I get what you’re saying but developing a game for multiple console generations hinders how good a new game could be on the Series X. Same with the PlayStation. Thanks for the comment!
I do think they should be looking to do what you are saying before they start talking about a new console generation. That being said, not everyone has access to a PS5 or Series X so that's probably why they are doing it. Aswell as that it's probably alot harder than we think to actually make a game that is PS5 or Series X standard and its quite possible that there are alot of studios that don't have the development abilities to even do it just yet. We will just have to be patient. It will come eventually.
Not everyone had access to the ps4 and Xbox one either yet that wasn’t used as an excuse. If they were worried about accessibility then they wouldn’t price games at 70 dollars.
@user-nn6ow3xt5o Then maybe it's more down to the devs capabilities. I think the points I made are valid overall though. There's no doubt the games now are overpriced though. I've rarely ever bought new games myself though and have mostly waited to pick them up cheaper pre owned. Not always though. There have been exceptions.
@@Kenno10rapid yeah maybe so but we don’t really know what’s going on with these dev teams and if they didn’t have the manpower or things were taking longer, they should say so. I do the same thing now too, no games are worth the full price really and they tend to go on sale pretty quickly. It feels like they’ve been going on sale less and less though but it doesn’t matter because none of the games released finished so I can wait until they go on a pretty good sale I stopped paying for ps plus too it’s just not worth it.
We are 3 1/2 years into the new console generation, time to let the previous gen go. PS4/Xbox One generation is 11 years old now... I'm not gonna lie, there hasn't been a game in past 4 years that blew me away or really push the boundaries of what these consoles can do. I'm sure the reason they are still making PS4/Xbox one games is inflation and greed. Inflation because not everyone can get a ps5/xbox series x and greed for game companies to not try and keep milking the old generation because if majority of their playerbase is still on old consoles, they have no incentive to cut them off. I'm sick and tired of inflation and greed seeping into every facet of our lives.
Thankfully, I think playstation is starting to develop for ps5 exclusively. Recently, there have been a couple of games like spiderman 2 and ff7 rebirth being exclusive, so it looks like the ps4 is being left behind by sony themselves.
To be fair, Xbox one and Xbox Series X have compatibility of games, so its easier for studios to make a game for both to make more for less work.

Glad to hear Sony is. Here’s to hoping 3rd part titles follow suit soon.
