Actually, you can download DAZ program updates and save them to disc. Uncheck the "Install after download" check box in DIM, and you can copy the install file after the download completes, and save if for later. Then install as usual at that point.
@@poseranddazstudiofunhouse6153 If you don't have DIM set to delete downloads after install, they will be stacked up in whatever folder is set in DIM options
I thought most people kept back-up copies of previous versions. I usually keep at least the previous six or so releases saved to disc so that I can roll back to a previous version in case a new release ends up breaking something.
@@poseranddazstudiofunhouse6153 Unless DIM is told to delete after installation those installer ZIP files are all there in the download folder. For that reason I let DIM download to an external drive, so that functions like an offline backup.
I'm a bit of a whale, but the Daz content is usually of very high quality and you can get a lot of it extreme cheap. I'm split on the premier. The two $10 dollar coupons are good as is the character pack, which have also been very high quality so far. However I'm not a fan of putting some Daz Studio features behind a subscription service, had they put the whole program behind it I would move elsewhere.
I agree, DAZ content is usually much higher quality than other stores, and if you spend regularly, there's nothing wrong with that. After a couple of months, I am cooling to the subscription. There's little "free" stuff I would have bought.
I'm really pissed about the geometry sculptor. I was eagerly awaiting the original 'mesh grabber 4.0' since it was announced, then after waiting months, I find out it's going to cost me $20 a month. I would honestly rather give $20 a month to the guy developing Diffeomorphic so he can build that out into a fully-fledged, bug-free program so I can just use blender for everything instead.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching. DAZ has its own AI tool. I don't know that it is going to be the threat you say it will be in the short term. For starters, AI can barely do adult content, which cuts out 30% of the DAZ market. And even the stuff it can do, it can only do within parameters. Think of a specific scene and try getting AI to create it - it's almost impossible. You end up changing your vision to match what the AI offered you. Also, I'm not convinced that people are willing to pay the subscription costs for AI given their response to this release?
AI will never replace the enjoyment of creating things manually. In fact Daz is in a decent position with the hobbyist market, who use it for the enjoyment. They don't want to sit there typing things in, where's the fun in that? The pro market will probably come more under attack as that is designed for speed and profits.
I have the premier subscription and I've had it for 2 months and I'm not really seeing any benefit. I will hold on to the subscription for a few months more and see where it goes.
Yeah, that's kind of how I feel. I mean the morph tool is great, and I STILL haven't found the pose convertor. The content is nice enough, but I pay $20 a month for it otherwise? I'm gonna give it a few months just to make sure my review is fair, then we'll see from there.
@poseranddazstudiofunhouse6153 yeah I'm paying the same, if the sculping tools were more like Zbrush it would absolutely be worth the 20 bucks. Hopefully they re amp that part. Forget all the other crap just having Zbrush capabilities inside Daz makes it a steal. But 20 bucks for what we are getting right now yeah not really worth it.
@@owhite2445 Definitely greedy. I don't know about the other two. They give away a minimum viable product for free, but they seem SO short sighted about the value of community good will.
Great Review - Thanks!!
Thanks Bob!

Ahh, that's useful. Thank you! I wonder if the install file is saved somewhere if you don't do that?

@@poseranddazstudiofunhouse6153 It's not, that is the only chance for you to grab the installers, it's gone after that.

So you export to Blender, or you simply don't ever use DAZ at all?
Good video, thanks for the info. AI is coming to eat Daz's lunch anyway.

its a shameless cash grab. whoever is running daz is lazy, stupid, greedy, or all of the above.
