I've owned a Stinger for 2 years now. Almost the perfect car as far as I'm concerned. Despite it's insane power and torque it's so comfortable I can easily drive it 800KM in a day (e.g. Sydney to Gold Coast) in a day and not be tired

Thanks for the review which is quite informative. I work in market research and when I am about to buy a new car I do as much research and test driving once I have narrowed down my selections. I did the same exercise before I bought my latest dream machine in March this year. I reviewed and compared the 3 German vehicles that had similar engine capacity and performance, as well as equipment and there was daylight between the Stinger GT and the 3 Germans. Here in Australia, the Stinger comes standard with everything at no extra costs. By the time you add all the extras to the German cars, they cost between 60K - 70K for an equivalent to the Stinger. We also have a 7 year warranty which extend to 10 years if serviced by the same dealer. Very hard to beat.
No contest. The Stinger has amazing performance and handling, is great on a long drive and is an absolute head turner. The quality is also fantastic.
My Stinger GT is easily the best value for money car I have ever had and I love getting into it and having an amazing driving experience. I have had some fantastic cars in the past including a Merc and this Stinger takes some beating.
Happy to put up with the stigma of owning a Kia but that will change in time as more people wake up to how good Kia and Hyundai actually are in terms of what they offer.

Audi guy here, I wanted to "upgrade" my S4 to an S5 Sportback two years ago, and then I discovered the Stinger at my car show. I fell in love with it for all the reasons mentioned here, and a few more. Fantastic video, but what you forget to mention is the service quality you get from KIA vs. Audi or BMW. It's just cheaper, better, and they treat you like you're important to them. The warranty is better, and quite frankly I'm only [almost] 3 years in, but this KIA is aging BETTER than what I've seen from Audis and BMWs. Now, I know the brand prestige isn't there, but KIA & Hyundai are getting pretty darn serious these days, people need to change their perception of that brand, and fast. The other thing with the Stinger 3.3 is that it's an absolute SLEEPER of a car. That engine is literally sleeping and is begging to be awakened, even if it already produces 365 HP. I personally decided to have some fun; I took a bit of the 30K I've saved (versus the competition) & decided to mod the car. Changed the spark plugs, intakes, mid-pipes, and then jb4-tuned at map3 (+6 PSI both turbos, fuel control) and I've got almost 500 hp. Next up will be the exhaust + intercooler upgrade, and then I'll be over that number. I mean, the numbers don't lie. Take an S5 and change the exhaust, you get about +8 whp. Take a Stinger and change the exhaust, you get about +30 whp... and again, costs less. Sleeper! I don't regret a single penny I've put on this car so far.

I upgraded from a 2016 Ford Fusion SE which blew a $6000 transmission in 81,000 miles, to a 2018 Stinger GT2 AWD. I liked my Ford but there is no discussion about which is better in those classes. So for those who are not trying to compare Audis BMWs and Stingers which really we shouldn't because the Stinger is a hatchback that can haul firewood and go from 65 to 112 mph in an 18wheelers length on the freeway. That is the kind of performance the commuter wants. Im doing 140 miles a day in Oregon, Its a fun good car. Today I passed about 12 Audis 10 BMWs and 40 Chargers and the only Stinger I saw was the one I put my body into when I went to work.

The rear hatch does open automatically if you approach the rear hatch while car is locked and key is in your pocket, the lights will flash to a beeping sound and unless you move away to the side of the car the hatch will open after the third beep. Obviously you can also use key trunk button or hatch catch.

Either they transition them to electric sports cars when the industry shifts to that or they could go the same route Hyundai did with the Genesis brand. It started as a luxury lineup for Hyundai but became an independent brand under the Hyundai Company. Stinger could go the same route being an independent sports/luxury brand under the KIA banner.

Honestly, I was running after German badge because I was putting down premium money, so I wanted “premium brand”.
I test drove each and every one of them but nothing came close to what Stinger was offering, both in terms of power and comfort (and not to mention the judgemental looks that BMW and Audi sales reps gave).
And my partner said something that helped me make decision to buy a stinger - “all the german car designs look like it’s for middle-aged men, all basic and bland. We are in our 20s and we want to enjoy our youth, so ignore the badge and go for the features.”
I love the car just as much as her. ❤

Great video! I sold Kia's for 3 years and am a big fan of the progress Kia has made. Small correction to your jab at there being no "kick to open" trunk though. Kia offers a feature called "Smart power tailgate" where if you have the setting on and you have the key in your hand, pocket, or purse... when you come within 3 feet of the tailgate, you hear a beeping for 3 seconds before the tailgate opens automatically without having to push a button OR hop on 1 foot and wave your toes under the rear bumper. If you come close and DO NOT want the trunk to open, you just take a few steps away from the rear end, the beeping stops, and the tailgate will not open. In my option, that's better than competitor's options. Just thought I'd share!

I love my 2021 GT1. I'm constantly getting looks, compliments & people asking questions. I even got pulled over & when the cop got my insurance card he asked "This is a Kia?" In a shocked tone. Yes they've really stepped their game up. He said yes they have.

That's a crazy story. He gave me the ticket. I was like no warning? No 20 over's a lil excessive. In my mind I said if you say so. Later that day he CALLED me & said remember how you wanted that warning this morning? Yes. Well you're getting it due to a mistake on my part. Whhhaaaa?! I think it's because he put the speed limit at 30 on the ticket when really it's 45.

All the nitpicks are pretty easy to get used to. Honestly, my only issues with the vehicle after having owned it for 6 months or so are that I've had a couple of rattles that shouldn't be there, when I get a phone call, sometimes it won't unpause my music or audio book after I hang up and the gas tank is just too small, it needs another 4-6 gallons. Other than that the car has been flawless.

I have a blue stinger and I’ve been having this issue with it for 3 years now. Some times, when I hit the accelerator, it accelerate super slow. I mean it is that bad that I have to pull over and turn off/on the engine and it works fine again. I opened a case with Kia and took it to the dealership 3 times and all they tell me is that they can not see anything wrong in the log report of the car. I recorded the issue once and showed them the video but they told me that they need to see the issue in real time. They talk to my like I’m crazy. Well it never got fixed. Well the dealership is only good for oil change to be honest. Other than that safety issue, I like Stinger. Looks cool and like it’s features.

New KIAs (and I guess this one as well) dont have kick-to-open trunks, they open automatically if you approach the back side of the vehicle and stay there for a few seconds with the key in your pocket or anywhere on you. It works just fine, so I think it was just switched off so that you can walk around the vehicle without the trunk getting open constantly :-)

I was surprised that not all 2021 Stingers get that new 10.25 inch infotainment screen but I guess thats one of the differences between European and US versions. They’re cool but if I go Korean, it would be the G70. Not the 2021 model bcz those taillights look awful but the model out now. The 2019. Plus that also got Motor Trend Import Car of the Year. There’s too much ‘fakery’ on the Stinger that kinda takes me out of it. I’d take the S5 Sportback Prestige over the Stinger.

Great video! I have a 2019 Kia Stinger GTS ''AWD" and 2020 Hyundai Veloster N. My stinger is only stage 1 and runs high 11's on stock turbos and 93 octane. Stage 2 tune with full boltons is getting close to running 10's on stock turbos. Don't think any new car in the price range can compete. They only made 800 of the GTS and it doesn't say Kia on the back only the front, so it get tons of people looking hard trying to figure out what kind of car it is lol. I'm personally selling both car this spring and getting an Audi TTRS, not because the Stinger isn't amazing I'm just always upgrading and want to put my money in 1 car. From a car guy that owns one, I highly recommend the Stinger!

Isn't that the 1 of 800 GT S? Cus I'm fairly certain that that GORGEOUS color is only on the GT S. My dad has a 2021 Stinger GT. The dealership offered him a GT S, but my dad really wanted the blue GT. They offered a similar price too. Honestly, I can't decide what looks better. Blue or orange. Orange would be awesome and would stand out. Then again, blue also stands out on today's roads. Tho I feel like that won't last. I feel like cars go back and forth between kind of basic colors like white, grey and black, and really bright, vibrant colors.

They really need to push more how a excellent winter car it is. It eats slush and snow, hugs ice, but above all. They should also sell it under the E brand..
The damn thing actually works flawlessly at -20C or below.. It's handsdown the best winter car I've ever had. Most other turbofed cars just shouldn't be cold started, my Mustang blew at -10C, my BMW refused to work at - 12C, my Volvo? Fuggedaboudiut. As person living in Northern Scandinavia, I am so happy we finally got a fun winter car.
As a bonus, you can fit a 2.5M christmas tree in in, with no issues. Try that in the competition. :P
My only complaint is, it is too soft sounding, the exhaust could be just a little louder. And for gods sake lift it out of the Kia branding, you are killing your best car by being stubborn@Kia.
