    I bought a brand new B2600i in 91'. Regular cab, 4x2, with the 2.6L. This made it a totally different truck. Saved a ton of weight and had the more powerful engine. I moved along quite well. Did great on the Autobahn in Germany. Could keep a solid 110mph...It was the only small pickup in the left lane.

    My dad had a b2600i that's been sitting for 15 years. As a result, the engine didn't even budge. The only things I've done to it is I've replaced the fuel tank, filter, and pump, oil and filter, battery, spark plugs and wires, distributor cap, fluids, and ignition switch(key was lost). And what do you know, it fired right up. There was air in the brake line so I had to bleed it. After that, it was able to run, drive, and stop relatively nicely. I did all of this 2 years ago without any mechanical knowledge whatsoever. I just bought another b2600i about 4 hours ago for $1,200. Truly amazing little trucks.
    Great videos by the way. I didn't know the ECM was so close to the wheel well. I'll definitely keep that in mind. Cheers from Montana!

      Hi everyone. I've recently bought a 1995 2600i 4wd.now how can one tell if the remote free wheel switch is activating the rod to disengage the front hubs? 4wd works fine..but I have a sneaky suspicion the front is getting disengaged..I'm only getting around 400km to a tank of petrol..my Mitsi l200 4wd with the 2.6 cyclone motor is way better on fuel

    Your right, I bought a 1991 4×4 2600 king cab mazda for a 1,000 $ , It was wrecked , I bought the passenger door, I bought a manual trans to forget the automatic, I cut and welded the injector manifold to place an 1.8 toyota carburator, I took the rusted air system, bought a few things and now it has air conditioning, I put bigger tires, , I met people willing to give me 5,000 $ now for the pick up, but I enjoy working on it , can't sell it, So , I hop in and crank it, here I go around the hood , then to the Avenue to enjoy driving it and to play cool of course, And you are right about the old B-series, very easy to work on. 👍🏁

    The B2600i's G6 engine is a great little motor but they do suffer from a lot of computer issues. Even with the G6 motor being a Mazda design, Mitsubishi still manufactured the computer and they like to fall apart inside. That and the G6 is known to have some high RPM oil control issues resulting in lifter failure, but you shouldn't have to worry about this since it's in a truck and it should really never be over 4k in it's life.
    The computer can only monitor so many things but the few things it does monitor are extremely important and some of them are very very hard to find. Getting a distributor pickup, air charge sensor, MAF sensor... All of these are a total pain to track down.
    One of my best friends has a '92 Mazda B2600i LE-5 2WD that has recently started to have some trouble starting. I have an OBD1 scan tool capable of talking to the computer (OTC Monitor 4000E with the MECS cable and Import '96 cartridge), and the codes we read were "12" for Air Charge Sensor and "34" for Oxygen sensor (Don't quote me on those numbers, I don't recall exactly).
    O2 sensor being bad would cause a poor running condition on it's own, the computer is seeing full rich all the time and tries to lean the engine out so it runs through plugs like a mother and we're worried it's going to burn a valve. The air charge sensor causes it to refuse to start when the outside air is cold. It won't run for anything unless you reset the computer (Negative terminal off, key on, foot on brake for 5 seconds) and stuff the intake full of starting fluid right away, then it will run like garbage for a few minutes before dying and you have to do it all over again. We've been on a quest to replace EVERY sensor on that truck since to try and compensate for the unobtainable IAT sensor while we track one down. The O2 sensor has been fighting us hard... RIP 3 different half inch drive ratchets.
    Despite all these issues I'm buying myself a brown 1986 Mazda B2000 SE-5 Plus 5 here soon. Single cab long bed. I'd much rather have extended cab and short bed, but it's the only decent truck I could find in my price range outside blown up S10s and garbage Rangers.

      Partsgeek is your friend. They've got a listing for every sensor. If you're having problems THAT bad in high/low temp conditions, it can also be the ECM. Aside from capacitor failure, random components on the PCB can suffer from temperature-related failures, and there's no easy way to figure out what's gone bad.

    Hey Man, I have an odd question. I hope you still have this truck. I was just given one of these and it has been off the road for over 10 years. I've got a little money into it now, trying to get it back to good and running again. What I need to know is what color is the wire that comes out of the white connector that sits just to the left of the PCV valve (blue thing in front of the oil cap if ya didn't know). I see the section that comes out of the back of the throttle body and into the top of the white connector, but I can't see the bottom half of the connector or the color of the wire that comes out of it. Someone has hacked at the wiring in the front of the engine on mine, and I really don't want to blow up the ECU on it... Just trying to save myself a bunch of component level soldering on a 30+ year old PCB, but I may have to anyway. Cross your fingers for me Bro.

      @@shiftwrenchrepeat Your wish was granted. I got it running, and after a bit of fidgeting with the distributor, it idles fine and seems to run fine, but I've not got it on the road yet due to 4 flat tires...lol.. The tires on these are murder to find. They happen to be the same size as a standard 14 inch trailer tire...grrr... I'm trying to find some updated wheels that fit, but the budget is slim. LOL. I trust that it will all work out though. Thanks for your swift reply.

      @barrygolden9823 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My 87 had the Mikuni carb on the Mitsubishi engine. I swapped it to a Weber 38/38. This allowed me to do away with the "water choke" and all of the emissions system. I also added a 2.5in stainless exhaust, up from 2in, and deleted the catalytic converter. Runs much better now vs stock and no computer system to fail as these trucks are getting harder to find.
      Still not a rocket by any means but very fun to drive.
      If you can find a Mitsubishi Conquest Turbo, they use the same 2.6 block and you can put that turbo onto your B2600!
