Give the vid a like, it helps me out! And subscribe, cause it's free, duh!
want to clarify that when I mention the age of this film, I’m not bashing it for that, I mention it to say that it’s interesting watching older horror films as they all are a little funny looking back on because of limitations.
My favorite slasher/horror franchise is nightmare on elm street and those are a bit old! The first one also is a bit slower paced and I understand it’s done to build suspense - it can just be overdone sometimes. Anyways wont say anything else just wanted to clarify.
Thanks for watching! 💚
EDIT: also heard your cries for making the movie bigger/more visible! I will do that going forward I was just shook by getting a previous video taken down and I started moving scared haha. Thanks for helping me out - I’m new to this!
When you really look at it this movie is a masterpiece It was made in the '70s And there was no CGI back then everything was practical effects and this movie was made for just $11 million dollars something unheard of today. $11 million dollars back then would be about $50 million today.
I hope nobody's been giving you grief about mentioning the age of the movie, since you were clearly born after 1979- The whole appeal of these reaction videos is the feelgood Gen-Xers and Boomers get from seeing young people enjoying the same stuff we grew up on. Just wait until you watch Casablanca. (Don't think you're getting out of here without watching the greatest chick flick ever made...)
Also here's the explanation for Ripley's nosebleed: th-cam.com/video/UF6An_fs8eA/w-d-xo.html The scene was cut after they'd already filmed the one where Ash attacks her.
Since you're learning it will be forgiven, this time
Idk… your look is giving fair-skinned SZA… and I like it… a little vocal fry ain’t bad either… keep it up.
3:37 Back then smoking was generally accepted everywhere, including on planes. I'm guessing they just added it to 'humanize' the movie. The spaceship would have air filtration systems that scrub the co2, and most likely all the cigarette smoke too.
@@Ayytheist ooooo I see I see
They don't really address it in the version of the script that ended up being shot, but they were only supposed to have enough air and food for a few days at a time out of the sleep pods. Then, while they were asleep on their way to the next destination, the air would be purified and their (ahem) waste reprocessed into more food. Kane and Parker laughing about what the food's made of is the only reference to it that's in the film.
Even in the late 1950s/early 1960s, when basically everyone smoked to the point that smoking while pregnant wasn't abnormal and doctors were being paid to recommend certain brands of cigarettes, NASA told Apollo astronauts to stop smoking.
Even with imagined futuristic air filtration and scrubbers it would wear out those systems faster, and they can never be 100% efficient so the particulate matter in the smoke would collect on and damage other vital machinery too over time.
There is just no realistic chance that the owners of a spacecraft would allow smoking on board! They might not give a crap about the health of crew and passengers, but they would care that it makes them have to more frequent maintenence and replacement of systems that were being damaged by the smoke, thus costing them money!
It was a dumb decision by the filmmakers to show that even considering the time-period.
classic. i'll never get over the production value on this film.
It’s one of my favorites of all time. I can watch it everyday
It’s crazy that in this fictional universe, people are capable of cryo sleep, interstellar space travel is normal, aliens exist, but younger reactors can’t wrap their heads around lighting up a cigarette on a spaceship. But you’re right, it was all Ash’s fault, and he literally got “fired”.
… you ever heard of a joke before. lol omg
As a huge Aliens fan, thank you so much for another wonderful reacts video! Your reactions, predictions and thoughts post movie were perfect. You're really good at this.
Lmaoo even the no intro intros are dope! Also i think its great that you upload your reactions 'good' or 'bad', i think thats a balanced way for a viewer to get your genuine opinion by seeing how you react to and analyze films, great video!
Just a thought: as you watch more and more older films, particularly from the 60s and 70s you might gain an appreciate for similarly paced films as you will notice that this was very common and deliberate directorial decision, allowing for scenes to breath.
The first living creatures in space were the dogs Belka (eng. Squirrel) and Strelka (eng. Arrow). This happened in 1960, when the Soviet Union sent the Sputnik-5 (eng. Satellite-5) spacecraft into Earth orbit.
Going through your modest catalog Nova, and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this 15:28 section of your reaction! Cheers!
I can understand all your problems but by watching Romulus first you've basically ruined every one of the films for yourself (especially this one your aware of all the twists going in - how the Alien works, what happened to the Nostromo, the companies real intentions, Ash being a droid) with Romulus being (albeit well made and tense at times - with Andy being one of my favourite characters of the series) a very derivative 'best of' montage of the series. It's going to taint your viewing of all the films - not your fault, it's just a shame.
You’re right I will give you that - I thought about that afterwards. Totally fair!
@@bossvnova It can't be helped with films sometimes (especially older films that inspire a lot coming after it), I didn't want to come across all gate keepy and say you're watching it all wrong. Romulus is a straight sequel to Alien, going into this one knowing all you did I would of probably had the same thoughts as you. I do think you'll enjoy the pace of the next two better but there will be a few moments you'll definitely recognise or see coming. Keep up the good work people always disagree about films, part of the fun
@@Nah_Mate_Aint_Nowt no you make sense. It’s like listening to old groundbreaking music - so much music afterwards takes inspiration from it and so if you listen to the newer music first, it’s hard to be impressed with the OG. Very very fair. Thank you for watching (:
@@bossvnova Why my mate loves Kraftwerk and I find them boring. Think the marketing dropped the ball with Romulus, a lot of people assumed it was a reboot or so far disconnected from the others that it was a good place to start. They should of stated in the trailers that it was more or less a continuation of the first film.
@@Nah_Mate_Aint_Nowt I full on knew it wasn’t a reboot and still went to watch it anyway cause I didn’t see myself watching the original haha
another fun reaction :) a constructive discussion about the flaws ( which almost every movie has) and reasons why you liked or disliked it, can often generate good conversations, and is much more intersting to watch then someone who pretends to like every single film.... and we didn't dissect frogs, we had to cut a pigs heart in highschool 🤢, we use pig organs because that's what the butchers throw away anyway so no additional animals have to be killed... also congrats on getting the channel monetized in a record time!! great video, i can't wait for the next one :)
Im glad they didn’t have to kill any other animals, good use of the hearts. Still gross though ugh. Thanks for watching (:
14:20 "Why does nobody listen to her?"
Because being a ship crewmember is not a democracy.
Dallas is the captain. Everybody listens to him because they have to.
Kane is the XO (second in command). Everybody listens to him when Dallas is not around.
Ripley is the junior warrant officer. Barely even an officer, but yeah, 3rd in command when Dallas and Kane are not around.
Ash is the science officer and regarding science (including this alien), he outranks even Dallas because their employer says so.
But Ripley is also the youngest and most inexperienced crew member. Everybody else has about a decade, some of them 2 decades, in space travel.
Ripley has just a couple years and this is her first voyage after taking 8 years off to raise her daughter.
So even the crew members who MIGHT have to listen when Dallas and Kane aren't around are still annoyed that a young inexperienced warrant officer is telling them how to do their jobs when they are way more experienced and know their own jobs way better than she does.
That makes this a very good example of excellent writing. The crew of this ship treat Ripley exactly like the crews have treated junior officers of about 100 million ships that have existed on Earth's oceans for about 5,000 years or so.
Wrong ! everyone should be listened to , so the one in charge at the time has all the info to make the right decision.
@@alexsaunders352 The reactor used "listen to" as if she meant "obey" or "do what she says".
So I did too.
Of course a good officer listens to the other officers and the crew before making a decision.
But that's not what she meant.
@@blakewalker84120 @14:12 > , she says " why does no one listen to her " that's not an order
One of the greatest horror movies, and I think a turning point for both the sci-fi genre, the horror genre, and the alien invader subgenre of movies. It's like a slasher movie in space, but starring one of the most original and inhuman aliens ever created for film. It also creates one of the best horror heroines with Ellen Ripley. There's so much that's great about Alien: the atmosphere, the tension, the effects, the monster, and especially the claustrophobic setting. Great reaction 🙂
I did not know you went into Alien Isolation or watched Alien Romulus without watching the first film. Please jump into the second one, Aliens, I feel you will like that one more...and end it there if possible lol.
There is a law that requires commercial vessels to provide assistance when receiving a distress call. This principle, enshrined in the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, mandates that any ship able to render help without endangering its own crew or passengers must do so. This aligns with maritime law’s core ethos: the duty to preserve life at sea.
Similarly, in this movie, the crew of the Nostromo responds to a distress signal on an uncharted planet. Although their motives are initially based on duty rather than law, their act parallels real-life maritime responsibilities, underscoring the timeless expectation of responding to calls for help, even in unknown and potentially hazardous environments.
Aha, see, you just demonstrated my point When Ash came up, you said that in Romulus he was a robot or a robot was modeled off of him. Knowing that when watching Alien spoils part of the plot and makes the reveal unsurprising. Several other things are spoiled (what the face huggers look like, etc.)
thanks for reaction
You are the first reactor I've seen that got the bit at 15:15. OK, I subscribed lol. Looking forward to watching you and Aliens which is well set up by this one and is more an action movie.
Digging your channel. Loved your Interstellar reaction, this is great too. Keep up the great working, looking forward to more!
YEAAAA FINALLLLLYYYYYY AN UPLOADDDDD
Welcome back I appreciate your no frills introduction
I’ve been watching a few of the Alien movies because of Alien Isolation and Alien Romulus, and I was really impressed by how well this one aged. They knew exactly what they were looking for when it came to showing the terrors of being in space. Great movie!
Ok just finished the video, and I see where you’re coming from. The movie does take its time with a lot of scenes and I could see how that might not work for some people. I found it to really work for me but I understand how people could feel differently.
Great reaction.😊 looking forward to watching more with you . Best wishes on your new endeavor. You’ll do great❤
You definitely have to check out the 1986 sequel, Aliens. It sheds some of the horror for action, but it's one of the best sequels ever. It's so much fun. I'd also recommend checking out the 1958 science fiction horror movie It! The Terror from Beyond Space. It pretty much has the same premise and ideas as Alien, and it's been said that it was an inspiration for Dan O'Bannon's screenplay for Alien.
Omg perfect choice for October. Maybe you've already seen it, but The Thing is by far my favorite horror movie for each October. Also, we cut up baby pigs in bio when I was in hs. wild times.
Thanks for reacting to Alien, a big Alien fan
Aight im not gonna, i didn’t expect this channel to ONLY have 3 videos, but these are simple and good
Also you looking really beautiful in these videos
this film is not only visually stunning but for a film that is allmost HALF A CENTURY old the Effects are amazing especially the practical effect for the alien for me this movie Started a whole new genre of movies the Sci fi/horror movies.
Another great video🔥, really enjoying these can't wait for more :)
"I could have gone without watching it"...ooops. That's awkward. Not a popular opinion...but it's yours so...sure.
Not a popular opinion but it is mine yes (: I feel I shared my opinion in a really respectful way.
@@bossvnova, respect or lack of respect is not the question. It's your opinion and you are entitled to it. But "Alien" is considered one of the top Horror films of all time. It's fans around the world are practically beyond counting. It is considered a masterpiece. What I am saying is...maybe you need to watch it one more time, at some point, and then -- like it or not -- consider yourself enriched for having seen it. It's like eating your vegetables -- like them or not, they are good for you! Haha! Just a suggestion.
@@bossvnova, one more thing: you will definitely like/love the sequel more, called "Aliens". From what you've said, it is probably much more up your alley. But, given that and to my previous point, you will be glad you saw the original film, even if just to set up the better payoff with Aliens. Just, keep going. You'll be glad you did!
I would love to see you watch The Thing. The Thing is something else. It’s one of the scariest films of all time.
The best Truckers in Space film. If you have an eight-foot acid-dripping alien hunting you down, DO NOT go back for the ship's cat.
When watching Aliens, be sure to watch the extended version. It answers questions so you don't have them that you'll have from just the theatrical version
This is something you should do if you're going to do things like Lord of the rings, Terminator, etc. It's worth it to see what was cut out
Old movies are definitely products of their time, and that's okay. I agree with you that the new Alien movie is excellent! It was made with love by people who are fans of this first Alien.
Movies have changed a lot in 45 years.
Back then, we didn't have streaming and we didn't even have movie rentals on video cassette yet, although the first rental outlets started popping up right around the time this movie came out.
To watch a movie, we sat in the theater.
If we didn't like it, we couldn't just change the channel.
We could leave, but hey, already bought the ticket and drove all the way here, might as well stay unless it's awful.
Today, people sit on their couch and start a movie on Netflix and if they get 5 minutes in without their minds being blown, they get bored and change the channel.
So movie makers today make sure to start with instant action, many explosions, lots of excitement, right from the start - all to make sure we don't change the channel.
No developing characters, no background, no slow buildup of tension or anticipation.
All gone.
Instant endorphins.
I feel like we lost a lot of the storytelling art and replaced it with popcorn munching adrenaline.
But since everybody does it, that's all we get today, which means you're right, Alien Romulus was more active and exciting but a very mediocre story about characters we don't really ever get to know.
Back when they allowed smoking on airplanes, they had air exchange systems installed that would replace the air in the cabin. I imagine they would have something similar in the future to clean the air on spaceships. Incidentally, when they stopped smoking on airplanes, they also stopped installing the air exchangers, so now the air is not as clean as when they allowed smoking.
The whole point of a reaction channel isn't to love everything. You'll keep more subscribers by being honest, and you're being honest. I love Alien because I'm of that generation (I'm in my 50's), you didn't love it and that's fine. You explained why and weren't disrespectful in any way towards the movie. It's refreshing to see someone of your generation (god I sound so OLD) actually watching properly, then explaining why it wasn't your cup of tea. I subbed based on this reaction and look forward to many more. Keep 'em coming. Much love from the UK. ❤👍🤙
I worry that people think that I don’t like the movie because it’s old, but I specifically say at the end that is NOT the reason as I love a lot of movies from that time. It was just the pacing for me ):
Thanks for being respectful and kind! See you in the next reaction!! ❤️
If this one wasn't your thing, you may like Aliens better (the 1986 direct sequel to Alien and is typically the most popular movie in the franchise). Great vid, keep em coming!
Thanks for being so nice about it, folks wanna chop off my head for a very polite opinion 😭 I’ll look into it!
@@bossvnova it's amazing how people get all riled up if you think differently then them. lol No worries, glad I found you! Be well.
@@oblivionsmuse I had nothing but amazing things to say about the last movie I reacted to, interstellar, so yeah its just not gonna go well if I’m not a fan. But honesty is important. Glad you found the channel! (:
OG’s opinion… there was only practical effects… so you could only use them for 1 or 2 takes… creature features or sci-fi would have to limit the screen time… that and things are way less scary when you see them in the light of day and things are seldom shown to be as scary as what you can imagine.
@9:30 The most interesting thing about this parasite is that the hosts first reaction to being scared is to open its mouth.
Check out the movies The Thing(1982), Aliens(1986), The Terminator(1984), Predator(1987), and Terminator 2: Judgment Day(1991).
Great reaction you doing amazing job can’t wait for more ❤
You're doing great with the intros. Glad to see you're still on a SciFi tear. Interesting you saw Romulous first. Always discus "the bonus situation"🤣 Gotta get paid when you're in space. And yeah more animals than people have been to space. LOL Don't forget to watch the sequel Aliens. Tron Legacy is another good one to add to your list.
ok....found a new channel i love to watch. :)
Could i go without seeing is frankly a dumb measure for a film (95% of films ANYONE can go without seeing....very few films are that important and that worthy)...rate it on how much you enjoyed the film.
Didn’t really enjoy it, are you happy now?
Now anyone who watches Romulus, before the good ones, are gonna think that you can just pull facehuggers off with your bare hands.
Just remove the tail, right? 😂
Unfortunate.
In the annals of “I don’t know it for a fact; I just know it’s true,” Ash is not his name but what he’s called (as his character in the movie is never shown to have a last name).
It’s actually ASH-an acronym spelling out Autonomous Synthetic Humanoid.
Love the randomness of movie selections
You do fine just fine the more movies you do the better all around you get look forward to seeing your channel grow
Alien is my favorite horror film of all time. And on my top 3 of all time personal favs. I saw you watched Interstellar as well which is my favorite of all time. Keep the content going ❤ also do you take recommendations ?
I do take recommendations into consideration but the next two months are planned already!! Welcome (:
@@bossvnova I would recommend a film called Prisoners directed by Dennis Villeneuve. you'd be the best if you ever watch it ❤
As Ripley's running onto the shuttle, there's a shaky POV shot where the camera passes right over the alien hiding among the pipes- and if you pause it at just the right point, you can totally see it.
Aliens picks up right where Alien left off, and in the opening establishing shot of the shuttle interior, a detail to look for is the harpoon gun still stuck in the hatch.
Watch the sequel Aliens (1986)
The greatest sequel of all time and one hell of a ride
Can’t wait for your reaction to that one !
In the old days, boats (ships) had to keep a cat on board to prevent rodents from getting into the food supply. It's considered bad luck not to have a cat on board. Also, you need to play Alien: Isolation!
This is the scariest sci-fi movie ever made.
Also check out the sequel, Aliens. Also, The Thing. Fire in the Sky (true story). Exorcist (1973), and Exorcist 3 (1990).
I appreciate your nuanced review ti this. I think folks get too caught sometimes and it’s ok to have your own personal views on things
10:38 "Oh my God" - Literally everyone lol perfect
Bossanova, you are a Boss! Your reaction is your reaction and we as viewers have a choice to join in with your reactions or not. Personally, I loved your reaction to Alien even thought it was not your cup of tea. Respect. But your reaction did put a bid smile on my face! =;-D And the character "Parker" {Yaphet Kotto - RIP} was a favorite of mine as well and such a needed character to round-out the dynamics of the personalities of the team. Yaphet was born for this role. Great reaction, Boss! =8-D
Hahaha thank you very much for your comment and thank you for watching!
The scene where Kane's body is jettisoned out into space always confuses people doing these reaction videos (I've seen a few). I think its because they just don't know how space actually works. Space is a vacuum. Without a pressurized environment like we have here on Earth, normal air pressure that we exist in every day explodes just like a pressurized cannister it it loses containment. So when they open the door where Kane's body is, the pressure in that room explodes out into space, and the air ejects the body out into space. Its almost the same way that the explosion behind a bullet thrusts a bullet out of a gun. So this movie is very realistic in the way it shows that scene, but because people don't understand how space works, people are confused by it.
I was moreso just so surprised haha. I found it so funny. Thank you for the explanation!
Unfortunately, some movie franchises are best if watched in a particular order. Like if someone watches Terminator 2, then watches Terminator, they probably won't like Terminator ... the reveals and surprises are no longer reveals and surprises. I think Alien franchise is at least partially like that: it is best to start with Alien.
FIRST TIME CHATTER ON THIS CHANNEL hai nova beaaaan
I'd like to recommend The Mist it's a good watch
I’ve watched it! Loved it
17:00 "How did that thing grow so quickly?"
Good question.
It grew from the size of a hamster to the size of a pony in under a day with no food.
Completely impossible.
It takes a pony 3 years to get that big, eating several pounds of food every day.
Hollywood magic makes movie monsters do impossible things.
You're doing great
It s great that you tell us how you really feel about the movie, honesty is the best policy, there is more suspense in the second film of the series, Aliens, you will probably like it more if you decide to watch it.
@@jonhkennedy874 im so happy you said that! I even said that the fact that the movie is old is NOT a reason for my opinion, as I love a handful of movies from around the 80s, including some horror films. It just wasn’t my cup of tea and I’m not usually into sci fi so it is what it is. Everyone’s saying aliens is where it’s at so I’ll look into it. Thank you! (:
Yay, just found your stuff, subbed and looking forward to your reactions!!! Let's go
EDIT - good stuff so far. I am enjoying your style. Now I only hope... and yes, a small complaint, but nothing bad :)... I only hope you go a little less transparent on the captures. Again, just a minor gripe, nothing bad. Yeah, I think you will go far with this channel!!! Keep up the goodness
People are mean on the internet. And it's somewhere understandable, that if they see a reactor upload a video about a movie, that most of them think "ooh, I love that movie, let's experience it again with her together, i'm sure she will love it too!", and if they start a video with this in mind, they can be disappointed, if you don't like their favourite, so I understand their side too. Besides that, in my opinion, it's good to be true to yourself and don't lie about your feelings towards a movie, it's just not what everybody expects here (I watch a lot of reactors and most of them are totally pumped by all of the movies they watch - which is sometimes a little bit unbeliveable, but I don't want to accuse anybody with anything. And it's not a realistic idea not to upload the video if you didn't like the movie. If you've already invested the time and energy to watch and react to it, i think it's natural that you finish the editing and upload the video.
The point is: create your own content as you are comfortable with it, and if somebody doesn't like it, they won't come back for the next video. Keep it up, it's good to see you here!
Yeah I do not believe that reactors love every single movie they upload lmao it’s just not possible. They likely just amp up the reaction - most people aren’t going to watch an entire movie and put effort into commentary and then just throw it away if they don’t love it.
I want to continue being honest it makes my commentary and reactions all more true! And I don’t think me saying I could have gone without watching something is so bad. I can fully acknowledge how me seeing Romulus may have ruined this movie somewhat but I also believe in what I said at the end. I don’t think not seeing Romulus would have made my experience that much better.
Thanks for your comment (:
Lol this was a fun review. That cat had you more stressed than the alien. And while I do like the franchise, I think I'm more of a fan of the design of the alien rather than the movies as a whole. Hopefully they lean more into the horror aspects in a future movie because the monster at the end of romulus definitely showed they can make some pretty disturbing designs. Loved your review and reactions overall (:
Also, I had to dissect cats in high school :/
Cats?!
What did you use for recording for a long period of time reacting? Good reaction! Alien is a grear franchise.
OBS!
@ what about for the camera on you??
@@JoeyStudios camera is Sony A6400 with a different lens. Forgot which one. 16mm?

This is one of my favorite horror films, but I def understand how having seen alien Romulus first makes this one dated and less scary. Regardless, the reaction and mini review were great, and it seems like you’re getting more comfortable talking about the films at the end, so keep up the good work
13:47 At my school they dissected sharks in biology. Science hallway smelled horrible during shark week. 😂
Ewwww
Make sure you watch the Special Edition if you're going to follow up with the sequel Aliens. It's more an action movie.
Disagree. Special Edition is for the rewatches, as intended. That version gives away too much too soon, and has a continuity error that you can’t unsee. Theatrical Edition has the better pacing.
Special Edition -- Absolutely! It offers more character development, which makes the film more compelling.
Saw at the drive in! Geez time flies, great movie thanks!
Yep. The game takes place between this movie and the sequel.

@@bossvnova Romulus is set about 20 years before Aliens...
@@kylereese4822 ooo I didn’t know that. Thanks for telling me!
Glad you don't give in to the "Don't upload a reaction unless you love the movie."
It’s rough cause people get rowdy in the comments but it’s worth it. It’s natural to not love every movie you watch and that’s ok (:
@@bossvnovathe other note I would have, is that the pace of movies has gotten faster and faster over the years.
You want a REALLY slow movie, watch something from the '40's or '50's. I appreciate slower films, but even I find some of them a little slow. 😝
I think you're allowed to have the screen bigger, my dear. It will make these more watchable! Oh btw, smoking inside wasn't such a big issue "once upon a time" Ms young Reactor! "WTF?" Good reaction! LOL although your response about long suspenseful scenes is typical of a generation raised on overload. Sometimes less is more! This was the first Alien, directed by Ridley Scott and was so groundbreaking at the time that it influenced most every sci-fi horror films afterwards. Alien 2 is probably one of the best sequels ever made by James Cameron (Terminator & Avatar)
I fully understand that! I should have said it in my video, but I was thinking “this was likely groundbreaking for its time”. I mention loving the nightmare on elm street films they are my favorite horror franchise. And they are also older films. They’re dated, sure but they’re creative and genuinely scary. Maybe not as scary now but the concept is refreshing, groundbreaking, and idk I love them. I think I’m just not a sci-fi kind of girl and the pacing in the scenes towards the end were a bit too stretched out.
And I’ll try to make the screen bigger next time! I’m just scared of copyright issues haha. Thanks for your respectful comment, have a lovely day!
Why would you start watching a movie franchise with the latest of a decades-long series of prequels and sequels?
Honestly I had no intention on watching the first one (at the time) and I just wanted to watch as movie with friends. I ended up enjoying it and so I decided to watch the first one.
Hello, if you don’t mind, can you do a movie reaction on a movie called, 1492: Conquest of Paradise.
Adventure/Drama (1992). It stars Gérard Depardieu, Siqourney Weaver, Armand Assante. It portrays a version of the travels to the New World by the Italian explorer Christopher Columbus and the effect this had on indigenous peoples.
Directed by Ridley Scott.
Hope you give the sequel a shot!
Honestly if i cant smoke, i dont wanna go to space.
Surely they can install some charcoal filters in the HVAC system, that'll leech it out the air.
I love your reaction to great classic movie seris 💯❤️❤️🤗😊

I said it being old was no issue as some of my favorite films are from that time. Clearly you didn’t hear that part though lol. It’s a good movie for its time and it wasn’t for me. I wasn’t rude, I was being honest about how I felt about it and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Beautiful movie
I love this and Romulus more than the rest of the franchise, the second one is third on my list but still highly enjoyable and I think you'd like it. Another franchise is The Terminator, starting with the first movie (its not slow paced like this).
I’ve already watched the terminator. Great movie!
You have a great voice. Do you do voice acting?
I do! For fun. I’ve auditioned but nothing yet ): maybe in the future!
@bossvnova keep auditioning. Someone will notice you. It was the first thing I picked up on. Maybe read for business or motivational books. Its strong and authoritive but also sensual. Best of luck.
Hey, love your reactions, Interstellar is my favourite film. May I suggest an absolute gem of a sci-fi film and one that is seriously underrated and often forgotten about. Sunshine by Danny Boyle, it's both beautiful and terrifying. It's my second favourite sci-fi movie.
Watching from Scotland 🏴
You would probably like Aliens the sequel to Alien. It is better than The new one.
The dragged on aspect was building the coldness of space in the first movie.
To put it into perspective Aliens provided Sigourney, the actress who played Ripley, with a Oscar nomination for best actress in a movie.
Most people can't watch older movies. Attention spans are shorter than they used to be. Most people just want the movie to "get to it". Older movies feel more like plays. In any case, this was an interesting take. I don't think I'll be recommending any older films for you to watch.
I like a lot of older movies. I think you didn’t hear what I said at all lol.
@@bossvnova lol I heard what you said. Scenes drag on in slower films. A lot of older movies are slower-paced. You favorite horror franchise (nightmare on elm st) is an exception to that. There's no shade here. I'm just making an observation.
This made me realize I've actually never seen this lol and I agree with you I could've gone without seeing it too, not a bad movie tho. I appreciate your honesty :)
Also, we had to dissect baby piggies in high school yayyyy 🙃
Oh no not little piggies ):
Thanks for your reaction! Even though I LOVE this film, I greatly appreciate reactions from your age group, which often comment about the slow 1970s pacing. Alien, Exorcist, and Poltergeist are a few HEAVILY respected horror flicks, from back in the day, that a lot of millennials do not find impressive at all.
I can for sure appreciate how innovative this was for its time but as someone who already isn’t into sci-fi, it wasn’t a hit for me. I do like movies from that time though! Just not this one haha. Thank you so much for watching (:
2:40 "Not smokin in space? Is that OK?"
Everybody in 2024 asks that.
But this movie was made in 1979.
In 1979, passengers could smoke in airplanes, even with two strangers packed into the seats next to you.
If you went to a restaurant in 1979, half the people in there would be smoking and you got to enjoy second hand smoke with your meal.
n 1990, San Luis Obispo, California became the first city in the world to restrict indoor smoking in bars and restaurants.
The U.S. Department of Transportation also banned smoking on all commercial passenger flights in 1998.
So when this movie was made, smoking indoors or even in tiny little airplanes was normal.
This is a big spaceship.
If you are worried that they will pollute the air and be unable to breathe, yeah, maybe.
But the CO2 they exhale with every breath will kill them way, way faster than cigarette smoke.
They have air filters to keep the air breathable (NASA invented them in the 1960s).
Any filters that can clean CO2 out of the air can easily clean cigarette smoke out of the air.
The cigarettes probably mean they need 16 filters for this voyage instead of 15 - it's really not a big problem.
Why do it at all?
Smoking is tied to feeling relaxed, relieving stress, so I'm sure many companies in the 1970s, including the one that owns the Nostromo, would pay for an extra filter to keep the crew stress-free.
Besides, they probably earn a profit selling them the cigarettes.
I don’t judge people for smoking I just meant about polluting the air in the ship.
@@bossvnova No, I wasn't judging or assuming you were.
Just pointing out that in 1979 smoking indoors everywhere, even on airplanes, was allowed and we were only starting to learn of the dangers of second hand smoke.
As for air quality, any filtration system that can keep CO2 from killing the crew can easily handle the smoke.
Romulus wasn't as bad as i thought it would be but this is definitely more suspenseful and atmospheric.
NOT scary, but also goes along with Halloween quite wonderfully is "Secondhand Lions". Believe me, you will dig that shizz!!
Why did Ash do that little run on the spot?
I loved your video about Interstellar and the name of your TH-cam channel (I'm Brazilian).😁
bossanova music is so good!
you should watch Independence Day! great 90s alien movie!! stars bunch of huge actors! Also have you watched many disney or animated movies? Edge of Tomorrow is also one of the best alien movies in opinion1

@@TuchNGoh what can I say man, I’m just that guy
@@bossvnova damn right
Yes lady your already in train. All you have to do is SPEEDING UP. We are Happy for you kind😊
I appreciate your honesty! Not every movie is for everyone. It is generally accepted, though, that the sequel, Aliens (plural), is the better movie. So maybe give that one a try?
