This channel is a safe haven for people with ocd - okay, back to my exposures now.

This has been a long running issue for me for years now..I struggle to feel anything and id desperately love to have my emotions back. Its terrible not being able to feel a damn thing.. and the more you try to summon them the less they appear. Also does anyone focus so much on how they feel that you can't even enjoy an emotion when it does crop up!? You interrogate an emotion so much that it then disappears!

Hi Martin, this is because OCD wants you to desperately search for those feelings and potentially you’re fearful of not ever having them again. OCD loves this kind of fear because it can get you to search and check for feelings constantly. It’s important to know that ocd is based on fear so essentially you’ll have certain fears that need working through.
One example is the fear of being stuck like this forever - once you make peace with that (not agree or like it, but accept its possibility) then this will subside a little

Kirsty did a video on internal checking and Marijke also did one on the topic. Check those.

It's sensitized "tired nerves". If we perceive the numb feeling as a threat, then the brain will keep it going. Anxiety is normal, it's when we perceive it as a threat, is when OCD kicks in.

When I think about my parents death I feel nothing, I don’t feel fear. I think I don’t have emotions anymore
