It's positively Amazing what the team did to make this all happen - the new shader, the complete overhaul of Filament - at least on the user-facing end, and the attachments like the floating iris eyes... It certainly is a Massive update!!! I was so excited about it that I jumped onto the Premiere Tier bandwagon right away. I wasn't sure at first, but now I'm Sold! The additional Toon stuff is one thing, then all of the amazing deals... but what really blows me away is the Studio Premiere with all of its cool tools and functions! Love this thing!!!
@@Dartanbeck I want no part of Premiere, because they're locking things away behind it that you cannot buy outright. Its not like Gamepass, where once your subscription ends, you can still buy the games you liked playing.
@@SomeOrangeCat Yep. I get it. It's not for everyone. Luckily for me, I intend to Always be a member, so I'll always have the Free-While-Subscribed content. It's one of the Only subscriptions I get, as I just don't like them. What I love about Premiere is that, even if my membership lapses, I still have Studio!
FilaToon shader can work on any prop/figure/surface. Already tested on imported MMD and XNALara characters and they look great (after some tweaks to the opacity maps). I really wish DAZ shaders could support diffuse maps with alpha channels without having to make/extract a separate opacity map.
@@christopherflynn6743 I've never done the stand-based hair, but for most hair it goes like this: Select all materials of the hair, apply one of the FilaToon presets (FYI - "Constant" doesn't add an outline node). For a scalp or hair cap, put the Opacity Map back into the Cutout Opacity channel. For the hair, adjust the color and settings of the "RIM" channels on the shader to get your desired look. Black will make for a bit of extra outlining within the hair mesh itself, which often looks really nice. The default gray is a shine effect. Play around with different shades and colors to make something fun!
Actual work with the shader starts at 18:25. There are a few points of relevance before this, but the actual information I was looking for didn't start until then.
@@Dartanbeck It just reminds me why I prefer a text tutorial over a video one. It's much easier for me to skim and scroll when looking for a keyword than trying to guess from the micro-screenshot on TH-cam

I can't figure out how to use depth of field with filatoon. If I do the usual and create a camera with DOF settings, they don't show in the viewport and so don't affect the render. But you clearly have some DOF going on here - how did you achieve that? Thanks for the video, helped a lot!
I have a suggest for daz3d, maybe somebody Say it before but ok I Will Tell anyway, You should make a ai inside the program help automatic 2 models adjust the poses when 2 models interact each other, because sometimes when You load 2 models interact with some poses for example they are Kissing but then one model load in one place really far from the other model and we manually have to place all the model in the correct place and is the same with some parts of the body we need adjust manually, you can add a ai tool for to help daz3d user Match automatic 2 models or bodie parts 😮 but please if You do this make it free for all the users 😅
daz 3d need add an update tool to help Match easy the poses with 2 genesis models. And when you load a 2 models with poses interac betwen them be more easy to match them an ai tool help on match better the poses that can be a better ai use that make the ai image genenator you did. Another tool you can add are controls for go back when you use content on Smart gallery - props models or poses... Like contrl z but in the smart content ◀️▶️
Hmm, its got some useful info but its really too basic and haphazardly put together, why bring up the lighting without mentioning that lights work completely different in filament than Iray? Why use a custom view setup that makes it hard to figure out what you're doing?
To me this is the biggest Daz Studio innovation since Genesis 1.

Wow, Just comented in other video how badly we need a tutorial for this. I guess Christmas came early. Thank you Daz Team.
It was my pleasure! I am also Incredibly thankful to my Daz 3D for making this available to everyone for Free!!! That's Exactly what I wanted!!! :)
DForce Strand Based Hair shows on Filament when you bump up Line Tesselation (both viewport and render) to 3 or more.
Cool I'm gonna try that, thanks

How did you get it to work on hair? Did you test it in V4-V9 or just V9
@@christopherflynn6743 I've only used it on the V9 anime figure. Filament still has issues with Opacity and layered hair.

Ty, I love the toon stuff but them not dropping a guide on how to use was…..frustrating…..you answered a ton of questions to my problems :)
Thank you! We really needed this tutorial.

Thanks for the effort !!!
Thanks. I'd been having issues with geting the outliens to work. This was exactly what I needed.

Nice😀
Where do You find the lighting for anime. Actually Lot of HDRI are super agressive for shadows
They have a special basic starter option that's located under People > Genesis 9 Toon - it's the perfect way to begin.
Just add a light. In Filament Draw Option Parameters > Enviroment you will find option to adjust.
@MrSpaceman555 not really Best solution was use distant lights . With Spotlights at 5 %
@@integragemi7234 I did'n specify which light.
oh... nao I get it, they developed that render engine for Anime
Not exactly, but they sure made good use of it with this update!!! :)
When I apply Filatoon skin on my genesis 8 character, all the character turns black, even if I remove the outline. What am I doing wrong?
You need to add a distance light to the scene.

If I draw a cartoon, and I sell it to you, does that make YOU a cartoonist? I don't think so. Some DO think so, though.
I tend to think of it more like telling stories with photos.
