flap. If you're not sure look at the opened connector on the new headlights, you press on a black bar it's like a fulcrum that swings the black flap back and forth. Watch where he puts his fingers at 7:31

    When you say the top row of white LEDs are for DRLs do you mean the parking lights? My sport doesn’t have DRLs so I wasn’t sure if theres a wire to run to the fuse box for DRLs or if its just the parking light
