Kudos to Mazda for having a nice selection of CX-5’s available when we needed a new vehicle. Our 2023 CX-5 is awesome. Toyota is failing to get vehicles to the market in a timely way. I agree with your list. It's just too bad the Explorer is such a bad vehicle. It's really a nice looking SUV and Ford should really do a better job with this one.
Today's American vehicles have a really sharp design but it's really lipstick on a pig. It's a pity because they make some nice looking vehicles that i wouldn't spend the money on.
Sometimes I wonder if the ratings rise and fall, according to the payoffs. Seems to me that the Ford EScape got such low ratings. We are on our second Escape, and for the money spent, we got our money's worth. They are superior to both Toyota and Honda, in both visibility, and ride comfort. The new RAV's have a rough ride and por visibility. From what I have read, Escapes are the best sellers. Another thing is that in some years, some SUV's are the one and same thing as their competitor, and only the decals are different.
Any thoughts about the VW Tiguan? My Tiguan turned 13 yo and a week later the Chain belt started jumping and would cost $5000 to repair. I had just put $3500 in it three weeks ago for a different issue. Guess I will look at Mazda and Honda CRV, but loved how the Tiguan had great visibility and comfortable seats lol...
The Jeep Renegade is actually just a rebadged Fiat 500 AWD. They're the exact same car. Stillantis changed the name because they knew Fiat had such a bad reputation. 😂
Not to mention two rubber belts running in oil, known as a wet belt. Ecosport has a rubber belt running in oil as well. Pray they do not breakup in little pieces and clog up the oil passages in the engine. It will be toast.
Isn’t the Fiat brand closed in Canada as we speak? As far as the Jeep Renegade I don’t see them at Chrysler dealerships that much, just unsold Ram pick up trucks.
FunFact: the RAM 2500 is the MOST plentiful vehicle on the Planet at 480days supply! If stellantas stopped building RAM 2500s today, they would have still have a YEARS' supply of trucks!
Not only is the interior of the Blazer cheap, so is the ride. I had to drive one for a few weeks, so I know. With just 67,000 miles on my '08 LS2 Trailblazer SS, I'll be driving that for some time to come.
Hi Shari, great video 👍 I completely agree with all these vehicles that everyone should avoid buying new. For a reason, I think a pre-owned Jeep Grand Wagoneer going to be sort after when they age. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer tend to have a cult following reputation.
Here in US, a USED RAV4 goes for MORE than a NEW RAV4! Waiting 3mo for a vehicle is NOT FUN! Hey, if you would like a NEW RAM 2500, the dealers have a 480day supply.......NO WAITING!!!
If you bought a Toyota Rav 4 in 2012 you wouldn't want to be getting rid of it and would be worth 3x the money resale now, or more compared to the Equinuts.
Watching from the UK I remember when Jeep produced good looking vehicles, not anymore they are just awful to look at and they have a reputation similar to Land Rover. BTW I have a 2016 discovery 4. ( no comments please LOL )
The only surprise for me on this list was the Chevy Blazer. I thought it was a better vehicle after last updates. What a shame, it is such a beautiful car; let's wait for the eletric version then. In regards to the Wagoneer looks like some people just make way too much money and really don't mind lightning it all on fire like you said, pretty poor way to use your money.
Lookswise the Blazer is like the rough draft for the new Trax. Of course, "just remove size" is a great way to make a design language work - it's why the Pontiac Vibe looked ok while the Aztek was infamously ugly.
"Volkswagens are not exactly known for having stellar long-term reliability" is such a blanket statement that is not really founded, there are so many different models and cars and they change every year. Sorry but unless you've driven all of these cars extensively over a long-term you're just making assumptions.
He’s making false statements for sure. In Europe where I’m from there are tons of VWs / Audis which are pretty old and still on the road. If Taos has the same DSG transmission as Golf, it’s a great unit used in Audis as well. Also, he says VW is expensive to service. My question is: compared to what? Service your VW as recommended and they’re good cars.
I would like to have your advice on what is better to buy between a hybrid or a phev. Same brand, brand new, same price, because of the incentives. Somebody says that the phev is more complicated and more expensive to repair. Talk about Kia sorento.
The second generation of GM 3.8L V6 was an awesome engine. They were very reliable. It seems like GM is trying hard to go out of business. Chrysler sliced its own throat for years and after the government got tired of bailing them out, they sold to Fiat, which is now owned by Stilantiss.

It probably is time to get a new car but I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money and nobody makes standard transmissions anymore. I hate automatics.
Good video! We are considering buying a new CR V likely a 2024. I have a couple of reservations which are the 1.5 litre turbo with the oil dilution complaints and head gasket problems which are new to me. Are these items still an issue to your knowledge? Thank you!
I Would consider the Toyota Rav4 or the Mazda CX-5 or 50, these two have naturally aspirated engine options (instead of turbo) and traditional torque convertor transmission's (instead of CVT) with great consumer ratings!
I traded my 2017 CRV in after one year because the oil dilution was so bad. What made me angry was that Honda wouldn’t admit they had a problem or stand behind their vehicle. In China they were required to buy all their vehicles back from consumers because of the faulty Earthdreams engine.
You can still get the Fiat 500X? We test drove one, along with a Jeep Renegade, about a year after they came out. Our route took us down a side street with a speed bump. The Renegade bounced over it no problem (but it did have something loose behind a panel). When we drove the Fiat, we took the speed bump a lot slower - maybe 20 km/h - and the rear suspension completely bottomed out producing a nasty jar through the cabin. Immediate loss of interest.
Where do get your information from I own VW for year never any problems and they are not expensive to repair dual clutch transmission that the way they shift it's automatic manual

Today's American vehicles have a really sharp design but it's really lipstick on a pig. It's a pity because they make some nice looking vehicles that i wouldn't spend the money on.
@@richardbaumgart2454Same with German cars, just beautiful works of human ingenuity…until you, you know, drive them.
@@gordonschuk9925Escapes are a best seller because they are cheap. I had a 2005, and a 2014 that I passed on to my son.
You did a great job detailing what we need to know about these cars.
Thank you for review! Absolutely agree with you!
great videos man straight to the piont ..thanks man
Any thoughts about the VW Tiguan? My Tiguan turned 13 yo and a week later the Chain belt started jumping and would cost $5000 to repair. I had just put $3500 in it three weeks ago for a different issue. Guess I will look at Mazda and Honda CRV, but loved how the Tiguan had great visibility and comfortable seats lol...
Tiguans are the worst once you go over 100k miles.
jeez who pays 100k for a jeep.

Ford Explorer and Escape had a mentioning, but Edge was spared. Does it mean Edge is fine? I’m seriously considering buying an ST.
I am very happy with my twins of Mazda CX 5 . I have 2 Mine and hers!!
Same for me. Also have 2 CX-5 and very happy with them. A 2016 model and a 2020 model. Both are excellent cars.
@@johndeere464 how much is the yearly service of a Mazda CX -5 ?
Toyota and Honda for me.
What is the good mini or small suv. Thank you
The Jeep Renegade is actually just a rebadged Fiat 500 AWD. They're the exact same car. Stillantis changed the name because they knew Fiat had such a bad reputation. 😂
The ONLY Fiat left in this country is the "500" which is ALWAYS rated at the bottom! lol
What’s your opinion on 2023 or 2024 Nissan Rogue? Thanks!
Average vehicle. Okay, but not the safest choice for long term reliability.
My 2023Jeep Compass is in the shop. It needs a new motor. ugh. I bought it in April 23.
Oh my gosh!
You can add the 2024 Chevy trax too. Window problems, and speakers went out.
Already? Yikes😢
Not to mention two rubber belts running in oil, known as a wet belt. Ecosport has a rubber belt running in oil as well. Pray they do not breakup in little pieces and clog up the oil passages in the engine. It will be toast.
I bought a 2024 Chevy trax lt and it is awesome in body style and interior and digital screens and love it so far
Isn’t the Fiat brand closed in Canada as we speak? As far as the Jeep Renegade I don’t see them at Chrysler dealerships that much, just unsold Ram pick up trucks.
Always remember what FIAT means fix it again Tony
FunFact: the RAM 2500 is the MOST plentiful vehicle on the Planet at 480days supply! If stellantas stopped building RAM 2500s today, they would have still have a YEARS' supply of trucks!
Scotty K the YT mechanic source bashed Fiat often.
@@DavidLLambertmobile Scotty K Toyota man, he’s all misinformed drama.
I had a VW DSG, very smooth and lasted 200,000 plus miles…. So not all dual clutch transmissions are bad.
I have a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek and will definitely buy another in 2 years …I love it and have had no problems, normal maintenance.
Not only is the interior of the Blazer cheap, so is the ride. I had to drive one for a few weeks, so I know. With just 67,000 miles on my '08 LS2 Trailblazer SS, I'll be driving that for some time to come.
What do you think of the newer model mazda put out the mazda cx50?
Hi Shari, great video 👍
I completely agree with all these vehicles that everyone should avoid buying new. For a reason, I think a pre-owned Jeep Grand Wagoneer going to be sort after when they age. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer tend to have a cult following reputation.
My friend ordered they Toyota sienna need wait 3 years in Canada. 60k for xle really fk up
Here in US, a USED RAV4 goes for MORE than a NEW RAV4! Waiting 3mo for a vehicle is NOT FUN! Hey, if you would like a NEW RAM 2500, the dealers have a 480day supply.......NO WAITING!!!
Our 2012 Equinox with the 2.4 was awesome! Never burned or leaked any fluids.I had to replace a $50 part in 2022.113k miles when we traded it.
If you bought a Toyota Rav 4 in 2012 you wouldn't want to be getting rid of it and would be worth 3x the money resale now, or more compared to the Equinuts.
Despite the reliability the Rav 4 is on of the ugliest looking vehicle in my opinion @@richardbaumgart2454
Thats just about broken in for a Toyota.
Not talking about the past here in this video.
Welcome to 2023s version of junk.

Totally agree with your list!
Great video don’t have one showcasing the best suvs you can buy
Watching from the UK I remember when Jeep produced good looking vehicles, not anymore they are just awful to look at and they have a reputation similar to Land Rover. BTW I have a 2016 discovery 4. ( no comments please LOL )
There is only one real Jeep, the Wrangler
The only surprise for me on this list was the Chevy Blazer. I thought it was a better vehicle after last updates. What a shame, it is such a beautiful car; let's wait for the eletric version then.
In regards to the Wagoneer looks like some people just make way too much money and really don't mind lightning it all on fire like you said, pretty poor way to use your money.
Check Consumer Reports about the REAL TRUTH regarding the Blazer. This video is really handing out the BULLS**T!!
The new 2024 re designed Trax SUVs look a lot better. GM is not known for + SUVs 2020s.
Just rented a blazer last week in Florida. It was very meh and just felt cheap. Id never want one after driving it
Don't listen to this click bait mf.
I have one it's been perfect
Lookswise the Blazer is like the rough draft for the new Trax. Of course, "just remove size" is a great way to make a design language work - it's why the Pontiac Vibe looked ok while the Aztek was infamously ugly.
"Volkswagens are not exactly known for having stellar long-term reliability" is such a blanket statement that is not really founded, there are so many different models and cars and they change every year. Sorry but unless you've driven all of these cars extensively over a long-term you're just making assumptions.
The author has HIS head stuck up in his arse!
VW is a committed massive fraud a few years ago at the highest level. Not to be trusted.
LandRover not in top three?
I would like to have your advice on what is better to buy between a hybrid or a phev. Same brand, brand new, same price, because of the incentives. Somebody says that the phev is more complicated and more expensive to repair. Talk about Kia sorento.
Agree totally. There are many more not mentioned I would not buy. But your top 10 list is a start. :)
I LOVE my 2024 Escape ST Elite!
How did the 2020 equinox measure up?
I did not have a bad experience with my 2020 Jeep compass so I guess some people get bad cars. Some people just look up and get a good car.
The second generation of GM 3.8L V6 was an awesome engine. They were very reliable.
It seems like GM is trying hard to go out of business.
Chrysler sliced its own throat for years and after the government got tired of bailing them out, they sold to Fiat, which is now owned by Stilantiss.
Look at whose running GM.
Duh!
Cool list
how is subaru crosstack ?
I just purchased a 2024 jeep grand cherokee summit, and love it
Thank Shari. I getting ready to buy a new automobile next week so I read this just in time. We are elderly and need a vehicle that’s easy to get into. Kinda leaning towards a Toyota. My jeep grand Cherokee is hard to get into
The Toyota is a great vehicle. Excellent choice! 👌
You can add my Honda 2020 HRV to to your list. Two major problems with the AC and it cost me 1300 dollars total. Ill be getting a Mazda next
Any Mazda is an excellent choice for reliable vehicle.
I have a 2016 HRV with no problem
And after Mazda you will realize that you should of listened and bought Toyota 😂.

We’ve had mega problems in the past with Ford so no more! We have a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV and love it , mostly because it’s paid off now too 😂
I work on a lot of police cars specifically a lot ford explorers they take a beating and yes they break but I would consider them more reliable then the average suv however I cannot say anything about the sync 3 and touch screen responses controls ect.

We purchased a 2017 Ford Escape and have had nothing but problems with it, I wouldn’t recommend it either. It had two recalls and now it’s completely not running because of an issue with the engine all while we’re still making payments on it.
Let’s do a topgun test:
RAV4 hybrid Vs 350h Vs CRV hybrid and RDX ICE 😊
The 1.5 liter engine in the Escape & Bronco Sport is a 3 cylinder engine.
Everyone gets this wrong. Did you do any research? Do your opinions come from other vidoes.
The Equinox & Terrain haven't used the 2.0 turbo 4 for a while now. The 3.6L V6 in the Blazer is a different engine than the one in the Equinox from before 2018.
My last car was a brand new jeep compass. I liked it for 6 months until the center screen would randomly stop working. Also the car “jumped” randomly while driving. I’ve never experienced anything like that before with any of my previous cars. I traded the compass in for a Mazda cx-90 recently and I’m never looking back.
The 1.5 newer Escapes are good, it’s a total different than the1.5 ecoboom from the older generation.
It's worth noting most new cars, are designed to burn oil something to do with emissions laws. This info came from a head mechanic at Toyota. Doesn't make any sense burning oil lowers emissions?
This is great information. Thank you
As someone who got tricked into buying a Jeep Renegade, I can confirm that it’s trash. Thankfully I got rid of it at the right time and recovered some of my money. Thank you vehicle shortage and caravana!!
Jeep doesn’t even consider the renegade as a Jeep!
I’m on my third Renegade lease.I love it.
To be honest, Ford Explorer's inclusion on this list was a big surprise to me...
i dont know if i can trust this google eyed guy trying to tell me that Explorers are bad SUVs. I've had two and they've been exceptionally reliable and just seem to have a lot more personality than a Highlander or Pathfinder. Speaking of Pathfinder, how the H did that not make this list?? talk about a soulless, unreliable SUV

Thanks for another great video, Shari. I suppose the people who buy these lousy cars value advertising more than research.
Without advertising how would you even know that a particular vehicle exists?
Thanks for your insight!
I have my KIA Sorento, I love it, smooth ride, good on gas, I’ve had it for 7 years and no problem. I would replace it with another Sorento when it’s time.
I think the reason being, prices are up. It's a test for consumers on who would & how many will buy at these price range.
I have a 2006 Matrix, manual transmission. Last fall I actually had to put a new clutch in, which I've been putting off for a couple years, well, at least a year. All in all I have spent abiut 15,000 for all repairs and maintenance. I will say I do keep up on everything whether it's tune ups or tires or any noise I hear.
Actually surprised neither Hyundai or KIA on your list, which is good! End of August I brought a 2023 Hyundai Kona for 28000! Don’t need a big SUV since already have a full size pickup! Kona has all wheel drive and a sun roof! No EV, EV’s are lithium junk! Worked the battery industry till I retired last summer!!!!

I just cannot look at the new Blazer and take it seriously. To me a Blazer were the big trucks I new in the early 80's.

Unfortunately the dealer service departments seem to be a huge part of the reliability problem. The expert service they proclaim is non existent at the dealership where I bought my SUV. every time my oil is changed the oil life fails to be reset and on one service visit one of my lock lugs was removed and not reinstalled but they offered to sell me another set. Also the tire that it was missing from developed a sidewall bubble and had to be replaced.
