    Thank you for the great video. I have a 1989 4x4 2600i. . It has the REW switch on it , so you are saying for me to get better Gas mileage I will need to put manual locking hubs on it correct. Also when cranking the truck a lot of times I hit the RFW switch and the light comes on but nothing happens, is that how it should be until I pull it down into 4l or 4h then I'm in 4x4.

    • @WorldScienceTV
      @WorldScienceTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes manual hubs will get you better fuel economy. The rfw light should come on when you stop and put it in 4 high or 4 low the light will not come off until you hit the rfw switch when you hit the switch it disengages the front axle.

    I am thinking of putting 255s on my '89. Are you saying that you will not be able to shift between 2 and 4hi while moving with larger tires? Why would that be the case if all 4 tires remain the same size? Also, other than junkyard do you know of any aftermarket lockout hubs for these trucks? I'm sick of killing CV boots.

    Hey I have 93 b2600i, I just got it and when i would engage 4x4 the truck would defintaly go into 4x4 cause I could see the front wheels spinning on snow, but it would make a whirring, rubbing noise. I then proceeded to drive around while in 4x4 until the front locked up and started to bind . so now im wondering if the diff may have grenaded or could it be a bad cv axle. the truck operates normal in 2 wheel with the rfw off

    • @WorldScienceTV

      First is yes major damage in either diff or transfer case. And next is gear radio maybe someone put a diff off a automatic in it

      @@WorldScienceTV when its in 2 wheel drive and the rfw is off would the cv axles still rotate which then would rotate the ring gear

    • @WorldScienceTV
      @WorldScienceTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Only one side is connected to the diff when in freewheel but I think without both axles locked the ring gear won't move it just turns the unlocked axle the opposite direction

  • @tommykid29

    I need a little help. I’ve got a 1991 Mazda B 2600i manual transmission. The locking mechanism randomly tries to engage when I’m driving. Sometimes the 4 x 4 light will come on the dash randomly, and other times the actuator tries to engage. Is there something I should look at first to fix this issue? When I hear it starting to engage when I’m driving, sometimes I can hit the button and it will disengage, other times I just have to pull to the side of the road and listen to it violently engage. Thanks.

    • @justinmorton2785
      @justinmorton2785 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just bought a b2600i 4x4 model and it seems to be getting really bad gas mileage and the transmission seems to be shifting a little clunky from 1st to 2nd gear. The R.F.W. switch light does not come on when I shift into 4x4 so I'm wondering if the switch doesn't work and if the front wheel mechanism is staying locked. So I want to know if I can manually unlock the R.F.W. lock system.

    • @WorldScienceTV
      @WorldScienceTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Simplest way to completely bypass everything is to run a vacuum hose from your manifold down to the four-wheel-drive actuator on the axle and you can either engage or disengage it by which side of the actuator you hook the vacuum to

    I having trouble with this truck hoping maybe you could help me out. Trying to change the rotor but it seems like I need to remove the entire hub assembly including the wheel bearing. I'm having a hard to removing the locknut out. It's a 2 prong about 1.5" can't seem to find that type of tool even called mazda dealer. Any clue? (Got a 6 lugs version)

    • @WorldScienceTV
      @WorldScienceTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You pull the two 8mm head bolts out then you pull the snap ring off the cv axle then you pull the lock plate off with all the holes in it then you are at the lock nut that you speak of. There is four holes two of them have threads and two of them don't. The two that don't put a large screw driver in the edge of the hole and aim it counter clockwise and tap it with a hammer it should back off no problem. The stock tool is called a spanner wrench I've never seen one for this truck

    Hello there, I have a small leak coming from my transfer case on the passenger side where the CV axle mates to the transfer case. Is there a seal there that I can replace or is it just the cv axle itself? I've found "transfer case output shaft seal" and "transfer case input shaft seal" online but the diagrams are either non-existant or useless to tell where these seals actually go. Your help would be appreciated.

    Hi I am having problems starting my 1993 Mazda B2600i when the engine is warm. When cold it cranks for a while and eventually starts and revs high. When warm it revs low and quickly dies or doesn't start at all (does not respond to gas pedal). Any ideas?

    • @WorldScienceTV
      @WorldScienceTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      At any point in time do you get power out of the engine enough to drive up a hill. The number one thing first to check is always the computer on this vehicle they have a 99.9% failure rate and even rebuilt ones will be bad right off the shelf once this is confirmed that your computer is good or not then we can proceed.

    • @WorldScienceTV
      @WorldScienceTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The switch on the dash have you pushed it to disengage the 4x4. We need to find out what part is failing. The switch on the axle works if you’re light is on on the dash. Is the actuator moving on the front axle. Does the actuator have vacuum to the in engagement or disengagement side of the actuator. Then the vacuum solenoids that controls the actuator on the inner fender behind the battery do they have power going to the engagement solenoid this is the key point to start with your voltage meter.
