At the 25 minute mark - I don't know if anyone else caught it, but when you clicked off the emergency brake; the driver side parking light came on then went off and then immediately after the passenger head light did the same

The people saying the Cougar is ugly and junk are the people that WANT it but extra cheap. And yes, the Cougar IS a Fox body. As far as the door code, there should be (if it's still there) a sticker on the left side trunk arm with the code.

You are indeed correct that the Cougar is a Foxbody. The 5.0’s in the Cougar & Thunderbirds didn’t put down quite as much power as the Mustangs did. But still an awesome car. I’d sure love to get my hands on her💯

Hi Randy. The first car I bought with my own money was a Mercury Cougar XR-7. A 1975 model. Lime mist metallic. I bought it in 1978 when I was 19 years old and still single. I think it was the nicest car I've ever owned, and I've owned many. My wife and kids always came first after that. Thanks for all the videos. Damn! You get some nice cars. Like that Lincoln, the one you delivered to Texas, and this Cougar.

The T-bar end goes into the throttle (similar to racing bicycle brakes) throttle body end is the other way. If you undo the throttle on the handlebars that's what you're likely going to find.

The code is on the module in the trunk on the driver's side behind the lining. Everything drivetrain wise that fits on a mustang fits on that car. SN95 suspension and brakes fit perfectly (they are the same size, they used the measurements from those cars 87-88) Mark 7 parts also work. They are easier in some cases to modify all around than a fox or SN95 mustang due to the subtle differences. I built a few of them in my early 20's.

I agree with you, that was a fantastic choice of color for the Cougar. I’m sure someone else will pick up on the remaining issues as far as tires, window tint (right now that is a bit like Lawrence Welk night at the seniors center, all bubbles and wrinkles, 😂), etc. and put it on the road again. 👍🏻

the code is written on a tag on the left trunk hinge, but if its gone it's written on the module inside the under the package tray behind the rear seat. If you're handy with a soldering iron, you can move the resisters around inside to change the code as well.

Hey Randy, there's nothing really special about most coilover setups as far as adjustability. You typically need one of about 3 or 4 special wrenches and an Allen key for the set screw in the adjuster nut. I've even done them with channel locks you'll scratch the crap out of the nut though. Find the brand you have and get with Speedway, Jegs, Summit or any other speed shop really. They should be able to hook you up with the wrench.

The cougar looks great! What I would do is get the headlights done and make sure all the lights work all the way around. Get that window tint taken off and the windows cleaned and fixed. just have them do a simple cleaning of the inside put those new tires on get an alignment if it needs it I’m telling you right now you could get $3500 if not more for that car. There are cougar fanatics who would be chomping at the bit to get a hold of that car

This is the 1987-88 Cougar and it is a fox chassis car. All Cougars and Thunderbirds from 1980-88 are fox chassis cars. In 1989, the chassis became an MN-12. 1977-79 Cougars, Thunderbird, and LTD II's use the Torino chassis. I've seen these go for $3000-$4000, so you can make money on it if you price it right, since it is a 5.0

MAACO did a great job on the Cougar!!! Well worth the $600 that you spent on the Resell Red!! The haters are going to try to kick the tires off of it but it’s actually a pretty desirable car. Investing a few more dollars in it and driving it to a few late season early next season local car meet’s your going to make money on your videos plus you’re going to find the right buyer. It’s really hard to find a dependable car that doesn’t cost a considerable amount of money and look classy!!! The Cougar fit’s the description. I know that you don’t want to marry that car but it’s definitely turned out nice.

Randy the throttle cable that you bought looks right to me the big in always goes where the handlebars are at you can always buy another throttle assembly that goes right on to the handlebars that will fit that cable that you just bought the little end should fit right into the carburetor slide. back in the day when I had no money I always repaired my broken throttle cables by soldering new ends on

    • @nastyn8te328
      @nastyn8te328 ปีที่แล้ว

Off of the cable on the little side it should slide off and then run the little side through the inside of the throttle and then the little side will go back into the sheathing down to the carburetor as you pull it down the tea part will end up in the throttle take the throttle apart and run it down through that way

I know you said you might wanna stop. But I'd love to see some more work on the Cougar. You could make that car cherry again. The chipping window trim you could fix with some sandpaper and black automotive spray-paint, I'd still want to put tires on, because new tires attract buyers, and I wonder if there's an aftermarket cover you can get for that cracked dash? Also, since that throttle cable doesn't fit on the bike, ever consider just taking the T-part of it to a grinder and reshaping it to what you need?

2:55 I’ve said this on another one of your videos, but the mileage and date shown on a Walmart oil change sticker is when it is due for its next oil change (the old 3,000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. So according to the information on your sticker, it was changed on April 5th, 2018 at 53,217 miles. (The little number below the date is the bay that the car was assigned to in the shop, which in this case would be Bay 1) and the fact that they got Quaker State conventional oil means that the previous owner got Walmart’s cheapest oil change known as the Pit Crew. (I wouldn’t put Quaker State in a lawnmower, let alone a car!)

It is your car, you do what you want or can afford. Lots of experts on You Tube. Awesome paint job on the Cougar.

You can get spanner wrenches everywhere man. That’s the tool to adjust the coil overs. I have that exact trailer and I love it.

Randy, on my mothers 1988 Lincoln Town Car there was a sticker on the trunk hinge with the code for the door. It was a white sticker.

You got that cougar looking great Randy. Also cougars and t-birds are great cars from the early 80's right through to 1997 when they stopped making them and I've owned many different options of the car from turbo coupe to the 5 liter and never had any big problems with the cars and they were comfortable and good on the road and they all had good power for the size of the cars. I still have a 1994 xr7 4.6L cougar now and I get people asking me all the time do I want to sell it and I just say no. So many people want these cars and it's only going to get wanted by more people as time goes by.

The cougar looks good. I would fix the trim polish the chrome and replace the horn and maybe an aftermarket radio. The Honda is cool. Wish I lived in your area so I could make an offer on it

Dang that Mercury looks so freaking good. Great color choice. You can buy a coilover wrench at most parts stores or Amazon. Keep what you have and raise it up.

Randy I had a 95 Ford Thunderbird. The code for the door is on a sticker on the underside of the trunk lid, if it's still there.

OMG I had a 1985 accord with sunroof and cable clutch 5 spd manual! Lasted 489k miles
Timing belt fell off while driving I thought it was toast! So left it on road
W/title! A year later someone was driving it told me they just put a new belt on and it started right up
