What my Aragorn decklist was missing was a a concrete game plan.
Before the video it was just: Play Aragorn, play multi-colored creature. Now I reworked my deck according to timetable you set out. Requiring more ramp and more protection.
Unfortunately a lot of great multicolor spells needed to be cut. I'll try it out this way.
That the way to go were big green spells i haved had already figured out myself. :)
A thing that might not be on your radar:
Pippin, guard of the citadel and mother of runes a really good, as they give both evasion AND protection. I even run Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer to tutor her out.

Just as I'm polishing off my own Aragorn build. This should be interesting!
This is soooo different to the build I went with, but I do love the token generation strategy! I went with green pump and protect to cheat out big spells like Ghalta, Primal Hunger, Skullspore Nexus, Great Henge and run abusable cards like Selvala and Eligeth, Crossroads Augar. Cloudstone Curio is awesome to keep casting and swapping out mana dorks to keep his power topped up, and I'm running a *lot* of low-cost protection and counterspells.
how do you feel about throwing painter's servant into this deck?
I have found if you put all green spell ramp in the deck you eventually always get together plus 4 plus 4. At that point giving him flying or trample makes this deck a lot faster I disagree with cutting cultivate.
What about Anointed Procession and Parallel Lives? Would you use it in this deck and if yes, what to swap?
Not really. The tokenmaking is best treated as incidental. Both of those enchantments don't make tokens on their own, and we usually only make one at a time.
If you decide to lean harder on the tokens, I have these suggestions:
- Fungal Sprouting
- Queen Alenall of Ruadach
- Scepter of Celebration
How woould this deck be updated with the cards released in new sets? Annie joins up seems really good, the gnome artifact creature token creator from ixalan and maybe even warleaders call all seem like they could have a place :)
AJU is definitely a slam dunk here. I'm a little skeptical of the other two, but the one that makes a gnome every turn is just so good without any context, adding it here is really good even without thinking too hard about its interactions with Aragorn. I don't know off the top of my head what I would cut for either, but AJU definitely has a place here. I'll try to update it later tonight.

his triggers happen before the spell is resolved?
Yep! *Casting* a spell is not the same as the spell *resolving.* Casting just means "you put it onto the stack." Once you cast it, Aragorn's trigger goes ontop of it in the stack and will resolve first, so Overwhelming Stampede will always give *at least* +10/+10, Traverse the Outlands can find *at least* 9 basic lands, Rishkar's Expertise draws *at least* 9 cards, etc.
What are your thoughts on subbing in grand arbiter here?
I'm not really impressed by it. It's really really strong at cEDH tables when you're trying to combo off, but I don't know if that's actually worthwhile here.
@@aegisgamingofficial2178 It would help with casting 35 cards in the deck. Worth considering, I think.
@danielpayne1597 I mean by that logic it's worth considering in every deck, right? If your playgroup is really spot removal and counterspell heavy it makes sense. But otherwise it's not exactly shining here the way something more proactive might.
Who do I build next, Phenax or Risona?

Do you recommend any artifacts equipment for the deck besides the standard swiftfoot boots ?
Not especially. You can check out the decklist in the description for a full list, but equipment tend to be colorless, and that doesn't interact with our commander at all, so any equipment that would be considered would have to be *really* impressive, and I'm not very keen on equipment in the first place.
