      Just like with Donald J. Trump, it's a vast conspiracy of the mainstream media and Hilary Clinton. Yep, that's just got to be it...

    Hard to believe Explorer started out as a station wagon body on a Ranger pickup chassis. It's come a long way. Ford doesn't get enough credit for the innovative chassis, engines and packaging in this vehicle. And the updated styling is gorgeous.

      I really loved the 3-row Freestyle. But mommies and daddies actually want an SUV that stands up sizewise to the vans and Escalades in line outside daycare.

      Why thank you Mr.White.
      I suggest going with a 2017 model (which was not available for me to profile). It gets Sync 3 which is much better than this interface.

    Nice video. I bought one of those in September, have now done ~1500 miles and I'm very happy with it. Fuel consumption is in line with what you found if making use of the V6-T power, but if you don't do that what's the point of having it in the first place. :)
    Main gripe for me is the parking assist that sometimes doesn't recognize a parking spot next to the car as suitable, no matter how much I inch forward. Many times I had to just override it and park myself instead of using the system. Otherwise the car has been amazing.
    Did a trip to Vermont recently with 4 adults and 2 children + luggage and can report that all travelled happily in comfort.

    The police department here in Austin are slowly replacing all their Crown Victorias with Explorers.

    • @1guyin10
      @1guyin10 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The city here runs mostly Chargers. The Sherrif's department is all Ford Police Interceptor Utilities (Explorers) with a few Tahoes. Ford says the Utility outsells the sedan by a very wide margin. One of the local townships has a couple of VW Passats, which seem to have more interior room than the Taurus.

    • @1guyin10
      @1guyin10 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** It's a city cruiser. They used to run Malibus. I'm in TN and since VW builds the Passat here they made a special offer to police departments and government agencies. The police chief claims they haven't had any trouble out of them.

    • @alexs1429

      Here in Chicago, they run explorers or tahoes. Only under covers run crown Vic's and even those are starting to be replaced by Explorers.

    I am trying to figure out why he is comparing a truck vs. a minivan. The type of buyer is very different between the two. An Explorer will tow 5000 pounds vs. 3500 for a minivan and a truck will have 4 wheel drive vs. front wheel drive.

    "2017 models will come with Ford's improved user interface called Sync 3" - in fact, 2017 models come with Sync 3 2.0, while 2016 models are equipped with Sync 3 1.0. Although maybe the 2016 Explorer came with Sync 2? Ford uses different head units for different models.
    Sync 3 2.0 is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while Sync 3 1.0 is not. A year ago Ford promised that 2016 models will be upgraded for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but now it removed this info from its website, and no word about upgrade.

  • @Tully3674
    @Tully3674 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Don't understand the continuous comparisons to a mini-van. When reviewing a mini-van, do you compare it to an SUV? This _top of the line_ SUV competes directly with the GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave & Caddy XT5.

    • @ThorMaxx
      @ThorMaxx 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tully3674 he basically is saying if you are buying a vehicle with the most practicality and cargo capacity, a mini van is a more practical choice.

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Basically, SUVs and crossovers began replacing vans as family haulers around 20 years ago, mostly because SUVs have more of a rugged image. Ask anyone who has experience with both and they will tell you vans are more practical for families. Just a little nudge on my part. Ironically, SUVs could be viewed somewhat as tall station wagons, which buyers left to go to minivans 3 decades ago. It's kind of cycled around again.

    • @TinLeadHammer
      @TinLeadHammer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because people use these for tasks for which minivans fit better. People just don't want to look like soccer moms or dads so they buy SUVs, but in fact they do like soccer moms or dads because they buy minivan-y SUVs, not Wranglers.
