    This is by far the best, simplest video description. Wish I woulda found it first!

    I had to order the ac core 3 times until i finally got one that matched the factory exactly. The one I finally got also had the copper tubes. My current issue is the attachment point on the hvac for the cable that comes from the dash control box has broken off. Also the air only comes out of the defrost vents.

    Great video! I’m planning on tackling this soon. What the best way to disconnect the AC lines without taking all the coolant in the face? And could you have charged the AC back up with the cans off the shelf? Thanks for the help!

      It's best to have a shop remove the ac freon, because it's bad for the environment. However, it will not hurt you to slowly loosen an ac line. Wear safety glasses for safety. It is sort of like slowly opening a bottle of coke. The pressure subsides shortly. The cans from the shelf can be used, but someone mentioned to me the importance of vacuuming out any moisture from inside of the system prior to charging. Also, I was told the guages on those cans are not very accurate. This can result in overfilling the ac system and causing damage.

    WOW! You didn't have to drop the steering column!
    Did you find it necessary to remove the center console, or just nice to do?

    • @noberet
      @noberet ปีที่แล้ว

      Really? Edit: I think you mean console there. th-cam.com/video/zyPzWv_BGuU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5FnvVJQX5DMw8EEV&t=1645@@DakotaTPatterson

      Steering column only needs to be lowered. Console must be removed.

    Did you change out the ac hoses and connectors? Mine are all rusted but they are pricey. If you did where did you order from

  • @overlandingjohn1277
    @overlandingjohn1277 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think cutting out the hvac plastic is a bad idea as it needs to be enclosed to keep air flow! else all the air escapes through the hole you made. It looks like it from the video

    Why did your mechanic condemn the evaporator? I have been doing A/C work since the early 1970s and have rarely found the evaporator at fault when the A/C didn't work.

    • @DakotaTPatterson
      @DakotaTPatterson  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perhaps process of elimination? I don't know, but he wanted +$1,000 to change it. Funny enough, afterwards it still wasn't blowing cold. I paid him to change the condensor and that got it blowing cold.

      Liked your video BTW. Just an FYI, even though you were using HCFC (R134a) it is still a violation of Federal law to release refrigerant into the atmosphere. I see you didn't do that but others have asked.

    • @jimmyraythomason1
      @jimmyraythomason1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DakotaTPatterson Which is why I asked. I doubted that the evaporator was the problem. Unless a drier desiccant bag came apart (your Jeep doesn't have one) and plugged it or it had a hole in it. It won't fail. You do have to keep the external clean and the cabin air filter serviced. Great video!

      @@jimmyraythomason1 Thanks and yes, the system was totally empty prior to any dissasembly. The mechanic made sure.

    good content and great speaking skills. This is something I might be doing in the future for my 92 Jeep Limited XJ... one comment... I realize everyone is from different parts of the world and the US, I'm no prude or anything like that, but, it is so annoying that the middle finger is CONSTANTLY used to point. I get it a couple of times, but, nearly every time.. LOL.. its like you're flipping off the viewer every time.

    your glove box lock has 2 tabs on the sides,, are those are springy tabs or fixed tabs,, i having problems with my glovebox lock,,are those tabs suppost to be pushed to open the glove box?

    • @DakotaTPatterson
      @DakotaTPatterson  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's like a plastic string. Each end snaps on easily. Opening the glove box requires pinching the handle on the door. A little black square. You pinch each side together and pull it open.
