  • Many changes and additions have been made for the S7 MaxV. The app now has more features and functionality than many of Roborock's competitors which is a good thing, however many people are left not fully understanding how to get he most out of their new flagship robot vacuum. In this video I will walk you through all of the settings, features and functionality of the S7 App including the Empty Wash Fill Dock features. If you have any questions feel free to ask them below.

    Didn't find it in the comments so I'll leave this here : Off Peak Charging means the following: Let's say your contract with your energy provider is one where electricity costs more during the day than it does at night (or vice-versa) , usually those called peak hours (when electricity is more expensive) are known in your energy contract.
    You can basically tell your robot to only charge off-peak so it costs you less to charge it up.
    Hope this helps!

    Thank you so much for the complete tour of the app. Well done. With the latest firmware, how does the robot handle rugs with tassels. We have a few Moroccan carpets on our low to medium pile carpets in our house. I am considering the s7 maxv or the irobot j7 (which has no mopping capabilities)

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not tested it. It would depend on the size of the tassels. Any robot vacuum would struggle so you may just have to buy one and try it and if it does not work send it back and try another one.

    I just received this and your video is GREAT as they don't have a lot of instructions. I do have a question about the pet setting. It states in the app that turning it on may reduce it's efficiency. We do have two goldens but they are service dogs so they are at work all day and the only time they would mess in the house would be if they were sick and we would know it. Is poop avoidance the only reason for the pet setting? If so, maybe we're better leaving it off. Thanks again for all the great info!

    This is quite a long video and extensive review … but highly interesting from start to finish ✅ one question though as I am new to such device. How often does the robot go out to clean, i.e does it go out cleaning, charge and repeat during a defined time slot (for example during day time when at work) like a lawn mower robot, or does it go out only when you ask for it to do a full house / room / zone cleaning (I think I saw that you could ask up to 3 cycles) ?

    So, finally got my Ultra y-day and it's all I expected. Thanks for all info leading me to dig deeper in my pocket. A question though, a threshold in a small bathroom lets it enter, but not exit. Getting out, it has to get over a steep 25mm step, but going in, there are 2 steps, 7 + 18mm and the 7mm is rather wide, like 7cm. I can obviously get a 7mmx7cm step on the inside to allow it to get out, but I don't want a 7cm wide step inside but rather a short wedge. Do you have any hints?

    • @jamie.andrews

      The only thing you can do is figure out a ramp system or manually move it in there and start a spot clean. Once done you would have to take it back to the dock.

      Your best bet is to remap if your map is too messed up. If the windows are floor level this will happen since lidar can see through the windows. There is nothing you can do other than cover the windows.

    Thanks for this much needed video. After trying a Roomba I8+ (Costco only) for a week, I took it back. It's cleaning was okay but it looked like a drunken sailor when it was trying to follow its own floor map, not to mention getting stalled or stuck a lot. I have an S7 MaxV Plus on the way and this video really covers the app very well. My house is basically all carpet except for a small kitchen and two small bathrooms. I was more concerned about cleaning the carpeting and taking up allergens so I didn't think that I needed the Ultra home base and the Plus base's higher level of filtering was also a factor in that choice. Did I hear you right about removing the the mop well container/pad if you want eliminate any possibility of the carpet getting wet. Will the vacuum run that way without throwing warnings at you? Also, I called the Roborock support folks a couple of times yesterday before pulling the trigger on the device and was very impressed with their knowledge, friendliness and honesty. That's becoming more of a rarity these days.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the mop is dry you can leave it on. If it is wet the S7 will lift it up a few mm to clear low pile carpet. If you have thick carpet you should remove it which is perfectly fine.

    Jamie, While I understand this video was created nearly a year ago, and for the S7, it is still the very best video out there about the App. My problem: I recently purchased the S8 Pro Ultra, and love it. However I'm unable to create a "No Mop Zone" as I don't specifically see what you are clicking on in the video, I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if they've removed that functionality from the App.

    Thank you, very informative as I'm thinking of purchasing this product, as I want to upgrade from my current Roborock S6 MaxV setup. I have some questions, maybe you or someone else can help me out:
    1. Can I schedule the robot to vacuum only the entire house at a specific time, and do let's say 2 cleaning cycles per room? I know you can increase the cleaning cycles on Zone Cleaning Mode, but was wondering if you can do the same with Scheduled Cleaning Mode.
    2. If I select vacuum only, and keep the moping attachment on, will the moping attachment be raised during vacuuming?
    3. I own a large breed dog, that sheds a lot, and often. I run my current robot once a day, and still I have to empty the dustbin daily, as it fills up. Sometimes the dustbin even overfills, and because of that, the extra hair coils around the brush. Sometimes the hair clumps at the entrance of the dustbin, and even though the dustbin is empty, it cannot fill up any more, because of this, the extra hair ends up getting coiled around the brush. So will this new model solve this issue? Will the suction power from the home station be powerful enough to pull these large hairs and empty the dustbin properly?
    4. How often must I refill the water tank and empty the dirty water from the main station? I plan to mop daily, at high scrub intensity and highest water setting?
    5. How often must I change the dust bag as I have lots of pet hair, and debris on the floor (from the dog coming inside when I walk him).
    Ty in advance! Hope to hear from you guys soon!

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  ปีที่แล้ว

      So I can answer a few of these questions for you.
      1. No
      2. Yes
      3. It is a different roller brush and dust bin design, but unfortunately, I can not guarantee you won't have the same issue. I recommend not doing full house cleaning and instead scheduling a few rooms at a time that way it will return and empty the dust bin.
      4.I would empty the dirty water daily, or it will begin to stink. The clean water will vary depending on many factors, including square footage of hard floors and the water intensity.
      5.I really have no way of knowing since that depends again on too many factors. Roborock claims 45 to 60 days, but with dogs you may get less.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mark, there is no dustbin detection system in the Roborock vacuums so no way for it to go back and empty when it is full. @marktaylor9616 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamie.andrews I think it was around 27 min. You said something about sending it to empty. There us no option to do so in the app. You have to either wait until it’s done to auto empty (or pause it and do it yourself) or set up 2 separate routines dividing the house and schedule them after each other. Solution was to add a 2-2.5mm spacer I the mop plate mount hole and change to an aftermarket mop pad. Theirs does not allow enough water through it before it spins off. I got the idea in the mop pads from th-cam.com/video/3BvsIP55SrI/w-d-xo.html

The problem was that in order to do that from the whole house map, after I selected the Kitchen, I also had to remove the No Go Zone and then redo it. I wanted to have a second map with the Kitchen completely available so I could just select it and send the S7 on its way. With Single Level selected the Manage Maps section did not have the Create New Map button showing. The key is to use the Multi-level setting, even on a one level house. Once that is selected, it opens up the Create New Map and Mapping run only functions (Mapping only is very fast). I saved a new map with its own name for use with the kitchen. In order to switch between maps I had to first save backups of each map and use Restore Map to bring up the map that I wanted to use. It's a bit cumbersome but it works.
