    "It's as wet as a cow made of liquid" - LOL
    Great review. I love my 2019 Stinger GT2 AWD. It has loads of features (as you point out) and the 365HP twin-turbo keeps me from feeling inadequate next to Mustangs, Chargers and yes, Audis and BMWs (aka badge snobs). For the price, Kia knocked this one outta the park. I just hope they don't discontinue them in 2022 as the recent rumours have been saying. However, at this point they're still somewhat rare and uncommon on the road and elicit compliments from people in parking lots. I had a guy in a 'vette Stingray recently ask me a lot of questions about it in a parking lot.

    Hi Tim, you did a great review on the Kia Stinger. I recently purchased a 2022 Kia Stinger GT2 here in the states and it is awesome! I noticed in your video that you said the Stinger's driving feel reminded you of the E39 BMW 5 series. As we know, Hyundai/Kia hired former BMW M boss Albert Biermann away from BMW. It's no secret that Albert developed the performance aspect for the Kia Stinger. BUT, Albert Biermann was also known for being "the man" behind the excellent E39 BMW M5.

    I have a theory that Albert Biermann essentially developed the Kia Stinger based heavily off of his original E39 M5. That is to say, the Kia Stinger drives like a E39 BMW M5. Let's look at the engine power specs:

    E39 BMW M5

    394 HP @ 6600
    369 lb/ft torque @ 3800

    2022 Kia Stinger

    368 HP @ 6000
    376 lb/ft torque @ 1300

    The E39 M5 has only 26 more horsepower than the Stinger. The Stinger has 7 more lb/ft of torque so the numbers are similar. The M5 has a heavy engine V8 while Stinger uses a twin turbo V6 so the 0 to 60 times are similar as well. I've always wanted to get a new M5, but didn't feel like spending over $100,000 USD. I feel like my Kia Stinger is giving me most, if not all of the performance of the original E39 M5, being that Albert Biermann was the man behind both of these cars.
    What do you think Tim? Does the Kia Stinger drive and feel like the E39 M5?

    Excellent review and enjoyed it. I feel sorry for badge snobs as they don't know what they are missing out on by simply dismissing Kia.
    I did a lot of research and testing here in Oz before buying my top of the range Stinger GT last year, and when all things considered, such as driving experience, performance, standard equipment, warranty and price, this beats anything on the road. Value for money and bang for bucks, I am not sure what gets close to it here in Oz. Best car I have ever owned and driven and I have had some wonderful cars in the past, including a Merc, which was also great.
    Cheers from Oz.

    Day in the life of a Stinger Owner:
    Every day I get compliments on my Black Kia AWD Stinger. Just today alone, my neighbor sees me driving out of my driveway and stops to compliment the look of the car. Then off to the carwash two guys there give me the thumps up. Then off to gas station to fill her up, the guy at the next gas pump says, damn that's a nice car, then as I pull out and get stuck at a traffic light a man drives his truck up next to me, rolls his window down and says I noticed your car, is a Maserati? I said it's a Kia and he couldn't believe it. He said the Maserati dealership is down the street and the Stinger looks like one. I was curious so I drove to the dealership and the Maserati salesmen comes out and says to me that's a great looking car. you have All this in the afternoon with my Stinger. Love it!!

      @@TimRodieDrivesStuff I traded it in for the Polestar 2 ... which is a good car. But as you know it has a slightly smaller boot and a firmer ride - I do miss the Stinger.
      I tried to explain to my Audi/BMW mates, their cars are like a grown up Greyhound ... where the Stinger was like a puppy wagging it's tails and just having fun. Yeah won't beat an Audi S5 or BMW 440 around a track, but on the normal roads I'd have more fun and be more comfortable on long motorway trips.
      But loving the EV life now ... don't miss petrol stations and apart from North Cost 500 trips with the lads, I don't do over 200 miles so it's perfect for us.

      @@Gdank72 Agree with your comments about the Stinger. I did a comparison for an equivalent specced Audi and BMW compared to the Stinger here in Oz and they were approximately twice the price. This is one of the few cars we get cheaper here in Oz than the UK. The GT is £33,000 GBP ($60,000 AUD) here.
    Can't find a price for the GTS. Dont think we get it yet (if eva?).
    They hold their price reasonably well too. Pity as I wanted them to depreciate like an Audi brick and snap one up for a song.
    PS: An S5 (only comes in 6cyl 3.0L Turbo Petrol here) is £66,000 GBP ($120,000 AUD) so no comparison unfortunately.

      @TimRodieDrivesStuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah - I did have a bit in the video about that but cut it out (it was a bit long). A monthly finance package on an Audi S5 is going to be cheaper than on the Kia for exactly that reason!

    • @theoradu732
      @theoradu732 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TimRodieDrivesStuff that's because Kia and Audi have different pricing strategies, nothing to do with the residual value. Audi only charges you for the depreciation, so after 3 years the car is worth pretty much what the final payment is (or even less, depending on mileage). Kia, on the other hand, charges more per month, but the final payment is a lot less than the actual value of the car (meaning you actually build some equity). The final payment with a Stinger (on a 3 year PCP plan) is £16-17k, and the value of the car is £25-26k.
