    I owned a 028 for years. Got stolen. That saw was very reliable! Extremely reliable. Went 20 years with no problems. None.

    Good advice about having a saw(s) around. We had the same mindset when Dad bought a 028AV in 1982 living in suburban Detroit. Not a lot of need year by year........but the saw paid for itself later clearing 2 properties for 2 houses.
    I am not a Husqy person but my 80 year old neighbor uses several, hope he keeps me in mind when he decides to sell them.

    My first chainsaw was a Stink 028 AV Super. I bought it used from my bosses husband who ran a small engine repair shop in the late 90s. I never used it much, but I used it a lot for 1-3 says, 2 or 3 times a year after storms. I probably ran 10 or 15 years without a tuneup. Then it started having a hard time running after it warmed up. I then replaced the spark plug, air filter, and fuel filter. It then ran great a few more years, then same symptoms, but the spark plug and filter still looked new. I found if I wiggled the run switch when it started running bad, it would run great until I turned it off or ran out of fuel. I ran it a few more years that way, then took it to a shop this morning to see if it was the switch. They took out the air filter and found a small broken piece of fuel tank air tube, replaced that part, and now running great again. I won a new similar size Echo. It is a lot lighter and runs great, but I use the Stihl. If I have an extra hand helping, they get the Echo.

      Oh it was a great saw. I just found myself using my Jonsered and Husqvarna saws more. Just like you with your Echo. Potato/patoto.

    So you sold that saw because it just wasn't for you... so you don't sound like you do like stihls so what saw brand do you prefer?

    I have a redmax 7000 which is a husky 570.its my favorite saw.bit ihave 20 saws i use soi dont use the redmax unless i really need 70 ccs.but man whwn ineedto pull a 24" chain thatthing is really nice.good find on the 5300.idrather have it than the 353 due to it being so much more rare

      I've heard great things about the 572, but this is the first I'm hearing about the 570. I see it is only 67cc. Kinda filling the slot of the old 365 I guess.

    I had an 028 for several years. I really liked it. I ran newer Stihl saws and they just didn't feel or cut right, compared to the 028. I ended up selling it because, much like you, I got some better saws than the 028. Really was no need in keeping it around. I'm not much of a Stihl fan at all. There's much better saws out there than what Stihl has to offer. Especially better than the saws they've been putting out for past 20 or so years. The name "Stihl" used to mean something good. Now, you're just paying for the name stamped on the saw and the quality has gone to hell. Their saws are cheaper made now and the price always goes up. And that started long before this economic inflation we're in now. Can't blame it on that.

    I've used Stihl for so many years,that when I had to use,or work on Husqvarnas I really did not like their switching systems.I guess I'm just used to switches being a certain way?

    Great stuff, l have been running Huskvarna and Stihl all my life, from 50cc to 120cc, the most beautiful saw ( sweet ) l have handled of all time, not categorising as an all round saw, just pure sawing bliss, is Stihl MS 400 C Mtronic , with Stihl Light 20in B&C ( .063 ), try one out, l would be interested in your experience, happy trails to you !!!

    Whats the thing with the redmax? Is ot jonsered? And why are there no new jonsereds in US. Because they are clearly still making Jreds

    • @novicelumberjack
      @novicelumberjack  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      As far as I know, they completely quit making Jonsered in I think 2017. Anything you are seeing that is new is likely a left over from previous years. So Husqvarna owns Jonsered, and many other brands. Redmax is a Japanese brand owned by Husqvarna. Just like with Jonsered, certain Husqvarna models are rebranded as Redmax models. The Redmax G5300 that I have is just a red version of a Husqvarna 353. The Jonsered version of the Husqvarna 353 has different plastic covers. It isn't a direct part for part version. Jonsered was always considered a higher spec version of Husqvarna. Similar to Chrysler/Dodge. Redmax however, once the Jonsered models that have been rebranded as Redmax are obsolete, my guess is that they will simply be red versions of orange saws.

    • @CutterCH
      @CutterCH ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cbr1thou The 028 never ran forever on pennies. Every 028 I've owned was a heavy weight gas hog compared to other brands........better and more powerful brands. Just because the saw says STIHL on it, it doesn't mean a thing anymore. Their quality has gone straight down hill over the past 20 years. I ran Stihl for a long time. I wouldn't be caught dead with any of their newer saws. They're extremely overpriced for what they are. Cheaply made and overpriced to be exact. There's much better options out there.

    If you don't cut 4 cords a year you're never going to wear out a 028 super.. New is nice but the 028 is everywhere if you need parts.

    I am sure 028 wil outlast all the others, who cares about 5 seconds in a cut ,at the end of the day is safety and the job to be done.

      My O28AV is still going since 1982. But parts will be getting scarce in the coming years. My carborator probably is worth the most out on the parts market. The carb is the #1 sought after piece for this version of saw.
