I’m thinking about retiring my XJ and using the parts for my MJ. Upgrading to the 98’ model interior and front clip as well as electrical and drivetrain. I really need a pick up more than an suv and being as I have 4 grand Cherokee’s I figure it would be ok to delete the XJ. 1- 98’ 5.9 limited 1- 98’ 5.2 Laredo SE 1- 97’ 4.0 Laredo SE 1- 99’ 4.7 Limited 1- 98’ 4.0 Sport (XJ) 1- 87-89 Comanche 4cyl short bed 2x4.
You should make more videos with the rem and how to use it to find problems or what an abnormal reading might look like. its very helpful. i have some issues and don't know who else to ask.(1) 2.5l goes into open loop at 50% throttle, drop to 49% and closed again. nothing i can find is throwing it out. no codes appear nothing stars out, (2) also coasting downhill in 4th or 5th it will go rich loop fault and hard open loop till the o2 reads again. normal? (3) wonder if you know too if the idle control motor is supposed to bottom out so much that its unable to read the closed signal. like it reads closed most of the time but parts after a bit, then on throttle drop it moves up reads closed and repeats. thanks man.
So, for the open loop at 50%, that could be normal. I know on the 4.0L it goes open loop at around 70% with the idea being that it will make more power in open when your foot is mashed to the floor. Rich loop fault in light decel could just be that it isn't able to pull enough fuel in the case to keep the o2 happy. Now this ISM is an interesting one, is it possible the idle RPM is too high and it backs it's self down so far that it can't even control idle anymore?
Just wondering if you have the information from the OEM fuel tables and target AFRs for the Renix 2.5. I recently swapped my 86 Cherokee 2.5 to a Holley Sniper 2300 with an HEI distributor and am starting to hand tune the fuel table. Would be interested to see what this engine was seeing when stock.
I haven't gotten quite as deep with the 2.5L yet. I got as far as dumping the raw tables from the 4.0L but I don't know what any of the numbers properly mean yet. That's on my business Facebook page somewhere through the last year
Hello señor amigo friend I’ve just got an 89 Comanche and none of my dash gauges are working. Do you have any idea of where I should be looking to fix it? I’ve changed all the fuses and still no luck.
Hmmm... Sounds way healthier than in the last MJ videos... It had a bad knocking noise before, did it went away by itself? Also, I strongly suggest you do a headlight harness upgrade with relays, as the stock setup sends the full power through the switch... And lastly, it's a shame you live so far from me; my favorite junkyard had a black MJ come in last fall with a MINT red cloth interior, zero rips whatsoever, but they already got rid of it! :(
It would be awesome to see a series of you restoring it
Finally....Some love for the MJ.....😁😁
Always love the MJs! there is a Comanche club forum and facebook page that are immensely helpful in finding parts, repairs and mod info
For anyone interested: comancheclub.com/
and facebook page is : facebook.com/Comancheclub

Oh the knock still there haha, just gets louder when you're on the skinny pedal
Sounds like a hell of a lifter tick goin on.
I wish it was just a lifter tick. Sounds more like a knock sadly.
Where did you get the monitor reader big dog!
I build them! Look up the Renix Engine Monitor (REM) for more info
Will now work with the 86 2.8l v6 renix?
The 2.8L v6 is a carb, there is no engine computer to really talk to
@@NickInTimeFilms the 86 2.8 comanche has a renix diagnostic port on driver side engine bay and the computer under the driver side dash.
👍👍🇺🇸
