    So my compressor works and when I use a paper clip where the relay is, it blows cold air. The relay works fine because it uses the same relay as the fuel pump and I check both relays on the fuel pump to come to that conclusion. Idk what’s wrong with my ac system but the clutch won’t engage when I turn on the ac .

    To the people watching, don't use a test light. Use a multi meter. If you dont know what you are doing, you can smoke a computer with a test light. You won't do that with a DVOM.

    Turning AC on and off like that is definitely not a good idea for the system. I'm a AC tech and I know your only doing this to show people what happens, but you definitely don't want to keep turning it on and off like that. It will damage the compressor after time. Also info for the people If you are using your heat in the car you don't want that AC button turned on. It is just running your compressor and wasting gas and also the lifespan of your compressor. I noticed my family members were not aware of this and I explained it to them and now they get it. When you turn your heat on it is a separate unit from the AC. It uses the same blower fan but the heat itself comes from the radiator coolant that runs through the engine. So if your using the heat always make sure that the little button for the AC is off. If anyone has any questions I'm glad to answer. Good vid tho bud.

      AC is used with heat all the time in the winter to defog windows. No harm. Compressors are pretty robust and simple devices mechanically. As long as your oil and refrigerant charge is correct, you can do very little harm to the system by running it.

    • @geeess958
      @geeess958 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fakiirification I don't believe the commentor above is actually an AC tech, at least not for cars. I have yet to see anyone detail why they believe running the heat or AC burns gas, other than having the car running.

    • @morrisw7227
      @morrisw7227 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@geeess958 Operating the AC requires the engine to turn the compressor adding some "drag" on the engine. Without the AC on, the compressor pulley spins freely. The alternator, power steering pump and anything else requiring engine power to operate produce "drag" on the engine. Any power not directed to the drive wheels would be considered detrimental to fuel economy. Test have show these to be insignificant in real life but technically true. The heater, without AC compressor running, requires no engine power not already in use. Not an auto engineer, just a old hotrodder.

    The wiring harness that connects to the compressor doesn’t have continuity on my car and we checked to see if it has power with the car and ac on and it doesn’t. So it seems the compressor isn’t getting power, but I don’t know where that harness connects to. Would you know? Is it somewhere near the fuse box? I checked all the fuses, they look fine.

      lucky you, I don't even know which fuses are for the a/c or heater. both the box and side panel fuse boxes the diagrams are unreadable. And all I find on the net only tell you where the fuse panels are located and that it. I have an 08 impala 3.9
