4K A66 HAPPY RETIREMENT & GOODBYE to V/Line Rostered Passenger Services at Southern Cross

- English - The V/Line Passenger A Class Locomotive says goodbye to Rostered Passenger Services for the third time.
Streamliner / Bulldog Diesel Locomotive A66 is seen at Southern Cross Station Melbourne after completing it regular but final rostered service from Bacchus Marsh. From today 24th August 2018 this service is replaced by a N class locomotive and A66 is retired and stored.
The A class locomotive has been officially retired three times now so it will be interesting to see if A66 the remaining locomotive in the V/line Passenger A Class Diesel Locomotive Fleet returns in 2019.

They will give one to steamrail and one to the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre and perhaps other places. I think there’s 4 A’s belonging to VLINE still
Adelaide Trains and Trams the four v/line a class are in storage near dynon road even like the pacnat a class that i don't have any idea what going to happen to them along with A78 that's In storage at bendigo workshops
matthew dempsey all of PNs A class except 78 have been scrapped. Why hasn’t 66 gone to heritage groups it’s fuckin stupid

I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't come back. Everyone expects it to come back so it probably won't.
@@Schony747 The problem is that because it has come back so many times, we don't really know. The introduction of V/Locity trains to Bairnsdale frees up some N classes, which is something to consider. If it is the last time, it will be a shame but at least you filmed it.
A66 Goes into retirement! Will this be 3rd time lucky? Or will the old girl be hauled out of mothballs for another stint on the Melbourne rails? Be sure to catch the next exciting episode! Same loco-time, same loco-station!

I've seen that for myself through these videos of Schony's.
It's got one last run this Sunday in push-pull with R707 steam. From Spencer/Flinders Street (still can't call it Southern Cross) to Cranbourne on Skyrail, then back to Flinders Street, then to Stony Point and back. Would have loved to do this, but unfortunately left booking to late and missed out. :-(

Why do a class locomotives have to leave service
Older locos, older technology replaced by something new. It's not always the best byt that's life.

Schony747 I’ve seen a recent photo of her, she’s being looked after. Tarps covering all the vents on the sides and the like.
