something I did in choir in High School (the only class I looked forward to), to help breath support was to slowly let out air with an "sss" sound. deep breath in and slowly let it out through your diaphragm of course. increasing more and more with each one. just an idea.
I have been looking for just the right Singing lesson course: at 9yo I lost my voice due to the trauma of my mother who, when she learned that I had a good singing voice(performing in elementary school productions), decided to "train" me by playing the records of the popular Hispanic opera singer at the time, she would smack me in the face hard whenever I did not reach the notes on the recording. In time I learned to "lose" my voice entirely as a means to escape the abuse. It has taken me years to overcome that trauma and even though I am over 50, I have made a vow to myself to recover my voice. I have found that this lesson has actually worked to help me regain my voice. Thank you, Ramsey, I will save up and pay for the beginner course as soon as I can afford to.

I actually sing a bit too low and have issues to get any high notes but this video made me damn confident in getting better and I didn't even believe this simple video makes me this confident on myself and as someone who just sings for themselves, I didn't even know my breathing was off and now I understand how important it actually is. When you told us to use the talking voice and not to try to sing i was able to recreate it within minutes. My mother has been pestering me for years now to use my voice more because according to her I have more power than she does as a trained opera singer. I kind of slacked a lot on that front and by now noticed how singing makes me feel out of breath or tense. I feel like I'll never properly learn, without me being anxious about if I'm being too loud, because I really don't want to disturb the neighbors. I often find myself having to suppress myself to be quieter, which ends up in me sounding terrible.

I figured out that the reason I was straining so much was because I wasn’t really singing with my natural voice. I was trying too hard to sound like my favorite singers, which negatively affected my vocal clarity and ability to hit those higher notes.
Before I watched this video, I've just used roughly only my throat. But you taught me using my full-body is the best way to sing! I'm trembling for further improvement!!!!!!

I didnt find my voice until the 7th grade when the choir was studying the phantom of the opera. Let just say i got my very first vocal to the song the phantom of the opera with no vocal training. The same year went on to sing at the cleveland browns grame, the national anthem. I was floored.
My last year music teacher taught me this, it lasted for a while but now I forgot about it because she doesn't teach me anymore. Instead I'm learning marimbas because it's the only free music option in my school. As someone with perfect pitch i never sang in my life till two days ago. I don’t have problems reaching high I struggle with low. After doing tests and asking singers around me they say im a Baritone type and have F#2-C#5 Vocal Range. I can mimic just about any sound hearing it once. I just lack breathing practice.

I came from a long line of musicians. Mom played paino and sang, aunt played drums and could carry a tune pretty well, grandmother played guitar, great grandfather played guitar and mandolin (I think) great uncle played drums. I just want to be able to belt out legendary vocals. I've long since given up on playing an instrument.

Yes, it's true there are some things I'm still working on in my voice. Starting from an F4 and ascending to C5 (Tenor high C) is still difficult for me because it requires I start in my first passage and ascend into my second passage with very little time to correct.

Good vid, my 1'st singing tuition ever, being a non singing guitarist of 40'yrs 'ish. But all on & off at home these days, very & occasionally with an old friend who also survived but it always pissd me off how I couldn't sing self taught, Whenever I tried esp' many years back when i lived in a shared house, i'd get stupidly self-consious, they'd take the pss, i was so bad at it, I always quickly told any not quite so local bands who didn't know me directly & were scouting to fill a rhythm guitar slot "for a gig or maybe 2' "I'm a 100% non- singing guitarist" so they didn't expect harmonies or wotever l8r. It's ike ive had some traumatic singing incident age 5 or 6'ish, if so, I know which 1. Screw the baggage & now I'm long married & live in a detached house, plus you really get fed up of being self-consious wherever you are as years go by, I believe practice & tuition improves folk, tho some come with a natural ability or did they get taught some basic tuition at young school age? Does it ever come without help? I know not. I payed to take 20 classical guitar tuition lessons after finishing playing in pub-band & it all transfers into anything you like, made me value tuitio n. After this 1 view I can now hold such a long note, I'm sure a minute essily passed & the loud questions from upstairs only stopped me via diaphragmatic breathing (I think he called it) but it worked well, I shall need to watch this vid again as an utter newbie to singing.

Matt, you are awesome and the real deal. The only vocal coach who can even come close is Roger Burnley who uses similar methods.

I didnt find my voice until the 7th grade when the choir was studying the phantom of the opera. Let just say i got my very first vocal to the song the phantom of the opera with no vocal training. The same year went on to sing at the cleveland browns grame, the national anthem. I was floored.
My last year music teacher taught me this, it lasted for a while but now I forgot about it because she doesn't teach me anymore. Instead I'm learning marimbas because it's the only free music option in my school. I want to sing "Billie Jean" because Michael Jackson is one of my favourite music artists and this is gonna help a lot. R.I.P. Michael Jackson, you will be missed.

As someone with perfect pitch i never sang in my life till two days ago. I don’t have problems reaching high I struggle with low. After doing tests and asking singers around me they say im a Baritone type and have F#2-C#5 Vocal Range. I can mimic just about any sound hearing it once. I just lack breathing practice.
I used to be a soprano in the choir, but ever since I started testosterone, I haven't been able to hit any high notes. I'm hoping this will help
I'm also on testosterone, and I'm just starting to take my singing seriously! It's definitely disheartening. I can't hit such high notes anymore.

Im 23, and decided i want to be able to make my own music some day. Just started leaening guitar so i figured i may as well learn how to sing at the same time

I've trained abt 1 month and the result sounds pretty good
I came from a long line of musicians. Mom played paino and sang, aunt played drums and could carry a tune pretty well, grandmother played guitar, great grandfather played guitar and mandolin (I think) great uncle played drums. I just want to be able to belt out legendary vocals. I've long since given up on playing an instrument.

I was a mezzo-soprano since I cold basically hit all of the high notes,talents just runs in our blood so,this is my first time watching a video on how to sing properly,and whenever I’m actually singing,if ai didn’t like just the tone of one word I would later on keep on practicing until I get the notes high.

I’ve always wanted to be a singer/songwriter and an actress but my anxiety could never, I’ve been singing my whole and never feel like I’ve improved but when I hear a recording of me a year ago I realise how bad I was then and I’ve improved A LOT so don’t give up ❤
I heard a liiiittle strain in the last two five note ah scales. I had a really great day for singing, managed some stuff like Billy Joel's Piano Man that I've never managed before. It's neat when stuff starts showing improvement :3

Yes, it's true there are some things I'm still working on in my voice. Starting from an F4 and ascending to C5 (Tenor high C) is still difficult for me because it requires I start in my first passage and ascend into my second passage with very little time to correct.

Good vid, my 1'st singing tuition ever, being a non singing guitarist of 40'yrs 'ish. But all on & off at home these days, very & occasionally with an old friend who also survived but it always pissd me off how I couldn't sing self taught, Whenever I tried esp' many years back when i lived in a shared house, i'd get stupidly self-consious, they'd take the pss, i was so bad at it, I always quickly told any not quite so local bands who didn't know me directly & were scouting to fill a rhythm guitar slot "for a gig or maybe 2' "I'm a 100% non- singing guitarist" so they didn't expect harmonies or wotever l8r. It's ike ive had some traumatic singing incident age 5 or 6'ish, if so, I know which 1. Screw the baggage &
now I'm long married & live in a detached house, plus you really get fed up of being self-consious wherever you are as years go by, I believe practice & tuition improves folk, tho some come with a natural ability or did they get taught some basic tuition at young school age? Does it ever come without help? I know not. I payed to take 20 classical guitar tuition lessons after finishing playing in pub-band & it all transfers into anything you like, made me value tuitio n. After this 1 view I can now hold such a long note, I'm sure a minute essily passed & the loud questions from upstairs only stopped me via diaphragmatic breathing (I think he called it) but it worked well, I shall need to watch this vid again as an utter newbie to singing.
