    Thanks for video , is there a way to check passage way from tank to pump before going back together

    • @RayofallTrades
      @RayofallTrades  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I demonstrate the passages at the 7minute mark. Unless you’re asking about the gasket blocking the hole. For that I would consider either thin oil or air and slowly rotating the pump

    I just put an o-ring around the plastic plug and reinstalled the pump. No leaks.

    When I switched from the regular bar lube, to 20 weight motor oil, my leak stopped. I think the high viscosity of the 'modern' bar & chain lube builds up too much pressure, and causes the leakage. Yes, you might need a pump and gasket, but if that's not the problem switch to a lower viscosity oil and give it a try. It looks like you did fine with regular bar/chain lube, , , thanks for the video. You picked up a new subscriber.

      I found a manual for this model, and it actually shows what oil to use depending on your ambient temperature. Doesn't say bar oil, it says 20wt,30wt, or 40wt.

    great video, thanks. I would get rid of that spur drive, and switch it over to a rim drive, easier to replace in the future, and better diversity for drive ratio (7 or 8 tooth for variations of wood).

      Not sure if you can convert to rim drive because of that oil pump gear that is driven by the drum. Maybe there is a special hybrid drum that has a 325 pitch star for the gear then splines for the rim sprocket but I've never seen one.

    11:00 minutes, there is an angle on the end of the worm gear shaft. That shaft pulses in and out of the pump end, as the flat spot reaches the supply hole, the shaft pulls away from the hole (sucking action), as the flat spot rotates to the discharge hole, the piston pulses the other way, applying pressure on the oil, and forcing it up the hole to the chain, (look up piston pumps), the wobble is to make the piston move in and out. There should be a spring in there somewhere (I haven't taken one apart yet), that keeps the shaft tight against the wobble area, so as the shaft turns, it also pulses in and out (Left and right). I found a part number for a High output pump: *I can't verify this to be fact* 1118 640 3211. I wrongfully concluded that different part numbers were different years, but they also denote oil flow per minute at max RPM, or at least the potential. the high output models have a greater wobble, which increases the pumping action. The flat spot is probably larger too, (Or cupped), to transfer more oil with each pulse. I just learned about this, sorry I can't give more info). Thanks much for the great video. One more thing. I found that thinner oil, as opposed to bar oil, will stop a lot of leaks, the bar oil build too much pressure, the transfer tubes cant handle it..

    I have an o28 av super that my grandpa bought in 1979 I found it in the scrap iron pile took it home cleaned the carburetor put gas in it and it runs like a dream but it's not oiling the bar I took it apart and the oil pump looked like it has chocolate milk in it and the plastic piece on the end was basically not attached would that be why it's not oiling the bar and chain any advice would be greatly appreciated

    What is holding the plastic cap into the rear of the new oil pump? Do you think whatever was missing was the cause of the leak? If I had to guess I would have said it was a rubber cup rather than an O-ring.

    • @RayofallTrades

      Ray of all Trades Thanks. My guess now is some kind of gasket sealant, since that’s what they use anyway for other things, like crankcase and base gasket joints. Dirko or one of the variants like Hondabond or Threebond 1186.

    I found this video from a google search, and I had a similar problem, except my saw was leaking bar oil while in the case, and when the saw was filled with gas, it leaked just gas. Is that oil pump a place where the gas and bar oil would meet? Or do I have another problem on my hands like multiple gaskets? I’m trying my best to not take apart the entire thing since I don’t have an impact wrench

    • @RayofallTrades

      Try to clen it real good, fill it up and let it sit on cardboard. They leaks might become visible. Sometimes it's just the caps
