Luxury drag races don’t get much better than this!
Mat’s rolled up in a Bentley Continental GT Speed convertible, and he’s set to go head-to-head over the quarter-mile against a Rolls-Royce Dawn!
So let’s see how these luxury convertibles stack up. Starting with the Bentley, it’s powered by a 6-litre twin-turbo W12 that can produce 660hp & 900Nm of torque. It’s equipped with four-wheel drive, weighs in at 2,436kg, and costs an eye-watering £234,000.
Think that’s expensive? Well, it’s still cheaper than the Rolls-Royce, which costs £300,000! However, the Dawn is down on power, with its 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 ‘only’ able to put down 570hp & 830Nm. What’s more, it’s even heavier than the Bentley, tipping the scales at 2,560kg!

Let's be honest here, The Bentley is more of a GT car and you can generally open up the taps and you will still have a massive grin on your face everytime, the Rolls Royce is more of a luxury Limo kind of car, Everytime you want a relaxed, comfortable kind of ride and to be a bit showy, is generally where the Rolls Royce does best,
To me the rolls is incredibly ugly, and the bentley is easily luxurious enough. Plus is gorgeous and gas some performance, specially the speed. I wouldnt even bother with a rolls, but to tell you the truth i d rather buy an aston or a gt3 if i had the money.
The Bentley is better in every regard for everyone except for old dying people with brittle bones.

There is actually a black badge version of the rolls which is like their equivalent to Bentleys speed models and this dawn was not one of them. But either way Bentley have AWD and launch control so they’re always going to win
@@lbnewell23 it wouldn’t have mattered anyway. More than the power and drag, the main reason rolls Royce lost is because they refuse to dump power like that. It’s luxury first, everything else after. I wouldn’t be surprised if the ecu was actually gradually increasing the throttle instead of dumping it as he was demanding it to

@@kealebogapelotshweu5918 all I know for sure is everything on the outside that’s chrome on the normal car is black and it has more power with a “more aggressive” tune in terms of responsiveness to the drivers inputs. But it’s still a rolls so they will still be smooth and delayed just not as much

For the RR, yep - stuff like that truly is more important to them than dumb HP or speed. Not for the Bentleys, though: they definitely aim to be performance cars (as well as very luxurious) - they want to deliver it all for that playboy. 😎

to be fair, the Rolls is based on a design from 2010 and is due for an update soon. Same with Bentley a few years ago: Bentley's 2004 platform was used until 2019

For as much I like to see how fast you can go to the next café, 2 days ago in Paris in front of one of the palace hotels on Kleber avenue, a guy was parking his Bentley convertible right in front of the main entrance. Hotels like to do that, it classes them up. Comes another guy with his girlfriend, driving a RR Dawn convertible. The valet, without batting an eye, asked the Bentley's owner to move his car and park it with the black S Mercs and other high end luxury cars on the other side of the street. In my modest opinion, this is how you should compare these two cars.

I love the 6-litre twin-turbo W12 engine of the Bentley! I love sports cars with W engines like this Bentley and the Bugatti Veyron and the Bugatti Chiron with that lovely W16 engine under the bonnet!

That Bentley surely lives up to its name, lol. If they named it, some fancy synonym for acceleration I think would be fitting, too. I mean O-M-G, that launch and the sound, truly a car you can daily, be extremely comfortable in AND have fun with. Also, the "Speed" of deceleration tho, literally spat in the face of the Rolls and if I had one and drive it fast regularly, on the autobahn or in Mexico (ya know), I'd be certainly thinking about changing my brakes.... 😬😬

I would love to buy the powerful Bentley Continental GT Speed convertible for £234,000 rather than buying the Rolls-Royce Dawn for £300,000! I think the Rolls-Royce is good for people who loves luxurious cars and the Bentley is good for people who like luxurious sporty cars like me!

The Race was not fair due to the fact that the Bentley is the “speed” version and the Rolls Royce is the normal version ; the Rolls Royce Black Badge was supposed to raced against the speed
