- FIRST LOOK: The Ranger Raptor is finally here and Ford wants to deliver the performance. Under the hood there is an 3.0L EcoBoost engine producing 405HP & mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. On the outside you will discover a Raptor specific grill, 3.5 inches of extra width, 17in wheels & 33in tires. On the inside you will be greeted by performance seating, 12in infotainment screen and digital gauge cluster. Is the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor a better performance truck than a Colorado ZR2?

@@2011buddylee I’ll believe that when I see it. I’m also in Cali and every single Ford dealer still has massive markups across the board, F150’s, F250’s, Broncos, even Mustangs. Broncos still have a 8-12,000 dollar markup if not more.
The way the current market is heading, I don't see dealer mark ups. Kaliforastan is a different story.
Its friggin DISGUSTING these mark ups the dealerships charge. But hey, if the schmucks stopped paying it they wouldnt be charging it! I turned down a hell cat because they wanted 20k mark up which is PURE GREED in my opinion. It would have been my 5th car with these guys over the years and the salesmen was embarrassed, said ownership wont budge, i said have fun selling that to someone else! and havent gone back since.
@@ShUisREAL Absolutely right. I don't blame the dealerships for marking up as much as I blame the idiots for paying the premiums. Have some self-control, people!
That's the main reason I was hoping they would offer a Tremor package on the 2024. Didn't happen and probably for the same reason so that more stealerships could gouge Raptor buyers. Of course they would have probably done the same thing with a Tremor anyway. I'll just keep my low mileage F-150 and be happy when it's paid off in a few months.

Ford really did a nice job! The Ranger Raptor looks fantastic, inside and out.
First off, Joe, you and Laurie are truly the best in the business doing these reviews/presentations!! Second, the truck looks amazing, the V6 and other amenities makes me want one, it is definitely, BADASS!! Nice job!!
The tech in the newest offerings is really knocking me out, so impressive. Now, if they could only maybe generate a hologram of a bad ass engine bay when the hood opens, that would be great, that engine looks like an space alien invader. Awesome episode Lori and Joe!!!

That thing is sweet. Love the interior and the orange. Should have a sunroof for sure. Even Colorado finally got that right. Competition will be fierce with these midsize trucks now.

The truck looks great; good size for us Suburban dwellers & can still haul most supplies for home projects. 👍🏻 $59K seems to aligned with Gladiator, Tacoma TRD Pro, & ZR2/AT4X.
Wish it had a sport mode. Love they went with a V-6, better than the 4-cylinder in the new Tacoma and Colorado ZR2. Other things need to be added to this Raptor would be rear seat air vents. Also need to add ventilated seats and a moonroof. The Colorado seems to have "most" of the things I want in my next truck, but after viewing some videos there seem to be some quirky things (like no steering wheel radio control, etc). Still waiting to see if the new Tacoma TRD Pro will have an option of black leather, those red seats are far too flashy for me.
it has Sport mode btw. I just got mine here in the Philippines. I absolutely love it. no complaints especially it's 4 -cyclinder, it's diesel efficient.
Well they went the V6 for speed, which is what this truck is built for. This isn't a rock crawler like the ZR2 and Tacoma TRD Pro.
I think the biggest reason they moved the front axle line forward was so that they can get the 33s and later 35s in the wheel well and maintain the crash bars. I'm willing to bet given the space in the wheel wells and the known existence of the AEV Colorado/Canyon on 35s, that a 35 package is coming.
No , i have this car and i fitted 35s , so much rubbing , so i got stock tires back
@@user-lz4sg2bx4r I’m not saying they would fit straight away, but that Ford has something up their sleeve to fit 35s as they did to up 35s to 37s on the F150 Raptor.

Ford engineer in another review said they did that so they could add more cooling capacity for the twin turbo V6s which includes the optional 2.7L in the non-Raptor trucks.
I like the way it looks. It, in my opinion, looks much better than the outgoing model. I also like that it has a V6. I suspect it will be rather pricey

MSRP might not be too bad, it's the dealer markups that will kill the overall value of this truck.

However if this Ford Ranger Raptor existed back when I had my appraisal practice and made quite a bit more income than I do today, I know I would have been highly interested in the Raptor back then but only if it were priced right. Back in 18 when I bought my ZR2 I remember I paid cash. I was able to negotiate out the door that included them swapping my tires out for KO2s 33s for an even 40k out the door. So during my journey back I was out of the car scene and 5 or 6 years later when I finally caught a break that was not too terribly long ago roughly 8 months now that I was blessed to have made it I have been in shock seeing and hearing the insane prices of all vehicles that are out of reach even for the wealthy. Some of them are as much as a 3 bed 2 bath 1700 square foot home! It's unbelievable! I'm going to go ahead and hedge my guess lol. Ranger Raptor exactly like you reviewed will be 69,300 to 74,600 and I very well maybe coming in a little too low. Back in 18 that would equate to 48k to 51k. Which was in my able to afford price range. The car industry has got to be right on the brink of the exact same thing that happened back in 2009 when the real estate housing bubble burst and when it did hidden behind the bubble exposed the true market value and the insane inflated property values. Talking in some cases inflation prices were double the actual market value and I'm thinking the car industry is on the verge of its own bubble just about to explode. I don't see how it cant. It's either dealers wake up and all deflate the bubble slowly carefully and come back to reality or the bust will happen and it's hard to predict with the car industry market valuation as it's simply not as cut and dry as real estate valuation. Anyways my guess is a little north of 70k! It's a fine ride and I'd love to have one and if I ever do it will no doubt be used!

ZR2 looks like a better setup for rock crawling while the baby Raptor is more of a high-speed runner. Just the engine choice alone makes each more specialized. Really liking how each manufacturer is really dialing in their trucks making each one a choice on your lifestyle. Nissian made a traditional and more affordable truck with more analog features, Chevy is on payload and ground clearance, Ford is high speed racing and sticking with what made the Maverick popular, Honda/ Hyundai are small SUV like rides for someone that needs a bed, Jeep well does Jeep things.....Now curious to see Toyota in the next few weeks and we have all the new players ready to go.
The pricing on this will be key! I’m thinking somewhere in the 55-60k range. With how pricing for the f150 raptor is inflated I can only imagine how this will go for dealers. 😔
We've got the all new ranger raptor in dubai for awhile already, and the price here is 260,000 AED wich is equal to 70.000 US dollars.. Wich is not affordable for the average person here
We also got the ford ranger and its 47-93k Australian AUD which is quite expensive

@@Twinnzllc a midsize truck with fox long travel suspension. Heated and cooled seats. 400hp. A truck that can jump... Get 20 mpg or better and idle in 125 degree heat for as many hours as you have fuel without overheating. Plus has radar cruise. Full surround cameras power tail gate and like 12 airbags that you can get tboned at 45 mph and not break a bone.
It's an amazing time to be alive.
The Zr2 just have way more gadgets you can equip to the truck. You can get the roof light bar and second one for the grill, plus beadlock tires. Same on the Canyon side of things.

I much prefer the shifter knob in your generation more than the new one, it looks more truck like IMO. And I can only imagine the price markup the 6th gen are going to get 🙄

Love how he says “ its not a mud/rock crawler its more of a baja truck” then proceeds to talk about approach angle and 360 visibility because those help in a desert going 70 mph
Well you better have some approach angle while high speed off roading it would suck to have little approach angle and then nose into the face of a jump

I believe it's not bad but it is missing a lot of character compared to the new competitors. The design is very reserved.

O.K. Raiti. This is the MOST fluid review of yours I have ever watched with all info no B.S. You talk and I listen. Loads of info, but in a stream of consciousness that doesn't seem to break. Just a huge load! You the man!! The truck's really great also. Love the Ranger and this is the icing on the cake. Regular Ranger is seriously lousy on miles per gallon for it's size, so you might as well get the whole enchilada and go for this beauty. Love it. Thanks for the great review. Last, wonder if there is only one interior color like the Lariat Maverick, etc., or there might be another? So tired of boring gray/black.

At this trim level it should come with a raptor labeled spray in bed liner. Ford is so overpriced now.. they went crazy during Covid with mark ups.
Had one dealer try to grovel, justify and explain it! Electricity, water, building rent all with Covid shutdowns. I was like and? Stealerships been robbing consumers for over 75 plus years! Now it’s our turn
And every other manufacturer didn’t? This is an industry problem, not a Ford problem.

Ford stated a few hours ago that the Raptor will start around $56K! That means with markups, we are probably looking at around a $65K+ Ranger.
For me it will be 56k 😊 no markups here
Ford has been mad at dealers about the markups. So if you actually order one through a dealer, I would bet that you will get MSRP.
Fuck that, for under 55,000 youd be able to get a base zr2 out the door
And then you will see it at Mecum Auctions selling for $85,000.

Looks sharp and entering a very competitive space in the high performance mid-size trucks. Pretty sad though that manufacturers have priced these trucks up to $55K-$60K already seems like they are getting way overpriced already and that's excluding the absurd mark-ups we are going to find at dealerships.

Love this little monster! Forza Horizon 5 has the 2019 version which we don’t get here in the US. The 150 Raptor and now the Raptor R are my favorite trucks. Normally not a truck guy but boy oh boy!

I am a GM guy, but I will tell you that the previous Colorado LT that I drove was a nightmare and swayed on the road and handled like crap. Felt like the wind could push me over and interfere with handling. For the price, you could just buy a Ford Ranger Raptor and a new Mustang Eco boost for your girl.

It is actually saying KO3 on these tires.
Physical knobs for the HVAC controls is great except I don't see any buttons to chose the vents. I suspect you have to go into the screen to change this. The interior looks pretty good but I think the new '24 Taco is a bit better with materials choice. Between the new Taco, the new Canyon, and the new Ranger, the midsize truck wars are really heating up

That Ranger is larger and heavier than my 2003 single cab F150 was! I'd like to see Ford bring back a real compact truck, with the naturally aspirated version of the 2.3, and offer a manual transmission. Ford can call it a Courier.
They have the maverick, no Manual obviously (that’s a pipe dream and never going to happen) but it’s a proper small truck and is honestly brilliant. More interior room than my ranger lol
