    Thank you Matt I was looking at the pressure switch in the line on top of the compressor.

  • @brolsonmusic

    Just use a multimeter to test BOTH connector AND switch to see if you have continuity. If you DO, then the switch and wiring are NOT your issue. You can do this on EVERY sensor and switch.

    When installing a new AC pressure switch (low or high) you should always replace the O-Ring. Lube the O- Ring with clean fresh matching AC refrigerant oil. Jeep Liberty AC oil is PAG. You should have installed AC manifold gauges and checked the pressures. Automotive Industry Best Practices is to test the actual operations of the switch itself under running conditions (voltage, ground, signal, etc at each pin of connector and each pin of switch)

    • @Kingbrood
      @Kingbrood 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why bother with checking each pin of a connection you can't replace? Even if just one pin was causing the issue wouldn't you just have to replace the fuse/switch or whatever anyway?

    I am in need of help.
    I have a 2006 jeep grand cherokee laredo. Drove the jeep to town and the AC worked great. Parked it for 30 minutes and when I started it the AC clutch would not engage.
    Checked all the fuses and all were good, checked all out under the hood and under the dash above my foot pedal.
    Switched out the AC clutch relay with the horn relay (same number relay) and nothing.
    I changed the low pressure switch and did not fix the problem.
    I changed the compressor and could NOT get the AC clutch to activate when putting in freon.
    I changed the expansion valve and nothing.
    I changed the LOW PRESSURE switch a SECOND time thinking the first one was bad. NOTHING!
    My controls inside the jeep (blower, temp) were replaced last year, they were purchased from the dealer so I doubt they are bad.
    I even changed the valve cores on the low side (where u put in freon) and the valve core where the low pressure switch is.
    Only other thing I can conclude is the TIPM box, but I am open to suggestions.
    On two separate occasions I blew the fuse to the AC Clutch, but I cannot replicate that again so I have no clue what caused that. As of now the fuse is staying in tact.
    I am OPEN TO SUGGESTION!!!!!

    bypass test gets compressor going and blowing cold air. Replaced cycling switch with auto zone switch and compressor doesn't go on. ??? Is the switch the only component that could fail? Or is there something else that's bad?

    • @MattsMotorz
      @MattsMotorz  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check refrigerant level. If it is too low, the compressor wont turn on. (Use manifold gauges, you can rent these from autozone)

    Like working on most electrical things on automobiles the hardest part is figuring out how the hell you get these Chinese puzzle electrical connections apart. Sadly in this video the camera points away at the exact moment showing you how to unconnect the wires.

    When using the jump should the AC start blowing cold air? I did the jumper, the clutch started like yours, but no cold air. Does the bad sensor prevent cold air process?

    • @justinbuchleiter6836
      @justinbuchleiter6836 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dale Baranoski it’s because the sensor was doing its job , if there is no pressure the switch turns off the compressor to keep from damaging it

    Thanks for the tip. I did this and the clutch spins for a few seconds and then shuts off. Spins for a few seconds and stops again. I checked and cleaned all the connections and it still does this. Any suggestions?

    • @robtemple3445

      This is called "short cycling". This usually results from a low refrigerant charge caused by a refrigerant leak. Or, if you tried recharging your system, & it was already fully charged, it could now be over-charged, & is short-cycling via the HPCO (High Pressure Cut-Out) switch.

    Hello . I have a Jeep 2004 Liberty , and when I turn the a/c on, it only work on level 4, .
    1,2,3 are not working. Started with level 1, 2 at the same time and like a week level 3 , now only 4 is working. Does anybody knows what it could be the issue so I can fix it ?
    Thanks in advance !

    • @Turk_2023

      Might be the actuator / blend doors

  • @robtemple3445
    @robtemple3445 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not to diminish the value of this video, I just feel some additional description of operation might be needed here.
    The Clutch Cycling Switch not only keeps the evaporator from turning into a block of ice, & blocking airflow, it also serves as a compressor safety device by preventing compressor operation due to a loss of refrigerant. Remember, the refrigerant circulates the oil in the system to keep a constant supply of oil to the compressor while in operation. If the refrigerant level is too low to accomplish this, this switch will disable compressor operation. So, if you bypass the switch, & you DON'T have good cold air, then replacing the switch probably won't help. You'll need to verify system charge level, & if low or empty, fix the leak & recharge. If a leak cannot be found, add some UV Flouro-Dye & recharge. If the system appears to be fully charged, & the compressor clutch is not engaging, find out why.
    Yes, it could be the Clutch Cycling Switch (usual suspect) , but it also could be the a/c relay*, or the High Pressure Cut-Out Switch*, or the "Triple-Switch"* , or an open circuit (i.e. broken wire), or a bad field coil*, or the ECM/PCM, or the A/C Control-Head, or....
    *= if equipped (depends on make/model)
