considering the step down in overall quality in almost every new title i think when the new consoles launched the price should have dropped by 10 instead of increasing by 10

Exactly an open world game, as a pirate with charm and swagger, crazy violence and explosions. Treasure hunting and a good story and adventure would be truly great.
Skull and Bones is basically Looter shooter game but ship. So many mechanic feel arcadey. Lets compare it to Sid Meier Pirates 2004 games. Skull and Bones only has ship management while Sid Meier Pirates has ship management, crew management, land exploration for treasure, Dueling, Faction Diplomacy, Fame, Romance and Retirement system
I play so many naval games that are like this, it is not THAT big a deal you can't walk around the ship or do boarding, the game can still be fun, which it is.
It's a naval combat simulator. The gameplay didnt really change all that substantially since the 2018 showcases. Yet people keep comparing the game to things like black flag, which the project moved away from ages ago, or want it to be things it (currently) is not. The gameplay is actually very enjoyable imho. The carrot and the stick work well too. My only concern is the amount of content. Like, what do i spend time on after aquiring all the ships (which seems kinda fast'ish), and is that "content" timegated then?
@@Yamyatos with that idk why you’re trying to defend this game man you said it yourself voluntarily that this game, isn’t exactly a renovation towards the pirate genre of games.

Tho i agree that publishers and developers should in general wait to announce games. If they released this game as is, people woulod like it. It’s weird how they also rank ship sizes as ‘small’ and ‘medium’ but there is no ‘big’ ship, which is really the only reason I would buy this game. I want one of those big ass ships with 3-4 decks full of canons like in AC black flag. You were only able to play with one of those ships for like 1-2 missions.

As an enthusiastic player and lover of pirate genres, I was captivated when I discovered Skull and Bones. The game offers stunning graphics that immediately immerse me in the world of pirates. The variety of ships and customization options fascinated me and allowed me to create my own unique pirate. The gameplay mechanics are smooth and intuitive, making it easy to dive into naval battles and engage in epic duels. The strategic decisions, whether to fight, plunder, or team up with friends, keep the game exciting and diverse. What impressed me the most is the variety of game modes and features. Whether I go on a solo plunder, team up with other pirates to raid rival ships, or simply gather resources for new weapons and upgrades, there is always something new to discover and experience. I'm already looking forward to diving back into the world of Skull and Bones and experiencing even more high-seas adventures. This game is a must-play for anyone looking to get lost in a thrilling and action-packed pirate adventure. 🏴☠️
Seriously. The TH-camrs are on the "hate wagon" and the sheep are following. I didn't know anything about this game until I saw it was in open beta. I decided to try it since Diablo 4 season 3 is a boring mess. Absolutely fell in love, and bought the premium edition for early access. I'm now kingpin 3, with a lvl 11 brigantine and working on my Empire until S1 drops.
Its not even close to being as bad as people are saying. It is comments like this that just melt my brain. I'll just wait till xbox has another sale on ubisoft games, they do that often, last time I got ac valhalla with 50% off. Will do the same with this game
I saw a little island and just like Black Flag was curious.. I wanted to dock my ship and explore, but nope. I think its worth 40, maybe 50, but what I will say is the game is fantastic. I really really like it. When you get deeper it reaaaally opens up and it stays fun. Idk, it got waaay to much hate, imo. I picked it up cuz I really like it. I don't think the people who gave it a shot rated it fairly and I think many have been passing judgement without even touching it. It has excellent immersion. Excellent combat. The world is gorgeous. The sailing is interactive. There is a looot to do and its genuinely awesome. Random ships call for aid and theres a few dynamic quests tied to that, escorts, repairs, etc. Theres a manufactory that allows you to make goods and ship them around for profit. You have to gather, then refine, then craft. It has deep ship customization and decent cosmetics for your captain. Map is a good size. The storms are truly epic, I mean really, you are missing out if you like sailing and you don't experience them. The only complaint I have is that it is arcadey, but hey, its still fun and im having a blast. Nothing like working with an islander pirate to help ship her ghanjah and get a fat rogue wave in the middle of someone attacking you that you escape by 5 meters and it crushes your pursuer right behind you. Epic.
All Ubisoft had to do was give us Black Flag + For Honor with amazing character creation/customization and they would've had one of the best Pirate games in gaming history.
For Honor mixed with Black Flag actually sounds horrific. For Honor is such a trash game, I would know I did play it for a good while before there were dedicated servers and after and the connectivity issues, not registering parries, dodges and attacks, to buffing light attacks to the point they were literally impossible to parry for months. Keep these trash ideas to yourself man, jeeeeeez
This game is amazing and fun as shit and just gets better with every friend you have with you. It deserves none of the hate it's getting just because it's not a sequel to black flag. Nearly perfect naval survival game
This reminds me of the Star Wars Battlefront remake. No conquest mode. No boarding and sword fighting the enemy. You gutted the best part. I know it's not a surprise and all.. atleast the true naval sim players will enjoy this, probably. They deserve a win. Maybe one day we'll get a pirate rpg or something of that nature. Maybe this will inspire it. Here's hoping. I'm sure there will be plenty of pirate themed games to come.
Didn’t really know much about this game then saw the open beta was available yesterday. It seemed interesting for the first hour or so. I was waiting to see what the sword combat was gonna be like, then I realised there’s no sword fighting. I immediately closed app and deleted. Why provide half of the pirate experience.

This game is absolute trash right now, I would wait a long time to see if they make improvements in the game. Button mapping is terrible for PS5. You can’t make it 5 seconds before being baffled that you can’t do something that should seem that you should be able to. For example, getting the acacia wood, half of the places with wood you can’t get too. I find myself going around the ocean to find a place with wood only to not be able to access it. There’s many other quality of life areas that they absolutely failed. Another thing is a HUGE missed opportunity by NOT adding melee.
So all you can do in this game is ship combat ? They spent 120 million dollars on what was ONLY a feature in AC black flag and they think people want and will buy this with a battle pass and added dlc ? Are they out their ever loving minds at ubisoft ?😂
Play the beta It's free Also I just pay for Ubi+ and Gamepass ultimate. Honestly I save more money that way. But try the beta. Think it is up till the 11th or 12th on everything but switch. Also pretty sure all progress carries over if you get the game. I am playing it and it's actually fun. Very cinematic too in and out of combat. Sailing is great. Customization in ship and for your character is actually really cool. Id say worth a try. Im getting it off Ubi+ for free
Repeat after me, “My opinion is irrelevant.” Good now repeat that 100 times because there are tons of people out there that will play this game and honestly the naval combat is 100x better than black flag
@mar3x268 fair ill give the beta a go before i go on cause id rather try it to be sure as anything else in life but at first glance from what i can understand it just feels likd a pirate game should be more than vehicle combat and casual fightless strolls through islands but i hope im wrong

After playing sea of thief’s fit years this is a big difference and I like what it offers. Only down side right now for me is not able to explore every island.
Don’t forget not being able to walk around your own ship, the lack of hand to hand combat, the lack of pistols/flintlocks, the constant fade to black screens when you want to disembark, boarding being a cutscene etc.
I don't like that you can't walk around but my favorite part of black flag was upgrading my ship and the navel battles. There is always room for improvement but I think the game is off to a very good start
How the f are they gonna do that when black flag remake isn't even fully in the oven. Atleast skull and bones is ready to be shipped out. Why stop for one when we can get two.
Thought I'd give it the benefit of the doubt and played the Beta. Honestly I'll get more out of replaying Black Flag (again) than I will this game. I mean it has a few cool things that I enjoyed about it like the customisation of your ships BUT it's not enough for me to spend £70 on it. Maybe when its cheaper
all im seeing are people dumping on this game, as someone sick of sea of theives being the only damn pirate game this is a hole new breathe of air. sot is alr but after so long its misserable. skull and bones is an incredibly beautiful game with insane gameplay and truely enjoyable game for friends. its incredible. if you dont like it? go back to the recycled rubbish we call sot. I just got off the beta and am quite annoyed at people dumping on the game who bearly played it. with 46 hours i think im safe to say I enjoy the game and was worth buying. if you dont oh well, your missing out. 1) no you cant walk round your ship. but its been said that your going to get a cabin and intern possibly your own wandering on your ship. 2) more customizability and play styles via fire and flooding or healing. 3) easier to run!!! 4) smaller game! 5) cross.play. 6) a constanly changing, evolving game with new ships guns quests and more.
I was hoping for a game that would be the next Open-World Priate game like Sea Dogs or the Pirates of The Caribbean game from 2003, But they didnt even manage to make anything close to it even though its 21 years ago it was released...
Why would you buy this and wait for more content throughout the years when you could just buy Sea of Thieves for $10 - $20 dollars cheaper which offers even more content and the better experience of being a pirate.
There's no hand to hand combat whatsoever besides cutscenes. There are many outposts scattered around where you can walk on and explore but personally, there's really nothing to explore. Each outposts have a totem of some kind that you light up that you need to look for at any outposts. Which gives your crew more stamina or something. I believe this the devs version of "exploring".
I love pirates and pirate games like Sid Meiers pirates, but this doesn’t excite me for some reason. Im excited for Caribbean Legend coming out February 15th but free sandbox mode on the 13th!
They should have added first person combat. Roping, bridging, jumping, whatever, to another ship and taking em down with your sword. If they had some good in person combat, like black flag, I would be down probably
Wait ! You can't get off your ship and explore ? Maybe chop down trees, build a base, hunt animals. create and build a village to expand ?? Or bury your treasure in the jungle ? There's no sword fighting ? There's no single player mode ? WTF did they do for 10 years ?!
What did they do for 10 years? They completely departed from the original idea of a solid single player game to turn this into a live service mobile game.
played about 20 hours of open beta, it is good. but i see why people cannot justify the price of this game. essentially, this game is a mobile delivery simulator. the end game is identical to what you do in the beginning and during the early stages. hostile takeovers are exactly like the plundering of the outposts. waves of shipes until you sink them all. bounties are the same as end game just more difficult. the entirety of this game is like the GTA5 factories and deliveries. produce goods from either bought or stolen materials, wait till then are done, deliver them while being attacked the whole time. REPEAT. that is THIS game. just at a much slower pace. everything just feels the same from the beginning to the end. there isnt enough variety to enjoy long term, because its ALL THE SAME, sorry to say. NO EXPLORATION OF ISLANDS. NO LAND COMBAT. NO VARIETY IN MISSIONS. NO CHALLENGES. NO IMMERISION. NOT AT ALL REWARDING. this is a very expensive and high-end mobile game.
So they took the ship gameplay from black flag, a 10 year old game, but left 70% of the game out and slapped a $70 price on it lmaooo. Graphics look shitty too, this game has absolutely nothing going for it. I’ve been saying this and i will keep saying it, ubisoft makes mobile games for consoles. They release 20 shitty games a year, all of them different genres and they’re always on sale, some people are bound to buy them. It’s smart but anyone that has good taste and any kind of self respect, should know not to give these scammers any kind of money.
the most disappointing in this game for me is having no sword combat or gun fight(flintlock) on the land, all the fight I could do is by ship, like WTF pirate is not only kill each other on the ship
I have no idea what to even do in the game. When I go to do the thing it gives me a marker for I just get ganged up on and can't do anything without sinking idk if if im collecting what I need or just collecting random crap. Super confused and it's not worth the time anyways
You don't get ganged up on unless you fire first, most AI ships do not shoot until you fire the first shot.....so maybe don't shoot? Just an idea. You can literally check what you need to collect if you track your quest, this isn't rocket science my guy. You say it's not worth the time but you can't even figure out that you won't get sunk if you don't start blasting ships above your own level. It's not worth your time because you are evidently dumb af lmao
Lol, Warframe has a better "Ship battle system" side-mode than the literal game created solely for it... You may not have the exploration aspect, but you can hire different crew members, have a lot of varied missions on and off your "Railjack" or boat, and can play in multiplayer letting other players drive your ship or stay on guns etc. You can upgrade weapons, mod your ship for different powers and passives, and many other things. It's crazy
You can tell there's a review embargo on this game. When "Things you should know" includes things like "It might storm at sea", I doubt anyone is allowed to officially say anything negative until the official release day.
People should form their own opinions on a game that i respect but jeez to continually disrespect, seriously nothing better to do than complain is a problem. Voice your opinion and leave it at that. I feel as if they made a AC Black Flag style of online you guys would still crap on it. Like yo leave the hate back when you guys first tried it. Play sea of thieves if you didnt like this.
Well-rounded fair video, nice job. Good to see you mention that you cannot do proper boarding yet. Hopefully, that gets added at a later date because it's not a proper pirate game without it and without fighting on land. ATM is just basically a ship battle simulator, not a real pirate game sadly so I'll be waiting, watching the development not buying immediately.
This should have been a $29.99 game at MOST. They should’ve lowered the price of it like they did with Assassins Creed Mirage. This is nowhere near a $70 game. The fact you can’t even walk around your ship in fire your cannons on your own , there’s no quarters you can check out, you can’t even talk to your crew on your ship.. the only time you can walk on when you are at the hub island (where the stores and warehouse are) when you gather items and equipment, you don’t get off your ship. You get up close to the island and press a button to gather materials.. There’s no treasure chests there’s no sword or firearm fights… even when you board an enemy ship you get up close to it press the button and a little cut scene plays of your crew plundering the ship. You don’t get to do it yourself.. if you are into straight up naval battles and all you wanna do is sink ships, this game MIGHT be for you but if you want to do anything else like walk around explore islands, getting fights off the water… not gonna happen. In my, opinion go play Assassin‘s Creed Black Flag, Sea of Thieves even AC Rouge.. I am so disappointed that this game is what it is. I was so hyped when this got announced. This is the game I was waiting for they had old games. They had a few pirate games but nothing open world and in depth and I guess we still haven’t gotten that. Now it’s just a filler game for Ubisoft+
Do people not understand they can’t have a big map AND have island roaming? This games gonna get updated from the looks of it every 2 months, they’ll add stuff that will appeal everyone. (Launches February and the 3rd season is Halloween themed, so it’s roughly 2 1/2 months per season
For everyone saying it will lose support in months, take a look at for honor. A small, core player base and still constant updates 7 years later. And it was kind of shit on release too. Got better each patch (up to a point)
February 16 for $70 or wait till March 16 for $30.
wait till march this game not worth 70 bucks
considering the step down in overall quality in almost every new title i think when the new consoles launched the price should have dropped by 10 instead of increasing by 10

They could’ve added the ability to at least walk around the damn ship like it feels like you’re only a ship

Swashbuckling could be patched in; in the future. They know to do it. I'd agree though, Deadfire had great pirate action.

Because that's the genre. The game is in a genre that has been sorely lacking in games and based of Sid Meirs pirates. It's supposed to be only a ship

Yeah.. you would have expected a major upgrade 10+ years later but it feels like a downgrade on all levels. How could they mess this one up when they have such a solid foundation?
How about you stop comparing it something you want the game to be then, which is clearly is not. I dont get why people act so surprised either, when the core gameplay mechanics didnt change all that drastically since 2018 or so.

Its not even close to being as bad as people are saying. It is comments like this that just melt my brain. Some of you have just been sipping way too much hater sweat in your high chairs.@@Aceuchiha. If someone doesn't like the game, so be it, but to claim it is dogshit is extreme. You can just say it isn't for you. You know there are artists who painstakingly designed the ships and towns and worked on the ocean and weather. There are people designing whole supply and demand systems for the game and all of that culminating in someone "dogshit" comment really is too much when clearly some of us are enjoying it and it is at least good enough to be viewed as a serviceable game, and to some of us, an absolute blast.
I'll just wait till xbox has another sale on ubisoft games, they do that often, last time I got ac valhalla with 50% off. Will do the same with this game

Yes. All ships that you get built you keep. Some are better at different roles too, like some are better for DPS, others are tank based and such but I don't know how much that matters.
@@BeardifulBill different ships have different skills and such, plus some of the larger ships cannot reach certain areas cos they cannot go down some of the rivers
Epic.
But its not what people wanted, we wanted a pirate game not a ship game
All Ubisoft had to do was give us Black Flag + For Honor with amazing character creation/customization and they would've had one of the best Pirate games in gaming history.
For Honor mixed with Black Flag actually sounds horrific.
For Honor is such a trash game, I would know I did play it for a good while before there were dedicated servers and after and the connectivity issues, not registering parries, dodges and attacks, to buffing light attacks to the point they were literally impossible to parry for months.

This reminds me of the Star Wars Battlefront remake. No conquest mode. No boarding and sword fighting the enemy. You gutted the best part.

Pirates of the Caribbean online was legendary. All they had to do was copy that 😂
I haven't enjoyed any ubisoft game in years. I stopped buying their games years ago.
Why would you buy this and wait for more content throughout the years when you could just buy Sea of Thieves for $10 - $20 dollars cheaper which offers even more content and the better experience of being a pirate.
They fail to mention on ps and Xbox you have to have a subscription to play or it’s a no go, haven’t seen or heard of you have to do the same for Pc

Is there no on foot fighting and exploring?
There's no hand to hand combat whatsoever besides cutscenes. There are many outposts scattered around where you can walk on and explore but personally, there's really nothing to explore. Each outposts have a totem of some kind that you light up that you need to look for at any outposts. Which gives your crew more stamina or something. I believe this the devs version of "exploring".
Looks a bit silly, when the cannons shoot, they don't match on where they are shooting. My day is ruined.
Scared this ends up like that other shitty pirate game from a few years back

They should have added first person combat. Roping, bridging, jumping, whatever, to another ship and taking em down with your sword. If they had some good in person combat, like black flag, I would be down probably
15+1 things.
The +1: Ubisoft said this is a AAAA game. (If you want source: VGC wrote an article about it.)
It’s smart but anyone that has good taste and any kind of self respect, should know not to give these scammers any kind of money.
the most disappointing in this game for me is having no sword combat or gun fight(flintlock) on the land, all the fight I could do is by ship, like WTF pirate is not only kill each other on the ship
the moment there was a long cutscene to operate a cannon and go through a door I closed it and deleted the game
I have no idea what to even do in the game. When I go to do the thing it gives me a marker for I just get ganged up on and can't do anything without sinking idk if if im collecting what I need or just collecting random crap. Super confused and it's not worth the time anyways

How after Black Flag do they come up with such a lackluster pirate experience.
People should form their own opinions on a game that i respect but jeez to continually disrespect, seriously nothing better to do than complain is a problem. Voice your opinion and leave it at that.
Ubisoft thinking they did something worth $70+ is peak dissociation. Skip.
Anyone slapping down 70 for this after the open beta needs their head checking 😂
For everyone saying it will lose support in months, take a look at for honor. A small, core player base and still constant updates 7 years later.
And it was kind of shit on release too. Got better each patch (up to a point)
When I realised in a "Pirate" game no sword, melee, gun combat... I just don't wanted to believe it... I taught it is a joke... but not.
