  • If you’ve ever been confused by the amount of nutrition information (and misinformation) online, you’re not alone.
Dr. William Li, the New York Times bestselling author of Eat To Beat Disease and Eat To Beat Your Diet, returns to Live Well Be Well to discuss how we can truly use food as medicine.
With science-backed data about what foods we should be consuming - and importantly, why - Dr. Li shares the key insights and learnings from his career as a Physician and Scientist.
From why you need to know what angiogenesis is and why we should be consuming natural sugars, to the fact that ‘antinutrients’ do not exist (despite what social media may say), this episode will have you saying no to supposed quick-fix solutions and saying yes to the power of food.

Dr Li we're fortunate to have your dialog on all subjects matter. I've watched most of your utube podcast. I wonder what happened to our Educational system that young people can't get the true meaning of the subject at hand. Does anyone use a dictionary anymore instead of making up words n meanings.
Youre the best listener.and can sift what even your host want to say n know. Explaining the meanings. Thanks for your patience and setting the record straight. Thanks again!

Thanks for genius lecture on cancer-preventing plant-based foods:
    1) tomato, containing licopene. Cook them with olive oil increase licopene 3x
    2) green tea
    3) soy with its derivatives (tofu, tempe, natto)
    4) blueberry
    5) apples etc.
Sugar in frout is healthy if you take it as whole foods...

Sorry but this is cancer promoting, absolutely no nutritional facts or science here whatsoever, proteins shut down cancer cells FACT, carbohydrate and oxalate makes the cancer thrive FACT, actual observations by actual scientists, this video is nothing but opinion and says I think before every answer, the carnivore community and scientists are the only group who talk about facts and actual science and actual nutrition, if you want health benefits stay away from people who say I think and knows nothing about physiology of the human body and how nutrtion affects that, the ONLY group of people reversing chronic disease metabolic disease and all kinds of health conditions are carnivores, period.

I'd avoid this list like the plague, your glucose level is at about 5g at any time, eating an apple spikes that by 10g creating isulluin resistance instantly, tea blocks the absorption of nutrients, replacing animal fats with vegetable fats is one of the worst things we did as a species, happened in the 60s and heart disease has gone up 10 fold, and fruit is just sugar which IS the cause of atherosclerosis, wdym as whole foods? Sugar is bad full stop wether it comes from an apple or a bottle of coca cola, not one of these foods is proven with studies anywhere in the literature to prevent cancer, not one, cancer needs glucose to survive, so don't eat sugar, including fruit.

(I did have to listen with earphones rather than watch as I find the words moving across the screen to be extremely irritating and distracting.) I love Dr Li and have bought his books for myself and as gifts. I pretty much watch everything with him. This interview was special because you asked different questions and I heard things I had not in other interviews. Really appreciate that. I also liked Dr Li's origin stories. The one thing I would add is that the credit should go to the Creator of all these amazing foods, let’s not mention the human body! It’s like crediting an author for his painting of a sunset, but how about the Creator of the sunset, shouldn’t the Creator who created the sunset truly gets the credit?

I have a friend who was prescribed Mounjaro because of obesity & diabetes ( which has helped her stop insulin) & there is a shortage .But she said the sad thing is the insulin is cheaper than Mounjaro is . And nausea is a Huge side effect. I think those drugs should never be short for those who truly need it, as opposed to ones who want to use it for vanity because they can afford it.

    - Many artificial sweeteners intended to replace sugar negatively impact the gut microbiome,
    - These sweeteners can cause weight gain instead of weight loss,
    - The damage to the gut microbiome can lead to increased inflammation and fat accumulation.
01:31:44 *🧪 PET Scans and the Myth of Sugar Feeding Cancer*
    - PET scan technology creates a misconception that sugar directly feeds cancer,
    - Radioactive glucose is used in PET scans to visualize cancer metabolism,
    - Real takeaway: eating fruits and vegetables is essential, despite their natural sugars.
01:34:13 *⚖️ The Balance in Diet Choices*
    - The nuances in choosing between sugary and diet drinks reflect no clear-cut answer,
    - Science often suggests moderation and balance rather than absolute avoidance,
    - Recommendations lean towards healthier choices like tea or water over sugary or artificially sweetened drinks.
    01:36:20 *🌱 Concept of Thriving*
    - Thriving encompasses feeling fulfilled, happy, energized, and purposeful,
    - It's a personalized concept that varies from individual to individual,
    - Reflecting on one’s life journey helps in understanding the feeling of thriving.

What about the thousands of people on a keto/ Carnivore way of eating that have healed all kinds of diseases, for lack of a better term, by not eating or limiting plants?

... we weren't kept safe... but since then guess what I stopped eating to improve my well-being... and by the way that is my individualised reviewed study!
Honestly taking a pill to reduce body fat makes no sense to me when the cause is blindingly obvious in relation to what food is eaten. Oh it's not fat. 🙂

I’ve bought Dr.Li’s books and watched many of his guest appearances on podcasts… but Dr. Li, one thing you are getting wrong is that being overweight has physical pain… and our relationship with food is not like your relationship with food… this idea of you want people to enjoy their food, and the company they sit down and eat with or paying for a meal… that sounds lovely, but that’s not going to motivate those with overweight issues… that’s a luxury you get to enjoy.

Dr. Li you mentioned stevia and monk fruit as a artificial sweeteners. They are not. Stevia comes from a plant.

Hmmm…I’m at timestamp 47:14, and I want to be fair, but I’m about to drop this mess. I’ve heard Dr. Li on different occasions, but frankly for him to dismiss “anti-nutrients” like Big Pharma (his origin story) dismisses alternative treatments, makes me not want to lose anymore of my short lifespan on his…opinions. 😒 And Dr. Li, if you honestly don’t know who the heck Dave Asprey is, you’re not qualified to criticize him or his breadth of knowledge! There are plenty of “medical experts” who never venture past the limits of Big Pharma education, to include nutritional knowledge. All they know is how to prescribe drugs! Pffft! Screw your drugs, like Ozempic. I know first hand the negative effects of anti-nutrients, like oxalates. My face was swollen and rashes covered my skin because I ate tons of raw spinach in smoothies, thinking I was eating healthy. Now I know to blanch the spinach and other oxalate-rich foods, then eat them. Your opinions sound like those from a drug company plant/spy who poses as someone who cares.

Really happy to have read your comment. Never trust an MD or researcher financed by Gates & Cie and that refers to the WHO nutritional advice. Longo another exemple.

An anti nutrient are nutrients that don't make it to our small intestine hence can't be proccesed, and also blocks nutrients that may have made it to the smaller intestine because of indigestion, I.e fibre and veg.
