Thanks for the vid. Got me thinking again and pulled the trigger on a dual 7742. Now to start selling off my ryzens and get more of these. Love how the price came down so much.
2:43 As a car guy I would never skip or forget to torque down my nuts or screws on car unless I’m in a really big hurry, but even though I will still do it or do it when I come back. Remember better safe than sorry you don’t want any of your nuts backing out or being un even especially when you’re driving.
Yeah my Supermicro didnt recognize my cheap little M.2 either. Got an SSD arriving today. Hopefully it will recognize that. Trying to do windows first for HWInfo stats, then eventually place on HiveOs
The ipmi port is similar to idrac on dell servers. Quite neat. Idrac can be connected to openmanage allows you to manage, monitor and deploy OS to individual dell poweredge servers from one interface. Ie I have a preconfigured unix debian os with xmrig as iso image that I simply mount and boot to with openmanage. Takes 5 minutes to deploy a new server.
for thermal paste application.. if in doubt... Spread it yourself with a credit card or similar.... to get coverage across the full CPU IHS...... job done
Get an IceGiant cooler, hands down the best air cooler for Epyc/Threadrpper. I run it on my 7551P I have never seen over 55c on it. Also the ram speed on these Epycs DOES seem to matter a decent amount for mining, I would imagine the more cores the more it matters, had a seating issue and lost a few channels and lost a fair bit from having 2 ram channels down. (edit: I am impressed that cooler did that well!)
It's damn near impossible to air cool a threadripper for CPU mining, it just gets up to 103 at times. I'm heading that water is the way to go, but I'm done with all this water cooling stuff. Can't be botheted when it's time to clean up loops.
Soooo...if you happen to have a LOT of rack servers, about 3 dozen, with 4 Xeons each, does this mean you could effectively go mining??? I just found out about CPU mining yesterday...lol
Nice. I was thinking to buy something similar but don't know if it's worth the investment?. What is the hash rate in ZEPHYR for example? I know is difficult to beat the 7950X when we talk about price. Thanks!
@@RabidMining That's almost 2.5 7950's CPU's. Great hash rate. I don't know if you buy it from Chine you may have good deal. But to get similar hash rate with 7950x you will need to buy 2 -3 motherboards and CPU's + Memory + SSD + nice coolers +power supply's and we get almost $3000. Even if you buy it for the same amount which I don't believe is that much even then you still win by saving space. Good luck and happy mining!
Can you make a video on how to get maximum hashrate out of a setup? I'm struggeling with my dual 7551 mainboard to get to the maximum possible hashrate. Is HiveOS helping with that stuff? Since setting up the config file for xmrig does has its limits... Or is there even a way, to fully utilize two 7551s on a single mainboard? I know, that they dont have enough L3 cache to use all 128 threads, but the hashrate listed on many hashrate listings is about 30k. I am at 12k at best...
Hey man, i just tried my dual supermicro motherboard, and it booted great, vga worked and saw main menu on the screen. Turned it off, and it won't boot anymore, no power led whatsoever, only blinking heartbeat light on. Did you encounter anything similar? About to contact seller, just annoyed that it worked few minutes ago. Psu is rm1000x. Gutted 😢
Thinking about mining with off grid solar panels. The the Cost for 1 5950x rig is about twice but energy and warm is free. Do you think its still good moment for investing so much in cpu mining now?
This is literally quite insane to be honest, i wonder how much refurbish smartphones i would have been able to buy with just the price of the motherboard LOL
"What do you think your ROI will be?" Ummm, never? This is a complete waste of time (and money) by somebody who simply isn't getting the message that GPU/CPU mining for daily profit is essentially dead. Sure, you can spec-mine some shitcoin, but just buy it instead!
Thank you I'm trying to work out is 8gb or 16gb per stick same speed proform better what I'm trying to say is should I buy 8gb 2660mhz or 16gb 2660mhz each stick and thank you for your time
What are you paying per kWh? Given even the lowest price I have see for the CPU ($2098+- USD on Newegg 08/14/23) , and a cost of 0.10 USD it would take approx 4+ years for ROI to break virtually anywhere in the US. Add in the memory and the cooler and I think a miner without free electricity would be looking a 5+ years just to break even. Given that the avg price of kWh in US of btw $0.16 to $0.26 this is a money loser. Even in Quebec at $0.73 CA and a total hardware cost of $2300 USD a miner would be years before breaking even on capital outlay.
Way too MUCH thermal paste!! I could imagine it drying up and hurting the temps later but I am no expert and maybe it just looks like a lot of paste since it is a huge cpu! Congrats on the new rig!
what gets me pissed is that your captions are same copy/paste thing over n over for all the videos, you never talk about pricing and rarity of items (specially for this epyc cpu). is this epyc at this n that price worth it for a cpu miner etc. add a video-specific details to the top of your video captions and then the copy/paste thing. maybe you got the cpu for free from some other group but at least talk about other parts, ram, mobo, psu
Not anymore the price went up now like anyhing in crypto when profit picks up hardware costs a lot more price depends on each person and there location. So what I found it for could be 2x for someone else or maybe someone found it for even cheaper.

Got 4 of these on the clore marked place in 16 and 24 core, brings in 11000 sats each per day with 2 RTX A2000 cards in there also.
Have been thinking about getting a 7742 as well, can’t wait to see the rest results over various coins!
Keep dreamin pal

Most newer boards won't read a SATA III m.2 drive - They only work with NVMe m.2 drives
You’ll want the battery for the clock. I can’t speak to altcoins, but bitcoin requires a time stamp within about 2 hours of last block time stamp.
Congratulations. Now get Mining!! RTM 🚀
I have some of those coolers, you can slide the screws within the slots on the base of the cooler so you can install it front to back or back to front
FINALLLYYY THE EPYC BUILD HERE!

Nice
best cpu mining content as always, cant wait to see the spreadsheet with all the numbers
Coming soon!
Sometimes you disable m.2 with jumpers to enable more free CPU lanes for more features in motherboard
Whoa.. cool build!!
Great video! I've been tempted to buy an epyc for a little while. Where did you buy yours from? Can you provide a link?
cant wait for the next one
I have a 1950x and it came with the little torque driver! Still have it too know exactly where it's at lol
Yea im thinking about building out an epyc just because the cpus are cheap right now but idk??? Mobos are what $300 ish??
Ive done an x with dot in center of each v, and always haf great soread and cooling

man looking nice! wish you could undervolt and stuff though
You need all your ram slots full.
the epycs i have bought say they are unlocked, havent built my dual cpu rig yet but will post some stuff once i do
Unlocked means not vendor locked lots are made for Dell only.
@@RabidMining oh ok, now i recall mine are not vendor locked
Hello I got my own beast…. Dual Xeon 2678v3 48 cores, 240 Gb ram….. been playing for a while……. Enjoy
If you ever wanna do some testing let me know
@andreualonso5087 nice sounds good
How much are you earning a day?
@@sategllib2191 in NiceHash about 1,30$ a day
yeah im thinking of dual 2683 V4 build. The Cpus are like $15 each, mem is pricey still though :(
SICK!! LG!
What motherboard are you using? It's not the one in the description
H11SSL-i
1) Too much thermal paste
2) SP3 heatsink mobo screws will bottom out. No torque screwdriver is required.
What's the hashrate for Scala?
Soooo...if you happen to have a LOT of rack servers, about 3 dozen, with 4 Xeons each, does this mean you could effectively go mining???
I just found out about CPU mining yesterday...lol
Intels suck for mining but there are a few coins they are ok at.
Mr.Rabid, would you rather build one of these, or have 2x CPU miners running Ryzen 9 3950X to mine Monero?
Was the EPYC but there price went up so not worth it now.
I love this video keep it up
Thx
Where did you get everything and how much was it all?
i was wondering myself, he did not said anyhing
What are you mining on this?
Why not let us know -> How much was the kit and where did you buy it?
That is all we care about !
2700 CAD

hey bud this looks awesome. im going to copy you ok?
BTW what coin is good to mine right now for cpu?
I’m very interested to find out if buying one of these is better value than buying several 3900x’s. Where did you purchase all these parts from?
Cpu mining ram size or speed effect profitability?
Depends on the coin size no speed yes but depends on the algo the coin uses.
Awesome video!
Thanks for the visit
Is this still profitable? I have 3 3970x still in raptoreum.
I never got m.2 to work with hive. But it detected in truenas
Doesn't amd chips run ram at 3200 for optimal performance with the cpu!
will testing be done in live?

@Ravwski can't answer that so far it is better but not sure long term
Yo should have gone with 3200Mhz ram to get more bandwidth: 8bytes * 8 channel * 2666 = 170GB/s
Could you please list everything I don't see anything list of the things you have built in you description
E-THER-NET RABID NOT EH-THER-NET. PLEASE I CANT LISTEN TO IT ANYMORE!!!!!!

How much hash do you get on monero with this CPU?

Is the 7551 ok ?
I was wondering if flux pouw will be able to cpu mine on it when not being used for POUW
7551 lacks the l3 cache for most coins
@@RabidMining okay thanks for the clarification
That's why they are so cheap lol

M2 was not detected could be because you need to take CPU out and reinstall so all pins connect to board

super annoying that you never say what motherboard you're using and then give a completely different one in the description
