- Interview with Kenny Wong former member of the Asian/Chinese-American gang - The Ghost Shadows from NYC’S Chinatown. The Ghost Shadows were active all around the country but centered in NY from the 1960s to the 1990s. In this interview Kenny talks about his time in prison, becoming friends with rival Asian gangs while locked up, and the kidnapping of his sister.
This is gold. Super interesting because it sheds light on situations that aren't as familiar as something like the Italian mob

I remembered Sunny from T.O in the early 90's, I was a young kid holding heat for the team and whenever
shit goes down we hand them off and we will get them back afterward and walk away...

Kenny's stories and his honesty is refreshing to listen to. Family and face - two of the most important things to Asians not to mess with.
I'm dying for a good Hollywood adaptation with authentic NYC actors, that would be badass.
there arent enough quality Chinese American actors in nyc to pull it off. they might need to find actual Chinese actors, but they don't speak English
Closest Hollywood movies you can get to the scenario you've envisioned would be Chow Yun Fat movies like, "The Replacement Killers", "The Corruptor", and "Hard Boiled". Could be Broiled but can't think clearly at the moment. But there are others. Just pretty much listed my favorite ones.

I was incarcerated in Gowanda medium in 2004 and 2005 upstate N.Y. There was this older Chinese man that stayed to himself spoke no English . But was respected and ignored. Left alone. From what other inmates that came up with him upstate. He and his son were getting mugged in the city by a group of kids and they fought back .breaking arms breaking bones and beating the shitt out these kids. When ever some Chinese movie came on and they were fighting we would look at him and mess around with him.

Good stuff Mike, I've been trying to get some Chinatown guys to go on camera and tell me stories, but most of them decline or freeze up once the camera starts rolling. Kudos to you for a job well done.

@@Phonoodles408 Already seen pretty much every interview/video Chinamac has put out. Curious to get some other opinions tho. In particular there has been a story going around for years in NY prison system about a pair of brothers who were part of the Flying Dragons who beat up a whole gang of riot squad Corrections officers (ninja turtles). They were notorious on Rikers Island in the 80s and were eventually killed when they were transferred upstate. Would love to know if any of these former Chinatown gangsters know who they were.
