I love the context/info texts on screen, it really adds another texture to the reactions. I never knew about Chekov's Gun, thank you for putting that up. Excellent video, I can't wait to watch the movie.
The scene where Peter see’s his reflection in class sneering at him Correlating that scene back to the dinner scene where Toni says to peter “why would I want to say anything so I can watch you sneer at me.” It puts that line of dialogue in a lot more context when you imagine the fact its quite possible that in toni’s mind She was seeing that sneering face of Peter after he killed Charlie It makes the version of Peter that she was seeing that we weren't a lot more creepy and makes it a lot more understandable why she was genuinely distant towards him where as we were seeing from peters perspective more than toni’s so we saw his version of himself, the only time we see her version of him is in the reflection where he very briefly catches a glimpse of what his mom was possibly seeing Could be symbolism to how different people handle trauma in different ways with different emotions Its scary to imagine Peter was sneering and smiling after killing Charlie
If y'all haven't ever had a panic attack, that bass line pounding heartbeat sound is what it sounds like when your adrenaline is high and you can hear your heartbeat, it's muffling
Rethink the plot knowing Paimon wanted a male body. That means the family cult knew since Charlie was born, that they were going to sacrifice her and transfer the spirit into Peter. The ritual says the most vulnerable host, so peter was targeted to make him mentally unstable, him killing charlie was a curse so to speak. Annie wasn't in on it though, but subconsciously she knew and tried to kill Peter many times (to ruin the cult plan to use Peter). Fantastic movie.
A bit of geekdom here for you to help settle your mind. Paimon is from 14th century demonology. The lore regarding Paimon in this is nearly spot on. They have only made a couple of little changes. 1. The reason it was included is from the original artwork of King Paimon from history (the pic in the film). You'll see 3 heads hanging from his belt. That is the ONLY thing that even hints towards that needing to be done. As well as to add a bit more ritual & some reason for the gore. & Feth me does it add some shocking brutality to the movie. But to cover a couple of the less than obvious things. The floating bodies IS part of Paimons lore. If you go back & pause on the page about him in the book you'll see that he is able to bend or break the laws of physics. So floating is no problem what so ever. Also making his followers super rich would be simple. Again he can bend/break the laws of physics. So hand him a block of wood & he could just change it to solid gold, as an example. Hope this helps add a bit of extra creepiness to a great horror
@@andrewmoss3681 Great write up! One correction I'd make is that Lucifer *is* the ninth (or rather, first) King of Hell, at the compass center. The concepts behind this movie and Rosemary’s Baby are so harrowing, because they’re grounded in such tangible realities. Which makes them two of my favorites. This is one of the most well executed ideas I’ve ever seen, and the movie plays on itself and the fears/questions it raises insanely well. This also may be the best acted horror movie I’ve come across. Toni Collette’s shrieking at 16:40 is still haunting. Also, I love watching you wrap your mind around movies like this. You always approach them with such depth and curiosity. It’s dope to be able to get such well articulated insight from somebody experiencing this for the first time, while also reliving it myself.
Had this in my "Watch Later" for a while, so upset I waited so long! Great Reaction Nova. I so enjoy smart, attentive reactors such as you based on this video. Looking forward to seeing what else you've got on tap. Subbed! Cheers!
I agree 100% with what you say at the end about trailers. I also went into this movie completely unaware of anything except the title and the fact that it's a horror movie. It wasn't what i epected either and it left me completly speechless in so many ways. Great reaction and video!

I’d love to see you react to one of Jordan Peele’s films if you haven’t seen them yet. My favourite is ‘Nope’ but I think ‘Us’ would make a great reaction video
There was a lot I noticed in editing!! Like I think the chopping of the nuts at the party were meant to mirror the banging of the mom’s head at the end. The pacing of the chopping/banging of the head. And the peanuts led to Charlie’s decapitation whereas the attic led to the mothers. Cool little bit. Thanks for watching!

As a fellow nut allergy sufferer, this one traumatized me a bit to say the least. Just waiting for that scream in the morning and the next frame is her head on the road covered in flies... 😭
W naked brothers band reference i was a huge fan as a kid for some reason lol. also peter’s reaction to what happened to charlie felt so real to me. like i talked to my sister about it and although i feel like i wouldn’t do that i feel like that response is somewhere in me , i could totally see myself shutting down under the right circumstances. anyways, great vid thanks for uploading
Is that a show? Hmmm I think I’ll stick to movies until the channel grows a little. I’m more passionate about movies and it’s a bit harder to hold myself accountable to multiple episodes for the channel. But maybe down the line!! (: I have heard of it and have wanted to watch it though
I always feel really bad for Peter and the guilt he feels for his sister's death. He made plans with friends to attend a party, and his mother forced him to take his younger sister (who was too young to be attending a HS party anyway, plus she didn't want to go). And the film showed us multiple times how absent-minded their parents were about Charlie's allergies, forgetting to bring her epipen with them on multiple occasions. If your daughter has a life-threatening allergy to nuts, how are you continually forgetting the one thing that will save her life if she's exposed to that allergen? Peter is a child. It isn't his responsibility to make sure his sister has her epipen with her. Could he have watched over her better at the party? Yeah, but he's a teenager who's trying to socialize with his friends. He didn't ask to babysit. His mother pawned off that responsibility to her son for no reason at all. Then he bears almost all the blame for Charlie's death. It wasn't fair to him at all.
I love how playful this reaction considering the movie lol. Also, I reacted the same way to seeing Annie in the shadows in Peter's room when I saw first this, so good
Thanks for the reaction Nova! I saw this in theaters and I left the theatre so disturbed. Like “WTF did I just watch?!” Lol The funny thing about this movie is that the family conceivably didn’t actually have a history of personality disorders, but because of the grandma’s involvement in the cult, she traumatized her children into developing their own disorders that were self destructive. If you’re into the more spiritual side of things, then the actions of the grandma and grandfather started a generational curse that absolutely would be hereditary and passed on to the next generation. I think the saddest part of this movie is really that Joan (the mom), unknowingly was possessed likely from a much earlier time and everything that happened subsequently was out of her control and planned by her mother (who was the demon’s original host). And her attempting to be a good daughter and reconnecting with her mom is ultimately what guaranteed that her whole family would die and Peter/Charlie would simply be a demon possessed person on Earth.
I am not pausing each and every time I speak. A lot of the times you see me talking are times where there are no dialogue and slow paced empty shots. I wish people would remember this is a 2 hour film and I’m only showing you dialogue. I can’t show you too many moments where I’m silently watching because it won’t count as a commentary video and I could get the video taken down. When I’m watching movies alone, I don’t talk or pause. When I’m watching movies for this channel, I have to do so. Glad you liked the video, appreciate you watching it
I’m just starting this reaction so I’m only about 5 minutes in but I’ve seen this movie about 60x. The last 15 minutes is about the most intense stuff I’ve ever seen. Especially when the mother is in the corner of the bedroom and then the living room. Insanely creepy
It's funny how many reactors to this movie miss the mom up in the corner in Peters bedroom. I guess it comes down to the contrast setting on your screen. I feel like they made that scene just a little too dark.
This is one of the scariest modern horror movies. Mental instability and mental illness are always scary to me. Hereditary is just a good buildup and unnerving from beginning to end. Great reaction.
I legit had no idea that Peter was one of the kids from the Naked Brothers band, I had to look it up just to confirm and it turns out today is his birthday 🥳 🤣
Great movie and reaction, and nice shirt !🇫🇷 If you want to continue watching horror movies maybe you'll like The Tunnel, a very underrated australian horror movie
There's about 50 really good horror movies out there. Starting with the exorcist, the first Halloween and Friday the 13th, hellraiser, the witch, the evil dead trilogy, all the multiple movies in the Conjuring universe, drag me to hell, smile woman in black, the descent, the boy , Orphan, sinister, barbarian, The grudge, the ring, lights out (watch the short first) the shining, I'll throw in The Thing and Alien and Bladerunner because of their gore and jump scare factor and great effects story makeup etc, the Omen , and maybe a few others. But i can easily say, after The Exorcist, this is number 2! There was nothing ever hereditary about this family. Dear old grandma or even generations before her, tried conjuring demons, and put in the men of this family. When Charlie dies and ma sleeps in the treehouse and the camera pans back, watch the wall! When Peter is in bed and first hears the click, watch his eyes!! There's homages to Friday the 13th and exorcist in here. The clock stopping, the subject taught in Peter's class, even the released date of this!! Also, the parking lot scene was a setup. She kept pulling and tugging on Annie and turned her back to her own vehicle because if u look close, she JUST BOUGHT that chalkboard, and its in the back! How Toni Collette didn't win a Oscar is a crime! U can damn well bet either joannie never had a son and grandson, or if she did, she killed them trying to put paimon in them!
So I normally do not like what I call cult horror I.e. rosemarys baby, The Ritual, The Wicker Man because I feel like the protagonists never stand a chance when there is an unseen conspiracy in a very Satanic Panic kind of way. That being said Ari Aster knocked it out of the park with this one and while I connect more deeply with Midsommar, both are fantastic scary as F horror movies hiding much deeper analysis of different kinds of more relatable trauma. Great analysis and reaction and happy to be a new subscriber.
If anyone is to blame for Charlie's death, it is her mother Annie not Peter. Annie insisted that Peter take Charlie. Neither Charlie nor Peter wanted Charlie to go. And Annie already suspected Peter might be drinking at the party. So she gave her underage son the keys to the car knowing he might be drinking and driving, then on top of that she insisted he take Charlie, I guess if Peter was going to drink and drive she wanted her daughter in the car when he crashes? She's a pretty irresponsible mother.
That does not excuse Peter in any way. Sometimes you get stuck a responsibility you don’t want. Doesn’t mean you can put the baby in the microwave and blame the person who gave it to you.
while i generally agree that if it wasn't for the cult and that stuff, and this was just overall non supernatural circumstances, that a lot of the blame should go to Annie or both parents actually. But for a completely different reason. I mean sure, if we assume she actually doesn't trust him to not drink, your argument might work, but she might just want to stress that part... he is a teenager after all. My parents constantly repeated every annoying little thing, even though i always did that anyway... I never drove drunk, and still heard that every single time, with a tone as if I could not be trusted. But the reason i would argue the parents take a big chunk of the blame is the fact that they are apparently very good at not bringing an epipen to places, as foreshadowed at the funeral. And if there was just always one in the car, this all would have been no issue. (well except for the cult obviously)
Also, the mother didn’t supply the teenager looking after her other child with an epipen, knowing that once again, Peter was going to be drinking but also knowing that Charlie is the type to go around eating chocolate that can possibly have nuts in it.
Now see this is a awesome movie. But to watch this on Halloween is brave. This is a fun day and this movie is top 10 get stuck in your head next to "Requim for a dream".
i was speechless when i first saw this movie by myself in my bedroom in the total dark, the constant feeling of dread and despair is something i didn’t know a film could make me experience 😭
Same here. Watched it in the dark, at night, alone with headphones ... bad idea (i'm glad i got this experience, tho)
I always look to the top right corners of the room when it’s dark lol
Mom did NOT knock over that bottle of paint. Fell over on its own. That one really freaked me out.
You can see paimons energy cross the screen on the background it's hidden to well
I love the context/info texts on screen, it really adds another texture to the reactions. I never knew about Chekov's Gun, thank you for putting that up. Excellent video, I can't wait to watch the movie.
This movie is crazy I love watching people react to it. Your editing and the layout are really good btw

The scene where Peter see’s his reflection in class sneering at him
Correlating that scene back to the dinner scene where Toni says to peter “why would I want to say anything so I can watch you sneer at me.”
It puts that line of dialogue in a lot more context when you imagine the fact its quite possible that in toni’s mind
She was seeing that sneering face of Peter after he killed Charlie
It makes the version of Peter that she was seeing that we weren't a lot more creepy and makes it a lot more understandable why she was genuinely distant towards him where as we were seeing from peters perspective more than toni’s so we saw his version of himself, the only time we see her version of him is in the reflection where he very briefly catches a glimpse of what his mom was possibly seeing
Could be symbolism to how different people handle trauma in different ways with different emotions
Its scary to imagine Peter was sneering and smiling after killing Charlie
And also "that f*cking face on your face".
If y'all haven't ever had a panic attack, that bass line pounding heartbeat sound is what it sounds like when your adrenaline is high and you can hear your heartbeat, it's muffling

Paimon is from 14th century demonology.
The lore regarding Paimon in this is nearly spot on. They have only made a couple of little changes.
1. Paimon is 1 of 9 Kings of Hell, not 8. They changed this to tie it in with a compass direction.

The floating bodies IS part of Paimons lore. If you go back & pause on the page about him in the book you'll see that he is able to bend or break the laws of physics. So floating is no problem what so ever. Also making his followers super rich would be simple. Again he can bend/break the laws of physics. So hand him a block of wood & he could just change it to solid gold, as an example.

this is truly one of the most detailed horror films
I think you would like The Sixth Sense. From your commentary on the Matrix. Great story and acting.
I never get tired of watching ppl react to this movie
Oh shit! Of all the other Psych horrors you mentioned, you HAVE to watch Seven...!
i remember first time I saw the telephone pole scene I had my hands on my head "they really did it, you never see that"
I’m just starting this reaction so I’m only about 5 minutes in but I’ve seen this movie about 60x. The last 15 minutes is about the most intense stuff I’ve ever seen. Especially when the mother is in the corner of the bedroom and then the living room. Insanely creepy
This movie is absolutely bananas! And one of a few different horror movies that Toni Collette did that she didn't get an Oscar for.
It's funny how many reactors to this movie miss the mom up in the corner in Peters bedroom. I guess it comes down to the contrast setting on your screen. I feel like they made that scene just a little too dark.
thx for the real effort, it'll pay off in bunches for you!
Thank you thank you!!
Happy Halloween Nova
This is one of top 10 horror of all times. Primarily...because it stays with you after you have finished
Omg no way!
Happy Halloween!! 🎃 🎃
Great movie and reaction, and nice shirt !🇫🇷
If you want to continue watching horror movies maybe you'll like The Tunnel, a very underrated australian horror movie
You should do The Lodge
Definitely up there.
When I heard you say ...let's watch spooky...I thought O no..what have u gotten yourself into😅
So I normally do not like what I call cult horror I.e. rosemarys baby, The Ritual, The Wicker Man because I feel like the protagonists never stand a chance when there is an unseen conspiracy in a very Satanic Panic kind of way. That being said Ari Aster knocked it out of the park with this one and while I connect more deeply with Midsommar, both are fantastic scary as F horror movies hiding much deeper analysis of different kinds of more relatable trauma. Great analysis and reaction and happy to be a new subscriber.
If you haven’t already, you HAVE TO watch The Substance. Easily the best movie I’ve seen this year.
It’s messed up lol but the way they shot the father catching on fire is so cool.
“I’m in shock.” Uhm, no but he is…
You should react to eternal sunshine of a spotless mind or requiem for a dream!
You need to watch SEVEN and Silence Of The Lambs!
I wish I had a $1 for everytime you said, "oh my God" 😂
Recommend the movie 'The wailing ',which is similar to Hereditary.
I kinda wanna watch the movie again cause I didn’t peep the subtle foreshadowing 🫣
I had to watch “The Care Bears movie” immediately after this movie. I’m not lying…
Check out the movies Host(2020) and Creep(2014).
have you watched midsommar? I think would be a great reaction! nice vidd lov from brazil
I list it at the very beginning (in the first minute) as a movie I’ve watched/liked
I love your reaction❤️. You low-key resemble Jessica Alba😊
I get that a lot lol. I don’t see it but it’s such a lovely compliment. She’s stunning! Thanks for watching the video (:
So to clarify - they are equally responsible for what happened.
while i generally agree that if it wasn't for the cult and that stuff, and this was just overall non supernatural circumstances, that a lot of the blame should go to Annie or both parents actually.
Ok maybe I’m out of line here but I blame Paimon, one of the eight kings of Hell.
Also, the mother didn’t supply the teenager looking after her other child with an epipen, knowing that once again, Peter was going to be drinking but also knowing that Charlie is the type to go around eating chocolate that can possibly have nuts in it.
this was crazy as hell!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭
That symbol isn't in the original Silent Hill Game...
I like your post edit footnotes
Are you a singer? You've got a vocal fry that is music to the ears
i sing for fun, nothing for the public though haha
The scariest part was when you cracked your knuckles. Be aware that each knuckle has a finite number of cracks after which they will crack no more.
Now see this is a awesome movie. But to watch this on Halloween is brave. This is a fun day and this movie is top 10 get stuck in your head next to "Requim for a dream".
