S1000 is both more comfortable , and does better track times , panigale is only looks , sound and top speed. If you want better performing bike get a BMW or a japanese bike.

I4 always has two cylinders moving at the same time which creates imbalance while V4 usually has 90° angle and a shorter crank which produces less vibration, contrary to inline conf they are also offset which helps them balance by itself while most inline engines have to have balance shafts.
@halo-7797 the inline engine would also be firing strain up, not off set, meaning you don't have the left to right vibrations, instead it is all focused towards the center of gravity (middle of the bike). It would essentially be the same thinking of rotating mass vs stationary (why carbon fiber rims are an option on cars, the weight savings is neglible, but the rotational mass matters). Mass or initia from the center line is exponentional compared to that same weight at the center.
not necessarily wrong, v4 creates more predictable acceleration and tire grip which leads to more precise cornering and throttle control. v4 is like this bc of the uneven firing pattern and less secondary balance issues

Beautiful bikes! That's why I love my 2019 Yamaha r1. It's the best of both but more reliable. I loved the Aprilia rsv4 I had but it required a little more attention regularly.
A V4 may have more secondary balance, but PRIMARY BALANCE (the part that causes most of the NVH while riding/driving) is better in inline 4 engines unless it’s a cross plane. Inline 4’s and inline 6’s are the most balanced engine types, V4’s and most other V engines require balancing shafts or weights on the crank to offset how poor the primary balance is.

V4 is for hardcore riders and the s1000rr is more for casual. Most will enjoy the s1000rr because it’s way more comfortable and easy to ride. Ducati may be the better performing bike but it’s too expensive and rough for the casual person.
I would like to see something other than reading power numbers and how fast it accelerates on the highway, maybe more towards the point of a sports/super bike
As a mechanical engineering student the v4 motors will always provide more torque and mid range than online v4 setup, only R1's crossplane crank throttle can respond to that of modern day v4 setup of ducati and Aprilia

i had a panigale V4 and now a s1000rr and i am waiting for a street fighter V4…i make a video of this two bike. are different bike and both have good features that the other don’t have…but for sure on the road i chose the s1krr for the handling and is more easier and the engine is very good power and smooth
It’s nothing to do with balance of the engine. It’s to do with the length of the crankshaft. V4s have a shorter crankshaft so can spin faster as the longer crankshaft wobbles and flexes more putting strain on bearings.
