Nice, efficient looks at the deck. This is exactly what I was looking for. I do think you're being a little harsh on the 3 and 4 cost cards and possibily not playing enough lower cost spells that give great value when copied, like removal or draw. The way you explain the deck requires too much to come together to barely be strong enough to win imo. It needs more power and resilience, I think. On the flipside, I dont think a card like syphon mind is what you want at the 4 cost spot. You want to start putting pressure down at that point, not building for something more on turn 5 or 6.. Save the card draw for 1 to 3 cmc. Use the good spells. They're good for a reason become even more good because of anhelo.

Idk wilhelt makes an insane combo deck and this is not how i would play it, instead i focus on killing your own creatures for effects, ashnods alter, phyrexian alter, alter of dementia, carrion feeder etc etc, with gravecrawler thats an infinite combo, with rooftop storm you can infinite wilhelt himself (just make sure you end the game then) or with a certain lich you can pay 1 to cast a zombie from your graveyard and infinite off that too so easily, then you pack your deck full of on death effects like meathook massacre, mirkwood bats, diregraf colossus etc etc

It's not that we "don't know how to build a Z&D deck", it's that we don't know how to build the Z&D deck *you* want to build, which happens to be very different from what most people want out of this commander. Most of the cards you cut work exceptionally well if you're building a landfall deck, an aristocrats deck or any other deck that relies on the commander to provide the value needed to win instead of using it as just another ramp spell

I find it absolutely hilarious that you title your videos "you don't know how to build..." and then people show up in the comments proving that they did not, in fact, know how to build that deck. Haakon is a great cut, I can't believe it's that popular among Sidar decks. Its actually negative synergy! Some of the staple cards in your decks are mine as well, because they have the bonus of interacting with other players. Hostile Negotiations has lead to many a bargain being struck, hands being shaken, and deals made over thin ice. Breach the Multiverse shenanigans get talked about days, even weeks later, and always makes the room erupt with shouts, laughter, or despair. You get commander, and that's truly, truly rare. You can't teach people with a deck tech video how to love the game and its players. My pod now is of people I love being around. Online or at the game store Magic so often feels joyless or that the only fun to be had is taking it from others, instead of shared. Wholeheartedly the game needs more decks like yours.

Slight correction. With this omnath you can play cards as long as they have 3 or more color pips. So it’s 3 pips at minimum. Omnath reads “You may reveal that card if it has three or more colored mana symbols in its mana cost.”

Im confused, at 4:52 its mentioned to turn your other creatures into copies of Wilhelt and swarm the board... I thought the Legend rule applies here. If you create copies of your own legendary creature all others have to go to the graveyard. You can only keep one. Correct?

Nobody knows how to build that cursed commander. XD. It's just painfully clunky to pilot in all forms. It's sad too because it is an interesting idea. I feel this should have been in Naya or Temur instead. And yes, I share some sentiment with the common cards in the builds. I love Grixis a lot, and I want something flavorful aside from the same exact deck but different commander in any other high level list. Can't figure out anything and it frustrates me so darn much. I appreciate this insight. I wonder if I could slip in some Nicol Bolas things in this list.

I can’t bring myself to cut Perpetual Timepiece. The 2nd ability to shuffle cards into library has saved me so many times from a bojuka bog or any other exile effect.

IMO it's most important to have as many instants as possible, this serves as a political combat trick. To play counterspells effectively, it is better to keep the mana open for instants rather than sorceries. Since early game is spent filling the graveyard, cantrips & big late game card draw is a necessity.

You missed some of the best Doctors like Morophon (using Vislor or Clara naming black) and Chamelion Collosus. 4/4 doctor with protection from black with built in pump can steal games Edit: Going black allows cards like Entomb to put the Doctor you want into your grave. What is more fun then playing Fist of Suns and Entomb a Morophon and playing all of your Doctor cards in hand for free after you cast Gallifrey Stands them all to hand
