When you're waiting for a Round 6 recap but are blessed with a 3 hour arena instead.
I think this was pre-recorded to use as filler if the need arose, and the need arose.
I'm still waiting for the final recap from the Dubai rapid tournament
true blessing right there

Eric should pin this comment
2:29:50 No, Eric, this video did not make it to TH-cam.
F for Respect for this guy☝️
For anyone else wondering about Eric's tournament performance, it's 2866 with a 75% win rate over 32 games against opponents with an average rating of 2585.
Thank you! I was about to look in Lichess... Eric should give the time to present the final statistics
That's incredible. In FIDE most GMs are 2500+. Of course LiChess uses provisional Glicko ratings, so it isn't directly comparable, but 2866 is extremely good in any case! Some people who have looked at the data have approximated that LiChess ratings are about 125 points higher than the equivalent FIDE rating, so it looks like Eric Rosen could certainly be a Grandmaster. I wonder if he'll do the norms sometime? I bet he's probably answered this already and I'm just not involved enough in his community to know.
@@ReasonMakes The answer is that he just doesn’t really care as much as he used to about getting to his absolute peak rating and becoming a GM. He’d rather focus on other things like photography, content creation, exploring the world, etc. I personally believe (and so do many others including Hikaru), that Eric if he put his full effort into it, could be a GM. Maybe someday he will be but it isn’t a focus of his rn
Wooooow, what a safe with a beautiful rosen stalemate at 14:00!!
I know I've been absolutely spoiled by Eric when I think "WTF, he didn't timestamp a brief description of every game every 5 minutes in a 3 hour video?!"

Eric in a nutshell: Being raided by the greatest chess player of all time, "shout out to Garry"

@@boxnow8774 By far. Any version of post '10 Magnus beats prime Kasparov
@@boxnow8774 It was just a way of speech, chill. And Garry -Chess- Kasparov's name is probably the most famous in regards to great chess players.
It’s not Kasparov who streams on the channel, though, it sounded like Eric knew that.

33:10 Eric missed Nxg4. I saw it immediately. I think I'm getting superpowers 😂
yep, that would have done it.
33:10 You had Nxg4 then comes the fork, you win the bishop and the game
Incredibly interesting how this was your best arena ever and it was also probably your tamest. Almost no gambits, no crazy play, just positional, cool, chess.
I enjoy your long videos in both forms.
Hey there. I want to say thank you. I’ve been watching your content for about a year and a half now. I went from losing so many games in 1 minute bullet that my rating got down to 150. After watching you I’m back up to like 600, I know that’s not impressive but when you only win 6 points a game that’s a lot of wins :) and in 10 min chess I was rated 400 or so and today I hit 1200. Thank you for the videos. I watch your stuff every chance I get and have learned so much. I’m not trying to get to your level but playing chess as a hobby and actually being able to make plans is amazing. You’ve taught me so much here on YT
400 to 1200 is an amazing improvement
@@heeroyuy298 thank you! I’m trying my best
You inspired me to learn chess, thank you. Huge fan 😀
Super cool! Hope you're loving it!
14:05 I never get tired of watching Eric catch people with this stalemate trick!
The hilarious thing about it is that Black had plenty of time on the clock and didn't have to pre-move. All his hard work down the drain because he was too cocky and impatient.
Did not watch yet but wanted to have a better chance for you to read this: the U in German "Luft" is just pronounced as in rook. Love from Germany!
Tsoogtswang
He's not saying the german word, he's saying the english loanword that happens to come from german. There are countless loanwords from countless languages, and there's no reason for him to force himself to use native german pronunciation. That's just silly.
@@Tulanir1 Agreed. This is Merica
14:05
you got me good there
i did not expect it beforehand :)
i have never scene such a hilarious and great tactic that only eric would find. 2:35:29 He wins a rook by pinning a rook to a rook with a rook. rofl so genius.
Eric, I have been a long time follower of yours, I still remember your first stream there was only one person watching and I was thinking:" this guy is good, why no ones watching ?". Now you have over half a million subs. Keep up the good work.
That one person was himself, hey has a funny video about it sonewehere
Yeah I watched his old streams, and he said "There's nobody watching" and it kinda broke my heart lol. Glad he found himself in a better position now.
Super instructive video Eric. It's so cool how you're able to explain your ideas even in relatively tight time constraints like these 3 minute games. Usually I just watch an hour or so of these longer videos but I watched this one the whole way through.
I can't stop laughing at "Accidentally rhyming is the first step to accidentally rapping" - 1:26:12

I always thought it was called TILTED arena, then I realized it was only for those with a FIDE title.
I only watched your intro, but I'm happy for your performance. Congratz! Always love to see the longer videos with full tournaments.
This comment is kinda stupid if u like the longer vids you would watch em not just the intro but good try
commenting here since this was the most recent video, keep your head high 👑 you played amazing this whole tournament despite what happened in games 8 and 9 and you are a great player. good luck for your game against Irene eric, bring home another win
2:35:00 Re3!! was an insane tactic. Love it!
Definitely the best moment in this video imo, crazy ending
You know you watch a lot of Eric when you reach "if you've made it this far on youtube let me know" on every video. Love you Eric
Wow, Eric, just wow. I was on the edge of my seat in the last game, sad you lost... But overall, it is the best tournament I've ever seen from you! I learn a lot from your videos and I enjoy them a lot, specially these long tournament videos.
It's always and will be always a pleasure to see videos that length in hours, thank you !
Oh man just when I was looking for what to watch tonight, what a treat! Thanks for sharing!
2:29:55 Yep, glad this made its way to TH-cam!
God damn, congrats Eric.. love seeing quality content WHERE U just own 'em.. nice work
great job on both the chess and the sponsor!! we love you!
Excellent. I'm 53 so there's no hope for me getting much better than I am right now, rating maybe 1500 if I take my time. BUT---I still always learn something new watching your vids.
Never too late!
Eric please, i need more blitz/rapid content. Thank you very much! Youre an awesome person.
YES a 3 hour upload on a Sunday night, ty Eric :)
More of these pls? :)
2:39 “it’s allowing takes” lmaooo i’ve never heard that one i like it
the way eric smacks his lips around 14:20 at the end of the game before the stalemate is so funny its like he can taste it coming
Good performance! You're the man Eric!
The game around 2:36:00 with the back rank mate with bishop and pawns controlling the black kind was really nice. I did not.understakd why you moved Kg2 instead of Bg2 in the position leading to that, he could have given the rook for the bishop and save the knight via d2-e4. Maybe he thought he'd be more active and with some extra pawns for the piece this way, but didn't spot the back rank weakness, which is very unusual! Good games!
The knight move at 44:27 must complete one of the best attacking setups I've ever seen
3 pins, rook on the b-file staring down the queen, bishop-queen battery, knight delivering a triple fork. Just stunning.
Seeing eric with good lighting is really unsettling
it's always a great day when eric posts a full stream
I also like Flow! Great litterature that applies to a lot creative work as well.
Just got Flow on audible. Can’t wait to listen to it. Thanks
its always a good day when eric uploads multiple hours of instructive goodness
Eric you've done so much preparation on the Stafford you know sidelines of the Petrov and the four knights really intimately. If you wrote some theory on the Stafford I would absolutely read it
So great. Thanks again for all the great content. :)
Where is Eric Rosen? I mean, 7days since last YT vid and 11 days on Twitch? Anyone knows?
14:00 that stale to save everything nice work.
39:09 Eric says a bad word! 😱😱😱
I feel proud of you. Very well done Eric !
That moment when playing E4 is "mixing it up"... pogchamp
I hate Eric’s videos. It’s not fair that he makes such good content, is such a nice guy, and makes 3 hour videos. Every time I watch his long videos thinking that I’ll get bored/tired and fall asleep while watching but no. His quality is so good and entertaining that I’m here at 2:30 with school the next day watching this man play chess
Excited for this video.
It’s been 9 days, and I need more Rosen :(
14:03 eric you dirty man that was brutal
Great content, Thanks Eric.
Eric, at 235:47 Re3 has gotta be the most aesthetic move you've ever made including the aesthetic position, that is some alpha zero square control. And all starting with Kh1!!!
Good job!
That was fun to watch.
"Ok moving up in the world" 😂 -Eric Rosen
I needed this.
The recap video we wanted?
Eric: The long Sunday video you needed.
It did make it to youtube! Well played eric! Learning chess because of you.
Hi Eric! This video made it's way to TH-cam. (: Thanks for sharing all the games!
1:03:37 I think the sneaker try is Bxf7+. If Kg7 then Bxg6+ with ideas of perpetual with the rook if Kxg6, and otherwise Bxh5 clears g4 for the king.
If Kf8 then Rd8+. Kxf7 is met with Rd2. Ke7 with Re8+ still hoping black takes the bishop.
whenever you hear eric say “oh this is a funny line” u know it’s about to get real juicy
Loved watching you in the tournament, hope you're enjoying yourself in whatever your doing since the gibalter tourney. Because I'm going through Rosen withdrawals

Since ever the chess boom happened. Your content really levitate my interest in chess
very nice how you forced the stalemate, your a genius!
Your premove skills are out of this world
14:11 you gotta be kidding me..
Stalemate should've been named after Eric
I think your return to classical chess has increased your rating. GM Rosen is coming! Now you just need the right coach to get there
Also...
"It's not delivery its Djano" 8:18
This video is older I think. So it was before hw returned to otb chess
rosen is so good i didnt even skip the audible ad
Thanks for making going to sleep a bit easier!💙 Tinnitus is a horrible enemy to sleep but you make it easier. Thanks again.
Eric you played phenomenal! I noticed you played more moves that slowly improved your position more than I've seen you do before. Think playing classical again has helped?
This video came when i finished all your videos, exactly in time
Such chess. Much proud. Wow.
33:09 Eric missed nxg4 followed by kxg4 nf6 forking king and bishop and transposing into an endgame a pawn up
checked the comments to see if anyone mentioned this.
2:29:15 "it feels i am playing against my self, this opponant does not want to resign !"
2:29:50 some made it to this point ;-)
14:57 can someone explain the idea of a6 to me? I don’t know queen’s gambit theory and I don’t know why it would be played over c6 to go into a semislav, as both defend nb5 and c6 just seems more principled, developing the center and reinforcing the d pawn.
That ranindu_chess guy was awesome ngl. Gangster tactics all the way through
Video production lookin crispy sir!
"Accidentally rhyming is the first step to accidentally rapping" incredible wisdom
"accidentally rhyming is the first step to accidentally rapping" lol true
That first stalemate was DIRTY!!
Eric, Please put this tournament on youtube!
From the great play in Gibraltar and great play here so early in the year, I hope this is a sign to come of a great year of chess for you!
The tactics at 2:35:09 are awesome! Eric has a great eye for tactics.
Thanks Eric

Bro that new camera got you looking like a movie star good stuff
8:17 - Eric vs FM djano hilarious ending lol :)
Hope this is leading you closer to the road to GM. Im rooting for you to get that title
There is a lot of work required to become a GM. And I doubt he'll put it in. In the end, it's just a title. Prestige...
However. If he tries to he totally deserves. Would be awesome.

Dude Eric, you seem like a really awesome dude and I’d love to play some non-chess games with you at some point bc you seem really awesome to be around
