Hey Jenn. I made your basic 4 ingredient sweet salad dressing. It's very similar to the way my dad made it. This is what he did. I think they still carry the glass cruet bottle in the salad dressing aisle. It came with a packet of seasoning as well. On the outside of the bottle there is a vinegar line, a water line, and a oil line. Then he put sugar in it and shook it up. Since it wasn't heated he had to refrigerate the bottle overnight so the ingredients would blend. I don't remember how much sugar but I'm telling you Jenn, you brought back a memory that I truly love. I thank you very kindly. Ken

Never thought of marinading vegetables or meat. I make pickled red onion. Slice the red onion in half, make three cuts into the length of the onion then slice thinly. Heat the vinegar and add honey to taste. Stir until the honey is desolved then let cool. Place all the sliced onion in a mason jar and cover with the vinegar and honey. Leave over night turning the onions occasionally. Really good in salads.

Hi Jenn, Suggest to put the ingredients in a comment. This one looks interesting. I am not sure I should try it though. It has a little too much sugar for a diabetic. Your mayo dressing - great! I tried something similar and mixed in cucumbers and onion and garlic to eat with fish and avocado slices. Here there is not much choice in ready made salad dressings so we are always looking for good homemade dressings! Thanks, Jenn!

Is honey a better replacement for a diabetic? Or perhaps still to high a sugar count in honey?

@@JennLeast Ann, Is Stivia ok? I've been looking for a celery seed dressing & this one showed up, but in another one she said her fam preferred Stivia instead of sugar & she said add the same amount of either one u like. Made mine with sugar turns out no one liked it (Too Sweet) was the consensus. Still looking, today I'll try this one. My Maw-in-Law had a good one but I never thought to ask & she never thought to give. So Sad we don't hand things down as much through generations. 😞

Hi Jenn, what a simple and elegant salad dressing recipe! Thank you! I just have a couple of questions: (1) Why boil? Is it just to dissolve the sugar? (2) Can I use honey instead of sugar? Thanks so much, again!

    • @JennLeast
