Clicked on this video & thought it was from a significantly bigger channel bc of the editing. Love the editing style and the tech :D

I love Octavia, and you can really get away with some jank if you need to go ultra low budget. One of my favorite cards in my brew is Hard Evidence. One mana, get a clue and a 0/3 crab. One card to the yard and a token to buff... and I've never played it and not gotten a laugh.
Great insight in the things to avoid especially, but Quiet Speculation absolutely SLAPS! Fantastic include I missed.

      Has the deck gotten old?

@My_Grandma It actually did. It's kind of a one trick pony. It's a fun trick, but I find myself reaching for so many other options on commander night.

@@Spayol Aside: Hard Evidence Rules and I find any excuse to run it anyways.

A sliver deck tech would be cool, feel like there is a lot of traps with the colours access

Picklock Prankster mills cards, can get you a useful spell, and creates an evasive body. Seems good in here

Funnily it was super clear to me that opt and brainstorm didn't belong but ive got ponder in mine and have been lucking for cards to cut. 😅 i completely missed the inkmoths and filtering with capenna lands is a great idea. I just gave this deck a tuneup but i have more work to do it looks like

Overall I like how you think with your Octavia deck. The biggest thing I disagree with is cards like leap and shadow rift. Not only are they instant speed and replace themselves but they also 1. make it a lot easier to kill with commander damage but also 2. you can use them on opponent's creatures. I've made so many deals making opponent's creatures unblockable 8/8's.

Half the gameplan and fun I have with my Octavia deck is making deals with the opponent's (and sometimes you don't even have to offer it just happens naturally) and using THEIR creatures as unblockable 8/8's.

IMO it's most important to have as many instants as possible, this serves as a political combat trick.
To play counterspells effectively, it is better to keep the mana open for instants rather than sorceries.
Since early game is spent filling the graveyard, cantrips & big late game card draw is a necessity.

Im starting to think Octavia is just a bad commander. I love jank decks. But I'm more than likely to hard cast Octavia rather than benefit from her ability. And if I am able to use her cost reduction, the 2 black players on the field will always bojuka bog me. I run a ton of can trips and control spells. Just trying to dump draw spells and counters to reach the end game. Lots of X spells to so I have powerful spells late game. for me, Octavia sucks early, mid, and late game. It's only when I get to late late game that she shines. But usually at that point somebody will board wipe and I'm screwed. She's such a cool commander, I wish she had a few more words on her card to make it a bit more feasible to play. Is it better to go for a mill strategy rather than cantrips? Love the commander but 9 times out of 10 I do nothing all game. When she does work, it's disgusting and I kill everybody easily

This feels like it can be summed up with "don't play that creature someone will just kill it," which is a take I'm not a fan of.
