Hearing the devs praise this to heaven and call it quadruple A game and 70$ are are not overpriced because it's apparently "a really big world".
And then i see this.
Who asked for this? We want to role play what it's like to be a pirate, not a damn ship.

Not really. You can find treasure, talk to npc and vendors. Thats about it.
There is PvP Combat but this was on a PvE Server

Theres no sword fighting and bording is a short cutscene. Its mostly just ship battles

I agree with everything you said after playing the beta myself, I think this game is overpriced at about 70 when it will be released. I will wait couple of months for some deals and better price
Every time I see gampleay for Skull & Bones I have to go back to Sea of Thieves for some hours to mend my eyes.
Idk, I had a looot of fun in the beta.
I'll stick with Assassin's Creed Black Flag, still the best pirate game ever.

The game was quite fun. I played and streamed the entire 6 hour play though. But, I did have a friend that was part of the insider program that helped me to move through quickly and not waste time figuring it out. It's not assassin's creed. (i wish it was) This was just a taste test. I can see that there might be something here. I made it to having three ships just before I timed out. I am not a fan of the rpg stuff. But, I get it. Gotta have some type of grind. :) I agree. I skipped the convos. I just wanted co-op naval combat and that is what they gave us. There is pvp ship combat. We just did not get access in the demo.

I agree I quite enjoyed the game. I played the game with other 2 people that were new too. Was fun to figure out how all works. Wasnt even hard. We tried to do the world event to get pioneer reward but the ship were too strong. We ended up forming a group of 10 people on the official server and invited each other one server. We focused one ship by one. Unfortunatelly some of the people run out of time in middle of fight 😂

I played the lo ger closed beta ocer a year ago and the gane then was lots of fun. I didnt get a chance to get the 6 hours in thus time around even thiugh i had it installed. Had a busy weekend that week, didnt make it past the earky stage with the raft.
This game is gonna be a great time. Its definitely a niche gane so unless youre really into pirates and purate rpg's its gonna be a grind for you.
For people like me whos favorite time period ever was tue age of sail, it's ginna be epic!
Also, didn't we all sign a non disclosure agreement? Pretty sure you arent supposed to talk about gane features or stream game content until the game is officially releases. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's what a NDA means lol
There was no NDA for this closed beta. This went out to loads of people. Anyone could sign up
Feels like you didn't understand what was going on when you played. You can buy ammo if any type from the very beginning. You missed a lot of mechanics

@DEADMOOSE23 ill be honest I dunno if I even remember whether I knew you could buy ammo or not. But either way I was trying to do as much as possible in my 6 hours for this review so zi could've missed something
I wasted 2 hours in the beta on the tutorial because there was little to no instructions.
Yea the tutorial was not good
There is pvp and it was in beta however, its as lackluster as everything else in this game. To participate in pvp in the beta you had to find the event but you could only have 6 people participate in it at one time. There's no open world pvp anymore, only event based pvp that you may or may not be able to participate in

Man what a let down. I’m playing the beta now on PS5. I wanted a pirate role playing game, but got a pirate ship sim. Hopefully Ubisoft didn’t just ruin our chances for ever getting that. The industry tends take note when projects fail, and sometimes just chalks that up to lack of interest in a genre. I think CD Projekt RED could make a fantastic one with an in-depth story in Witcher 3 fashion, but with customizable characters. Well, here’s to hoping someone gets it right eventually.
Just replay black flag. Its the best thing we have. Ive not played the other pirate games but I think they're basically ship sims too right?
One day, one day we will get a proper pirate game where you can properly live out your pirate fantasy similar to Black Flag. This game unfortunately is not that game for me. Too much repetitive busy work and not enough plundering and battling off your ship as well as on. There will be an audience for this game surely, and the game looks and sounds very pleasant most if not all the time. But I just personally cannot come to terms with this. What a shame.

I know that Ubisoft mentioned their Black Flag Remake, but I also saw another cool concept for a pirate game called Sand Sails Pirate Legends. Seen a trailer and read the description, and that definitely is more my kind of pirate game, no news on it though unfortunately so guess it’s still the waiting game. 🤷♂️ 😅
1 thing im disappointed about is u can not explore anywhere on foot like a real pirate would do disappointing that its more of a battle ship game was hoping it would be like sea of thieves but disappointed that its nothing alike

Ubisoft literally lost the ball in its own game. They had the perfect blueprint for a pirate game from Black Flag, which was widely loved and approved by fans. And instead of building and improving on said blueprint , the chose to cut half its content, and release a generic, online only, live service and microtransaction heavy game. They shot their own foot. They took away what gamers like and filled the gap with the most hated features in modern gaming. And the grit of Ubisoft's CEO calling this game a AAAA game that is worth its money is insane.
This game could be one of the all time industry disasters!
Its launching after the hype has not only died but been forgotten in the a unmarked grave, the type of game it is, is going out of fashion with players, the publishers reputation is poor and it's development hell doesn't instill confidence.
Even if this game is extremely good, I think it could fail financially but if it's anything less, it will only be remembered for the sinking ship, disasters at sea, keel hauled, walking the plank, Mary celeste, hitting the iceberg, sinking without a trace. Swimming with the fishes, floundering under canon fire, scurvy, eaten by sharks, dashed on the rocks, taken aback, keel over, dead in the water, puns.
You can fast travel
Yes you can. It costs valuable gold that I always needed. Theres still a lot of travelling around despite the fast travel. If it was more exciting that would be fine
I actually want no forced pvp. I had enough of that nonsense in eve online and its one aspect i HATED with it. Elite dangerous did it far better, with pvp instances, private or solo instances. Whatever i earned in pve could be used in pvp if I wanted.
Thanks for the honesty at the end if you would get it or not. Sadly though this is why so often developers dont release betas or too much info as there have been so many instances where they did and it revealed a terrible game so their sales never materialized. Im thinking this might be the way this game goes.
Sadly being an mmo if people dont get into it there wont be content and then they click off the servers and poof youve got nothing for what you paid for.
PVP is in the game. you fight other player to get rare items ect.
Yeah. You can shoot at other players everywhere too.

@@TheStickz6 The only PvP in the game seem to be shooting at random people at the sea. If you want proper PvP sea battles with depth you need to play World of Warships instead.

@@TheStickz6Okay, so there is no PvP at all then. I only shot 2-3 times at other ships and didn't notice that nothing happened.
Perhaps it's to prevent "trolling". 3 people in co-op looting all single player ships they can find.That would scare solo players away from the game.
You have to remember this game is still an early stage. Most of the delays that happened were due to not working on the game but the company as his whole going through changes. Play the six hours and thought it was a really good game is his own game. In my opinion, there will be updates to improve it.

It has potential, but it’s ultimately disappointing. Ill try and keep it as brief as possible:
Character customisation is stupidly limited, you choose from a limited selection of unmodifiable faces, adjust skin tone slightly, and choose if youre fat, muscled or thin. Even the hairstyle selection is disappointing.
Clothing is again fairly limited, and none of the options look good. It looks like a campy cartoon pirate dress up wardrobe rather than clothes someone from that period would actually wear, and you can’t even change clothing colours.
There’s no “free roaming”. You’re either stuck on your ship or confined within a settlement. Black flag allowed you to fully free roam anywhere on foot, you can run around your ship, climb the rigging, and you could just up and jump off the ship and go swimming in the open ocean if you wanted. But not here, you’re locked into the helm.
The game is also not seamless. Its not as bad as starfield, but the constant stopping, loading screen and spawning separately on land is very immersion breaking. Again, black flag allowed you to just jump off your ship and swim to shore, or take a small dinghy back and forth.
There’s no actual ship boarding, its done via a brief cutscene, which means you can’t fail a boarding.
Theres no on foot combat, no swords, no flintlocks. It’s purely ship only.
There’s probably more things im missing, but overall, it just feels too limited.
This game wouldn’t even be considered cutting edge even before black flag was released. It’s just too limited and I fail to understand how a 10 year old game does everything better than this.
There is potential here, but it just feels lazily chucked together. Everything has been done so much better by other games.

Game is sick. Been playing solo and qith friends. It's not sea of thrives which I find like watching paint dry. This game has had me on the edge. If you don't give it a chance and stay close minded like this guy and most other reviews. This review is shit lol.

Graphically very poor, missions are all on your ship or walking on land with no combat on land at all. Just repetitive and boring as hell. They had all that opportunity and ruined it completely.

The "Brainless cult that bashes UBI/S&B 24/7" is so sad it's laughable. No one follows what has changed for the better (corporate restructuring, tons more focus on player feedback and back and forth discussions on ground level, play with fans, etc).
Maybe it'll be crap but theres no signs that it should be. And there's ESPECIALLY no fucking reason to stomp on a game for past mistakes or 6 hours of playing.
Well, looking at lots of content creators feeds recently it's like they get paid by some sinister shadow figure to turn off their brain processes and bash away.
There is not game like this, zero. Archeage comes closest but it is a mmo and had thousands of players. Sea of thieves have no depth, no progression, NOTHING that matters or had consequences.

I've been scouring the webs to find out some more on hands info on the game. Never expected people doing full on reviews from 6 hours of testing a beta. Not reviews on the beta. The entire game and it's future. With titles like "How bad is it?" or "Doomed to fail". What purpose do these have? The only thing that these do which I've seen so many times is keeping a detrimental echo chamber going on the bandwagon. Which time and time again kills games before they get a chance to do any course correcting, if needed.
Do you or anyone else not have any sense of responsibility and want credibility? If a title of a video already condemns its entire future without having any factual ground to stand on...its just to give creators views at the cost of...?
1/20 content creators doing vid on the beta use these titles, start bashing Uni and the game like a broken record, then say stupid shit like "I didn't even play the whole beta, this will hit the landfill anyhow" or "what is this gameplay loop, Sea of Thieves is better".
Can you form a group of the holy trinity in SoT? Can one play tank, one support, one DPS and use specializations through progression and group tactics to rule the seas in SoT or Black Flag? No. There is nothing that has ever had this design.
No because this is a _unique_ game that deserves to stand or fall on its own merits and how effective support and patching post launch. A Supportive/Neutral crowd tends to let things unfold on it's own.
I chose to write and vent here because of your positive remarks and surprised demeanor. Which led me to believe that " öthis guy can form his own opinions and seem to have thought for more than 5 seconds as to how this could be good and how it is this good gaming in general that outliers are given a chance.
I don't care more or less for any developer/publisher. They all fuck up at times, they all have or have had bad company politics and/or arrogance/stupidity enough to distance themselves from the very people that allow them to exist. People who are telling them honestly what they want, need and how to implement it. A carte blanche license to print money, imo.
Games that have a positive interaction between those that play them and those that make them - sans prestige and time ride - tend to become the greatest ever.
This whole UBI hate and rabid S&B treatment has no cred whatsoever. If you read up what had happened at UBI, with all the quick and big restructuring changes, post finding out the same sexism/crunch/whatever shit that Blizzard and a bunch of studios were equally as guilty (if Bobby Koticks death threat hasn't found home yet....) then UBI has done far more concrete improvements than Activision, Blizzard, Rockstar, Bungie or any of them.
ESPECIALLY the 180 when it comes to direct player request and feedback for upcoming titles.
Then if you look at the whole "it's been 10 years omg". Yeah, it has and it has openly proven to be on its way and ever improving.
No false advertising or fake trailers to hype and increase sales. No criminal puposeful deception like CD Projekt Red did. They knowingly hyped Cyberpunk 2077 for 9 years. Showed progress clips from PS4 (which was from PC) and basically did ALL the shady bad things, became Europe's fastest growing company with stocks soaring at +28000%, then sold 13 million pre-orders.
Had this vitriol that exist around UBI/S&B been for CDPR/CB2077 it would be PERFECTLY understandable.
Alas, we find ourselves in a universe where people that want to desperately belong to something, following senpai fanboy's example and just put the analytical part of their brains on neutral and whatever bystanders that get caught in the cross-fire; be damned.
I try to read and reply to everyone but it's xmas, Im not reading all that. You seem to be protecting these companies. Theres no course correction to be made in 2 months mate. I played the game and gave my honest opinion on how it felt to me not influenced by anyone or anything else. I make these videos for the consumer, to save people from spending money on things that aren't worth it. Stop defending these big companies. They either make good games and their successful or there not. Especially ubisoft? Is this the hill you want to die on? Happy Holidays. I will not be replying again.

@@user-nm4co8mm3i I did, I was speaking generally, the only criticism I had for this video was the title being negative for no reason when he obviously was having fun and said so. So why even have a negative slanted title, well, that is the "Hate Ubi and their Games No Matter What" culture which is mind boggling. The creator of THIS video had character enough to be honest while more than half of the videos I see will have inane reaps for why it must suck and are clearly not being up front.
I think it would be sad not to let the game release and stand on its own feet before anyone tries to eliminate it. There are no games like it, I look at it like a group vs group pvp game with consequences like dropping loot. The most pirstey game I can think of that let's you specialise in something and become good at that, wherein tactics and teamplay decide the outcome.
Game mechanics reeks cash grab after many many delays. Sadly, this game is just plain mobile mechanics. What a downgrade from BlackFlag.
