£450 for 3 men for a day?! Good luck getting qualified, insured professionals for that! £200-250 per man per day, 3 men 1 day = £600-750 plus waste removal.

For 3 men for a day + chipper it's $150 per hour $1,250 Australian dollars,
Good luck getting any work with them prices, I wouldnt pay anyone £750 to cut a few bits of wood off a tree and take it away to burn. £450 sounds like a decent price.
@@carlbrassington3003 there is more to it than that and is a very dangerous job that is not worth for peanuts and there's alot of insurance and tool costs and waste aswell is not cheap to dispose of. Also prices have gone up
£200 - 250 per man per day? £200 a day is well over the 50K a year mark, what makes you think tree surgeons are paid so much?
3men for a day + fuel + insurances, and their "expert" says £450, more like £600-£700.

+AresGaming when I see this program reporting on things I know a bit about, for example I have a reasonable idea how much things like this cost and how much people in that trade charge/get paid, (I'm in the building industry so similar outlays in terms of insurances/fuel costs etc. and rates of pay) it makes me think that when they report on topics I haven't got a clue about there must be people who are in-the-know watching at home and thinking the same.

As tree surgeons do you ever struggled with lower back pain?
In Florida I ran a 12 man crew . 2000 minimum a day or it was my a$$. We’d trim palms for three months in golf courses. 4 up the rest down . After that trim oaks . For three ...after that homeowners and odd associations. 450 is cheap . Doesn’t matter what the job is ...it matters how much time we need to do it. We got paid three hundred once to get a cat out of tree . Took 2 hours. I told her to just leave it there It would come down..She got the bill she freaked, I don’t know what the hell she was expecting.Should’ve been 450. With 10 guys watching.
450 for 3 men and a chipper is cheap.

My garden is surrounded by thick concrete panels with steel retaining bars in them and is 6 foot high.
My neighbour had an enormous 75 foot high tree next to it.They decided to get it removed as it took up so much space.
Enter the “tree surgeon” and his crew. I watched them preparing to start cutting it and knew exactly what was going to happen when they did cut it as they obviously didn’t know the safety procedures about tree felling.
I told him to ensure that they didn’t damage my fence and his angry reply was “I do this for a living lady.I know what I’m doing“.
I told my neighbour that if the concrete fence was damaged then she would have to pay for repairing it,stood back and waited for what I knew would happen.Sure enough a huge limb swung away from the tree and smashed the top 2 panels and the upright pillar of my wall to pieces.
When I asked to see his certification as a fully trained tree surgeon I got a mouthful of abuse as he could tell I knew he wasn’t.
My neighbour had to pay £450 to get my fence repaired.
The reason I knew he wasn’t certified is because I love watching certified arborists at work in the flesh and on TH-cam.
I left him and my neighbour having a slanging match over the damage,and reported him and his so called company to the police as being fraudulent as his lack of knowledge could cost someone their lives,including the people working with him.The police came out and told him he could be charged with causing criminal damage if I wanted to press charges against him.Also for endangering people’s lives by pretending to be qualified.
I wasn’t as upset about the fence as I let them think I was because I knew she’d pay for the repairs because I told her that I would call the police to report the criminal damage and take her to the small claims court if she didn’t.As her son was frequently in trouble with the police I knew she wouldn’t want to go down that path.
Moral of the story….check any workman’s credentials if they claim to be qualified before employing them.

i use a pull saw for this kind of thing its so much safer
Even using a wrong chainsaw. Ever hear of a stihl Ms200t.
Actually once a top handle gets to small for the work you’d step up to a saw to suit. I dismantle with a 395xp of 500i most days.

If they had a sthil pole saw then it would take maybe an hour or hour and a half
it might mean a trip to the cemetery if that chainsaw or ladder slips.

Tbh I dont know what they charged. They might be cowboys but their not major con artists like the other “vairy” guys. They might work a bit dodgy and don’t have much experience but certainly not the worst I’ve seen. When I was up and coming g in tree work I used to bend rules to get a job done. Using ladders etc. But I made ducking sure I was always tied in with a harness somewhere!
1. Tree surgeons are the SAS of horticulture.
2. Tree surgeons are not fat.
3. Laurel is an evergreen shrub. Not a tree.
Hope HSE watched this show and threw the dam book at them!

It just goes to show that when it comes to trees, you really need to get a professional in, check all their insurances first, look for previous customer feedback and, at the very least, when they start work, make sure you see chainsaw trousers and helmets. For everything.... get an expert!
In 1998 it mite of been 450 3 men a days work now your looking at twice that I wouldn’t do that for less than 900
they also forget to mention that the other presenter was nicked for fraud!!

Few comments on the pricing I agree there expert must be the poorest arborist in the business with quotes like that I might solicit him to work for me I’ll do the quoting obviously I’ll get him to do the work and pay him and his grounds man and chipper operator I’d be loaded in 3 months
