The more of these I watch, the more I wonder about the chances of anyone finding a genuinely honest tradesman to do a good job. The temptation to add unnecessary jobs and charges is always there.
14 k is a lot for that roof. But I’d like to see their fucking expert do it for 4k taking into consideration tiles at a quid plus a throw and about £2000 worth of scaffolding just to comply with Elf and Safety. Not to mention Tyvek at £90 a roll, plus nail and batten. £8500 would be my guess if that was in Hastings.

Its rather shocking to learn but taking a relatively small sum of money from the government is nothing compared to trying to extort a pleasant elderly man of £14000 for a £5000 roof when only a £450 repair is necessary, the salesman in question should go to prison for that.

The BBC ripped the British tax payer off by handing over 56000 GBP to Dan for approx. 30 days' work in total. Yes, the BBC themselves said they paid Dan for a few days' work every 3 months between 2008 and 2011. And it wasn't even proper work. He was just a bike driving sidekick to make Matt look less feminine (which didn't work, because it made Matt & Dan look like a gay couple). I wonder what would happen if any tradesman charged 56000 GBP for 30 days' work. He would find himself on the Rogue Traders program, no doubt.
The guy investigatings mum owned nursing homes and conned many many elderly people out of there homes.... So I guess when he inherit and are living off that money he would be slightly guilt driven

Scaffold £800 Tiles 70p each plus vat Batons 25p a metre Felt 2 rolls at £40 each Ridge lead.. Etc I'd eat it for £4000 and finish in a day with my lads...
the whole point is he doesn't need a new roof and as a roofer looking at it probably just replace the ridge with dry ridge in what i would do for 200-250
