Games like that really excell at highlighting the wow factor of the hobby. Must have been an absolute joy to play on that table. Looks like it was a good game.
An excellent effort well done chaps...we are still in Somaliland lol with the British surrounded and it’s getting a tad hairy. This looks a great detailed wargame well done and this really shows the power of the set and creating immersion. Well done to James and all his work organising and umpiring it and Dave’s impressive preparations too. One day we will hopefully get there but so much more to do in the early phases of the war. Best wishes to you all and my kindest regards.
Bloody brilliant looking game! Loved the bit where the supporting infantry hit the beach - absolutely epic visuals. You did well capturing it as coherently as you did with all that chaos going on. Subbed. Ps, I put a few clips up on my channel of a couple of tables i recently did for battalion scale amphibious battles (Japanese landings during WW2 East Indies campaign) if you're curious. This one is a tour of the first table set-up mid-battle (no narration): th-cam.com/video/MqLAZHcgB5A/w-d-xo.html
Hi, they are called LCV's (Landing Craft Vehicle). i think James ( Scottish guy in the video) got them off Pendraken, and scratch built at least one of them. He has a great blog where he has documented all his work on his WW2 projects. well worth having a nosey on there - themadtinhatter.blogspot.com/search/label/Flames%20of%20War
The LCA's are Battlefront models, the tall LCT is scratch built while the lower one is an MDF kit from Pendraken that is not on general release yet, as is the LCI(S).
The beach mat is from Deepcut studios. I had a bespoke design done with a darker grey sea colour , a deeper beach area for low tide , then the inland green done to match my other Deepcut grass plain mat so they join up . It’s 8x4 in size
We use a heavily modified version of Flames of war 4th edition for these big games. Its umpired with the german forces controlled by the umpires, with hidden deployment, random events etc. It works very well.

It was great, it doesnt translate well into a video, with all the background noise etc, but we had great fun.
Nice table, nothing better than a good scenic table to play on

Wow that is a big game. Where do you get the landing ships that hold all the tanks(forget the proper name)?

And what is the beach mat?
