Hey thanks - how cool for me to hear that! You are right that when posture is correct, it allows for better air flow and therefore greater singing, however it is not the only thing that gets rid of tension. Bc sometimes you are just extra tense somewhere in your body even when you are standing correctly. Tension relieving exercises can be partial bc you might tense up again, but are still essential =)
Kerri, you are great! I think this is the only video that we need to sing better in just a few days. I am practising the exercises in my car when I am driving alone, and now I can sing more songs that were impossible for me previously. Thank you so much, Kerri. You are a gifted vocal coach!.
Thanks Kerri, I have been singing professionally for over 15 years and perform 6-7 times a week during the Summer. I was feeling my voice weaken over the past 6 months until I came across your videos while looking for some lessons for my drummer. After trying your warm ups last week I had one of the best nights in memory on stage. I'll be sharing, subscribing and following all your videos. Cheers!
I've been binge watching your videos and other vocal coaches for the past couple of days and I find that I get the concept of preparing your body very well (i.e. Tension is bad, breathing from diaphragm). As my band director says, tension is the enemy! Thank you for your videos you're an amazing teacher!
I've watched so many vocal vids, yours is by far the best. I SO appreciate your genuiness and giving. Thank you so much Everyone is not in position to take private lessons and or buy programs. You gave a lot and you will be blessed for it!!!
I absolutly love your training videos. I'm using them to train my praise and worship team at my church! I'll pass it along to our other locations and other churchs that I'm associated with, etc. These are priceless. I can't thank you enough. :-)
It is a shame that you don't have a lot of subscribers. You deserve it though. Honestly, you're one of the best teachers on YT. Your videos are always helpful.
manuka honey for your throat, steam is also great. make sure you warm up properly before every singing session and train your voice to sing for long periods of time with a daily vocal workout. If you feel strain and tiredness after only an hour - it is likely you're not using correct technique - or the band is too loud and you are straining above them
Kerri You're amazing... your videos are just the most complete and effective vocal tutorial videos I've ever seen... You're my one and only vocal coach Thanks alot ^_^
Your videos are so helpful, this is only my third day of practicing your methods and I already feel my voice getting stronger and healthier! Thank you!
at 56, been 'singing" all my life, but made sure my children had good access to musical lessons, and skipped them myself though I wanted them badly.Your videos are LIFESAVERS!! I'm beginning to learn what my adult children ( who can sing amazing) know on how to do more than sing from t he "throat" to "chest"!! Thank you Kerri for making these available to people that( or at least I can't) afford vocal lessons!!!
It is hard for me to advise you when I can't hear what you are doing. But to access your head voice, try sighing up really high "Ahhh..." with a very heavy tongue. And make sure your body, face, neck, shoulders, tongue are very relaxed. Hope that helps!
Hi! Stabalising falsetto will take more than drinking a 'magic' drink lol. Lots of water of course. But really you can learn to do that best through vocal training with a good vocal coach. A lot of guys have your problem but overcome it with vocal training. I work with many guys like you.
Thanks for posting these great videos!! When I was a kid I wanted vocal lessons more than anything! But that never panned out! So really happy to see kind people with the knowledge, sharing it generously online!! :)
It's important to keep your throat very open for the high notes like that. Yawning stretch as you inhale will help you with that. Watch my videos on how to sing high notes for help. Good luck with your audition - let me know how you go !
well Kerri, I am 55 and in early retirement, have started recording my original songs ( CD-Blue Mountain Rush) I have needed vocal lessons since I was a kid. So, with decades of bad habits, I am going to try your videos. Consider this your toughest challenge LOL Thanks in advance, Brad Strang
these videos are great! i'm working with young singers on relaxation techniques & i'm totally stealing some of these ideas for our workshops ^_^ simple enough for them to understand but oh so effective!
also i tried ur relaxing technique before singing it really helped me get into the right frame of mind n take the tension of my mind n throat to some extent
Yes I know what you mean, I see this all the time in students. I would recommend that you being working more on your head voice - with openness and clarity - check out my vids on How to sing high. work on gentle exercises and opening your throat. this will be a good start.
I already know quite a lot about voice itself and some of the exercise are familiar to me, but I love exploring new things and you're great at explaining. I often feel tense, so this video's been really helpful for me, thank you! Channel suscribed and I'm gonna check out your other videos, of course :)
Hi I would like to thank you for the heads up on the manuka honey, I never new id have to take out a loan to be able to buy it. lol Thank you im gonna try this. Ken
I agree with suntamujp; these are the best singing teaching videos I've seen on TH-cam. I wonder about the concepts. The videos already take up your valuable time, so no need to answer. Aren't most tensions released by sustained proper posture? So, if posture is correct (rarely), the tensions will tend to slowly dissipate. Significance is that the tension release exercises shown are temporary and partial in effects. If partial, will be unable to reach optimal singing capabilities.
Hi Kerri, i think your a great teacher, just wondering could you do some sort of video to prepare yourself to sing musical threatre for an exam based setting? Thanks a million would really help!! :)
Yoga! I think yoga has been the easiest way I've found to lose tension all through the body. Even simple yoga is great for that. Just my thoughts. Keep it up, Kerri.
2:36 shake
3:06 stretch shoulders
4:00 stretch neck
5:20 massage
7:33 open our throat/yawn
9:02 open our throat/weird sounds
Thank u 💕

Yes it's normal esp at the stage in your development to find it harder to access these sounds. however it shouldn't be forever..
You are the coolest singing teacher ever!
