Glad you were able to git er dun! Usually, something else breaks in the process.
We used to use white lithium grease in there. Now I think surface shield or any of the lanolin coatings would help in the tailgate or anywhere else. It really does stop and prevent rust. $9 a can at home depot. Like Tony Chacheri's, I put that sshsstuff on everything! 🤪

Nice job! I’ve got a 2015 Silverado that has the same tailgate. Haven’t had that problem yet, but I’m prepared now! Thanks for sharing your experience.

It's great to be able to do most of your diy yourself. You save tons of $$$ doing what you can yourself. I just had a kitchen plumbing repair; the drain was lifting out of the sink, the drain hose for the dishwasher was leaking, it was too long and it was looped up behind the sink. and I wanted my new pull down fawcet installed while he was at it. $450. Did I get ripped? Hmmm. Anyway, I watched what he did and I thought that I need to learn me a little plumbing. In hindsight I could have done it, but I was thinking that the dishwasher would have to be pulled out, and that would be a bit heavy.😬 anyway Happy New Year! 🙂👍👍🇨🇦🥂

You're getting to be able to fix anything, Rich. Maybe check under the vehicle to see what's rotting away from the salt. I heard that you can get the undercoat (oil) over in VT, but in NY.

    I love your channel!
Can you do a video on how much it costs you to live off grid monthly?

I love you guys, but I can't watch Chevy repairs, even for tailgate repairs. Hope you are onto more housework soon.😂
