I wish someone would convince Esquif to add a square bow Jon Boat to their lineup, that T-Formex material is exactly what those of us that run Rocky Rivers need in something bigger and more stable than a Canoe.
I plan on getting a used 10 foot Jon boat to be a rower, with lights, mirrors, analog navigation, am/fm/mp3 and vhf matine mobile transceiver. Simply since most people fancy row boats that are extremely expensive, or they dont come with lighting or radio. It just would be nice to have even more affordable boat to do what you want on the river or lake. At least you giving lots of people of ideas.
If you don't want to buy drill stop collars, just get a bag of plastic soda straws and cut one to the length that is 1/8" shorter than your drill bit. Slip it over the drill before you start drilling the holes. Taught to me by and old Indian many moons ago.
Question when he cuts the bow area for the battery box(~9min mark) , he used a nice flat piece of aluminium to mark his line but freehands the cut. Why wouldn't you use that same piece of metal to ensure a nice straight cut by putting the blade against it?
I have been looking at the Sun Dolphin 12 for my next boat. At this time in my life. I cant afford a bigger boat but i love fishing and swimming in the gulf. So, this boat will be a good project for me. Something for me to get out in. You guys did a great job. I love it. I cant wait to order your floor kit. I have one problem. I am a big guy {398 pounds}. I am scared I will fall out the boat and not be able to get back in. I will be out there on my by myself. I am thinking about putting a ladder on the one I buy. Can you put a ladder on that boat? That way I can learn how to put one on. I have looked on TH-cam but cant find an install video for that.
Honest question, if you cut the floor panels a little bigger wouldn’t gravity suffice to keep them down & not shifting from side to side with no rivets needed? Plus easy to remove & clean any mold etc. ?
I'd like to see what you guys would do to a Pelican Rhino, I have some ideas for mine, but not the budget ( hence why I have a discontinued used plastic boat)
Thanks for a nice video. How would you connect sections of the boat, so the water would not accumulate in one of them, but would be pumped out by the bilge pump?
@@TinyBoatNationI am thinking about putting a plastic pipe under a seat, so that 2 sections of the boat would be joined. Question is: how to fasten it (the pipe) to the boat?
Can you make like a cardboard template from the floor for people to buy that dont have almost 400 dollars or maybe dont wanna use sheet metal i would definitely buy id you do
PLEASE HELP!! I have this same boat. Someone used it this summer while I was gone and left the boat full of water(In between the two molded pieces) and was left on the trailer, so it warped the bottom since the trailer was tilted forward. The front third is now warped downward. Is there anything that can be done?
Can anyone tell me why the Camo model of this boat that is prewired for front and rear motor is $50 less than the standard model. Tractor Supply $750 standard and $700 Camo.
Yall should do a simple 1648 skiff style build for us salt water guys lots of use use Jon boats and your right no one wants to actually do your over complicated builds no offense. Us salt water guys want shit simple we don’t use all the gismos and gadgets yall bass guys use. A nice front casting deck and maybe a polling platform? Would be cool to see what y’all could do with a 1648 flats skiff. Love the content keep it comin just maybe a bit simpler for us normal folk😂
Wow! What a great Sun Dolphin transformation. You all are amazing!!!
Good job guys! That looks simple, comfortable, functional, light, and affordable.
The perfect backwater fish stalker... and retired old man boat.
We agree!

That is A LOT of very nice upgrades.
Those kayak rivets are available at Bass Pro/Cabelas, sometimes at Dicks, and sometimes at Dunhams, plus Amazon and Yak Attack always has them online.
Nice I have the American 12 now I’m ready to get the floor kit for it this made it a lot easier
Great vid, thx folks! And yep, I also forget the other 'yuge' advantage of these kinda boats over the inflatables... aka, the 'repairability'!!
Love the floor solution! Those original ribs aren't feet friendly

It didn't need to be very exact, we were just making a reference line
When will the kit be back in stock?

Don’t you think we deserve an update to the nitro build by now? 😂 I’m half joking but honestly I was early exited for that build
I’m waiting on the lids to come my way and then it’s the next one

Could have plastic welded a peace back in flat the spot you took out .

There is no way without drilling the holes into the subfloor like we did

What's up with the name of those lil black screws?🤔
before i buy hydro turf what size roll did you use for the flooring kit

What gauge of aluminum is used on the floors and trays
I believe it’s 3/16
.090
I'm just a couple minutes in and i can't watch anymore. " What not to do to any boat ever"
I'm the same way about cutting into new boats and all but the finished product was really good.
How much would you charge to modify mine like that?
Do you have a link for seat mounts and seats please
i want to build a deck extension for my 23 bass tracker but i’m not sure how to go about it nor do i have the tools
Need to redo a the pond prowler 10 more simple like this
Was double hull. Lots of holes and rivets. Half assed.
I dont see this kit in the tiny boat nation web site can you help me out
by installing the chair you didn't properly insulate the foam that you broke into, making the boat less sinking-proof.
How can I reach you I won some merch on your last live
Can anyone tell me why the Camo model of this boat that is prewired for front and rear motor is $50 less than the standard model. Tractor Supply $750 standard and $700 Camo.
Spot lock Trolling motor is way too expensive for a plastic boat
How much weight does this add to the boat? My wife wont let me buy a trailer so i have to lift my sundolphin into my pickup.
Not much. 20 pounds or so. The plates aren’t very big.
Bring one home. It’s easier to ask forgiveness than ask permission.
Be awsome to do one for the pelican intruder 12
Isn’t it the same boat?
@@TinyBoatNation I think the floor is shaped different not 100% sure though
they were only 3/16" holes
It’s amazing what you can make out of an old Spa bath nowadays!😂
Need rod mounts
would this boat work for me and 2 small kids?
Yes, all day
What about two small kids and my wife? We are looking at one of these or a larger canoe for lakes and small rivers in central florida
I enjoyed the video, but I would never buy a plastic boat …that’s just me. I would pay whatever extra I had to and get an aluminum one.
how much to do this to mine? Im a disabled vet. i couldnt do these mods if i tried by myself
We have kits online for it. They’re not that bad.
you would be surprised how bad my body sucks lol
I triple dog dare you to take a VEER and make it better. :)
The thing is that $13,000 rig.
@@TinyBoatNation on your opinion, is $13k too steep for what it is?
