How about the fact that affordable housing is disappearing in Austin, especially in the downtown area? Or the fact that there is projected to be insufficient housing for all the people that continue to move here by 2030? And while Houston is the Wild West of zoning laws because there are none, Austin’s zoning laws haven’t been updated since 1984 and most of the land inside the city is zoned for single-family residences with a minimum lot size of over 5,000 square feet, not for more condos or apartment complexes. And the traffic in Austin is the worst in the state, not to mention the ungodly summer we are going through this year.
Something left out is you can cruise from Galveston. All types of cruises, all the time and year and it's getting bigger and better like Disney cruises, etc. Also, at certain times, the Galveston water is blue where you can see through the water. The reason that the water gets like that is all the rain run off coming through other areas of the state through Houston out to Galveston. If all y'all managed y'all's water better, maybe Galveston's water can show up blue a lot more.
You bring up a great point! Having the port in Houston is huge for a lot of people / businesses, and it's definitely a great spot to catch the cruises you mentioned. There definitely aren't any cruises happening on Lake Travis in Austin 😂

Dallas for the win. It has the size and infrastructure to rival Houston , major international airport with many direct flights, all major sports and we have quite a few lakes around. The humidity is better and cost of living is more expensive than Houston, but cheaper than Austin. Last thing I want to touch on is metro population size. A lot of people like to look at city population, but it’s so misleading when it comes to large cities. With that said, Houston metro is around 7.2 million, Dallas/Ft Worth is around 7.8 and metro Austin is around 2.3 million residence. This gives you more of and idea as to how each city/area will feel size wise while driving around it.
Much appreciated, and I'm a big fan of Dallas. If I could merge aspects of Dallas and Austin (mainly the hills and topography), that would be the perfect Texas city in my opinion.
Woooow this is what ive been looking for!!! Brother you gave the perfect answer, as an electrical contractor (new business) im trying to move out from Philadelphia to Texas in few months but i can’t make up my mind between the 5 cities Austin-Dallas-fort worth-san antonio or Houston, idk which one has the most residential construction going on
Houston is actually more densely compact inside and outside of its urban core than Austin is despite its large city limits. Inner loop Houston crushes central Austin in just about every metric outside of a few subjective things and on foot pedestrian experience
She from Austin what do you expect she’s going to go against Houston listen to how she’s talking only more positive way about Austin she’s extremely bias ( Houston ) is the Spot .
Ouch, Jamar! Were you able to watch all the way through? There were quite a few areas where Houston took the win. Would love to hear what you love about HTX and work it into future topics. Always good to hear from boots on the ground.
0:48 Did you actually just say Austin is the tenth most populous city in the state??? It’s number four. Name any city other than Houston, San Antonio and Dallas that’s bigger. Lubbock (blech) is the tenth largest city in Texas.
Thanks for pointing that out! It was actually meant as the 10th most populous city in the stateS / country rather than in TX. We'll have to find a good way to add an "s" to this piece...

Having lived in both cities, I think you made a really unbiased and fair comparison between the cities.
Thanks so much for that feedback - I really appreciate it!

I live in both cities and Austin traffic is just as bad as Houston.
It's definitely my least favorite thing about Austin!

When you think of Texas both Houston and Austin always come to mind 🤔
Thanks for tuning in, Jeremy!
Thnx
Absolutely!

Please stop the background music after introduction. We are here to learn not dance 😊 Love your videos and thank you
Haha, we have to throw in a little fun here and there 😉 We’ll definitely pay attention to that moving forward.
houston got better food and more diversity more culture. austins more pretty.more laid back.
Completely agree!
I'm torn, was born in Houston, but I like Austin especially with it's tech industry. Difficult choice for me.
It's really tough! They're both great cities in their own ways. I'm from San Antonio and can definitely relate to what you're saying.

H town imo for the win
Thanks, James! Do you currently live in Houston? Always love hearing what people like about their cities 🙌🏼
@@MovingATX ive lived in both austin and houston, currently in dallas.
@@uneyedentified2017 Dallas is a great spot also. Hope you're enjoying it!
